We have had very similar experiences with Blue Print. Two engines purchased and neither made it to 500 miles before a major issue. The second being the most dissapointing. The warranty department is extremly hard to get a response from via phone call or email. We have to push them hard to get any answers. I have a truck in my shop now that has been hear over 4 months due to the first engine failing before it could even be delivered to my customer. The first engine had low vaccum and an internal engine noise, the second engine not only came with a damaged part but the enigne smokes and pushes coolant out of the radiator due to excessive pressure in the system. Their response is that it could not be bad and then failed to respond after with a resolution. My customer has a major investment he can not use on a full rotating assembly that leaves very little to go wrong during installation. Bottom line is poor quality control and next to no sopport from Blue Print. Summit racing who the engine was purchased from offers no help and puts it all back on Blue Print. We will make sure to share our experience with all Tire Pros dealers of the poor quality and warranty support from both Blue Print and Summit racing.Blue Print Engines

Hello, after reviewing the files it seems that we weren't clear when explaining our warranty process. I apologize for the inconvenience on that aspect. We have a strict process to follow to determine the reason for the issues and must follow it each time to ensure that we get to the bottom of the issues. It seems that for the first stretch of trying to diagnosis the issue, neither our tech nor the shop's tech was available for phone calls from 7.16.2024 - 8.1.2024. On 8.1.2024 our tech then resorted to email as it seemed that would be easier. Video and pictures were sent in from the mechanic and reviewed by our master tech who then had follow up questions. At one point it was indicated that working on the engine was not the forte of the current shop and for that we apologize, we can work with any ASE mechanic that is able to help with diagnostics, we are sorry if the shop felt like we had to have that shop in particular look at the issues. It looks like we brought the engine back and that the diagnostics and tear down here was taking too long due to lack of manpower, so we compromised and sent a different engine out. We acknowledge there was an issue with that engine as well, we are currently working with the shop for a solution. There was a brief time last week that one email was not returned promptly, we acknowledge that too and did so with the mechanic at the time. The issue was due to the global disruption that Microsoft experienced last week, we did reach out to the mechanic on Friday and explained that. At that time, two options for repair were given to the mechanic and we have yet to hear back. We look forward to hearing back and having a solution for the customer to be able to back on the road.Review fromDrew V

I have had to repair this engine two times already, and the engine is still leaking oil! They DO NOT stand behind their products or warranty, and the engine is still leaking. It's a brand new engine with less than 2,00 miles on it!Blue Print Engines

Our warranty policy can be found in the packet that is shipped with each engine and on our website. We have asked for pictures/videos and diagnostics on the intake that was installed after the customer bought the engine on 5.14.2024; 5.17.2024; and 5.28.2024. Our technician was told on 5.17.2024 that the mechanic replaced the rear main seal thinking that was the where the leak was coming from, but the leak persisted after that. The mechanic told our techs that he would not look at the rest of the engine until we paid for the seal that he replaced. Our tech then asked for pictures and parts invoice for the repair to evaluate a payment on 6.19.2024 but have not been supplied with what has been asked for. Our tech then asked for the intake to be looked at, as that is where the oil is most likely coming from, but the mechanic has not looked at that after being asked multiple times. Our warranty process relies on the person doing the repairs to heed what our experts ask as we work hard to make the quickest repairs possible so that the customer has less down time and that repairs are minimal. We look forward to being able to assist with this file and hope to be able to help with a swift repair so the customer can enjoy the rest of their summer.Review fromCameron C

Blueprint engines does not honor their parts and labor warranty. They ran me around for months costing more money to trouble shoot the problem. Then they finally have me send the engine back. it only had 40 miles on it and it started knocking. The installer followed all manufacturers instructions. They finally honored the parts but have not honored the labor that i am out for the R&R twice and hours of trouble shooting. This company is a joke and i am going to share this with everyone interested in their engines. The only reason i got this engine was the warranty. what a shitty organization. Do not buy this crap.Blue Print Engines

A warranty file was started 6.5.2023 for an issue with a knock. Several shops looked at the knock with us, there was regular diagnostics done to figure out the problem. The shops could not find the problem, so we brought the engine back to us in August of 2023 after our standard diagnostic asks. We tore down the engine and found that detonation due to improper procedures was the cause. We then rebuilt the engine and sent back to the customer at no cost. Per our warranty, due to detonation, no labor is covered. We did try to contact the shop in October 2023 after the rebuilt engine was sent out to see if the shop or the customer needed anything else and never received a response. Our warranty can be found on our website under the support tab and it is supplied with each engine.Review fromMichael P

