I was seen by Carolina Care in January 2024. The office manager required me to pay my full deductible of $188 before leaving, rather than just a copay. I paid the $188.00 and left. After seeing another provider, I was told that my deductible had not yet been met, and they required me to pay an additional $110.00 towards my health insurance deductible. After reviewing my health insurance EOB and calling my health insurance company, I discovered that Carolina Care reported to my health insurance that I only paid $78, rather than the $188 I actually paid.I reached out to the provider beginning March 26th. I spoke with the office manager, ******, who is the one who originally took my payment. She relayed that she would speak with billing and get back to me the following day. Now, on 15 April, I have not received a phone call from ******. I called the office to follow up on 04/02, 04/03, and 04/04. I left messages and never received a call back. I found a different number for the provider and when I called, I immediately made contact with ******, who still had not reached out to billing to request direction on my refund. I've reached out several times since, then, have even gone into the office to request an update, and have only been told that someone would reach out to me. Upon further review with my insurance company, they have directed me to file a fraudulent practices claim with them, which has been done. I am respectfully requesting that my $110.00 refund be issued, and that my records for this visit be forwarded directly to me so that further contact with this provider can be avoided.
