My husband and I had our 2007 Vespa GTS250ie towed to this business after it wouldn't start at a gas station on 10/1/22. We called the owner prior to having it towed and he said to call 15 minutes before it would be dropped off. My husband called 15 minutes before it would be there and the guy wouldn't answer our calls. We followed the tow truck in our vehicle and when we got to the business at 9:30AM, all the doors were locked even though it was during their open hours of 8-6PM. There were empty beer cases all over the ground outside and through the window we could see that the office was filled with trash. With no other scooter mechanic in Wilmington we had no choice but to sit there and wait for the owner to show up. When the owner showed up he told us the scooter would be ready by 3PM. At 3PM the owner called us and asked how to get the seat open because the mechanic hadn't started working on it. At 4:30PM they called saying the Vespa was fixed and that they only took cash payments - $120. They didn't call prior to tell us what was wrong, tell us how much it would cost to fix or get approval from us to make the repairs. When we went to pick up the Vespa, it was already running and they specifically told us not to turn it off and used the excuse that the battery needed to be charged. We got the Vespa home, turned it off, and then couldn't get it to start again. The owner said that the mechanic charged the battery, fixed the carburetor, and fixed a cable. The 2007 Vespa GTS250ie doesn't even have a carburetor and my husband found a cable that disintegrated in his hands when he started to look around at what they could have possibly done. This business is the only scooter repair mechanic in all of Wilmington, NC so my husband spent 2 weeks watching YouTube videos, learning how to fix the scooter, and then we had to spend another $250 on parts for him to fix it himself. We'd like our money back but he won't reply to our messages.