1 starI regret buying a blueprint engine from blueprint. I base buying this engine upon their warranty to come to find out they do not back their warranty 100%. I had a head leak on an engine with less than 500 miles on it when I called blueprint, they told me their heads don’t leak after I got 3 separate estimates from licensed automotive repair shops. I was also told labor rates in California were ridiculous by blueprint employees Ken Hervert warranty supervisor and Brian Yendra. They also questioned the knowledge of the shops that I went to. When I told him he could pick whatever shop and I would take my car there for an estimate. By the way, I have all this an email from blueprint. 100% poor communication, and customer service. When asked to speak to Ken’s manager I was given nobody not a name not a phone number I guess Ken position is the highest that it gets in blueprint. If you live in California, do not buy a blueprint engine they will not honor labor rates in California for mechanics.Review fromMike F

1 starI bought the 1st of 2 junk cruiser engines back in November of 2022. The first engine had a very noticeable wobble at the balancer. After trying several balancers including a fluid damper, I was told by blueprint that the snout could possibly be bent since the engine had a REMAN CRANKSHAFT !!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I paid over 5,000 for a crate engine that had reman internals. After hearing that, the deep internal knock and squalling was starting to make more sense. The engine also leaked water from the heads and intake, had several cracks in the back of the block near the cam plug, and the pushrods were dragging on the guide holes in the heads. In all it had only been ran 30-45 minutes total before I pulled it out. Blueprint agreed to swap me for another engine so I agreed. The new engine showed up with a new crankshaft, but only had 30lb of compression on cyl #1 and 80 lb on cyl#2. The second engine made so much valve train noise that it sounded like marbles in a dryer on high. Summit is processing the refund on that engine as we speak. Thank God for summit racing being a great company to work with. Due to availability of parts and machine shop costs I took a gamble on buying a built engine, and I lost big-time ! I will never ever ever recommend anyone spend their time or money on anything from that company. When one of there guys at blueprint told me a slight wobble in the crank was normal, and that the lifters they use take a few days to pump up, I knew I was dealing with a real bunch of con artists. There were so many other things I saw in these engines, but there's not enough room here for me to list them all. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED !!!!!!Review fromTerry B

1 starIt took 7 months to diagnosis the issue with my Blue Print crate 302 engine. By the time we found the problem, I was charged almost $**** to diagnose the problem and another $****.00 to rebuild a $**** crate engine. My grand total bill was $****** (no joke) on a $**** Blue Print crate engine with only 7k miles. The overall cost of the repair was not worth the engines value. Blue Print customer service did not provide enough support for troubleshooting and they did not take ownership of their faulty product.Review fromGreg G

3 starsBought a blueprint at 350 from summit racing put it in the truck within a few miles the rear main seal was leaking called the warranty department they were fantastic to deal with but said that I have to fix it and they would send the parts which they did for the truck apart fix the leaking rear main now we're all good wrong engine developed a squeaking noise that sounds like a bad belt and also vibration at 1700 to 2000 RPM after doing more investigating the noise was coming from the motor called the warranty company again they were fantastic said it's the rocker arms will send you new ones replaced all the rocker arms took away the squeak still have the vibration in the engine was told by blueprint that that is probably the cam not sure if I believe it but I still have a lot of warranty left so I'm going to run the engine and when something happens it happens again dealing with blueprint and the warranty company have been fantastic but I am very disappointed in spending all this money on a new engine and having to rebuild or replace half of the parts with under 200 miles on the engine and no compensation for my time and labor that is why I'm giving them three stars plus I don't feel brand new engine should have a vibration in it but I'm just very disappointed in the way things were handled as far as my time and labor I feel that when you pay this much money for an engine you should not have to do anything just disappointed and not getting compensated for all this extra work that should have not happened who knows maybe the owner of the company may get in touch with me after reading this reviewReview fromRonald C

1 starBlueprint uses ****** carbs which are absolutely unsuitable for use on the street.
I bought the ***** 350 cruiser crate engine and it was installed in July 1922. It's now Jan 2023 and I am finally giving up on that ***** carb. It ls unreliable and dangerous to use on the street with an automatic transmission because it dies at about anytime and you can't restart without stopping dead in traffic. Four shops have tried to tune the carb and it's still just plain crap. I'm done.
