1 starThis is the worst dental insurance I’ve ever come across. They did not live up to their contract. They wouldn’t provide me with a treatment plan and didn’t even pay for cleaning. Since November 2024, I’ve contacted them five times I’ve written them to cancel the insurance and they’re still sending bills. Portal is not accessible and when I contacted them regarding that, they pass you off to someone else who is non responsive. I would hope that there is some kind of regulatory agency that overseas the companies behavior. I consider them fraudulent. On a positive note, I switched to liberty dental and so far they’ve been responsive, easy to work with and have covered everything 100%.Review fromConny R

1 starThis company has theeee worse customer service. I have my 401 K with them and I have tried to get someone to contact me since November 5th to change my 401 K. They do NOT respond and refer you from one person to the next without anybody following through. Disgusting!Review fromBernard M

1 starWell, I guess I should have read these before I gave this horrible company my hard-earned money! I originally called Spirit Dental for insurance and somehow ended up with Ameritas as the dental company. I have Aetna which I am very satisfied with so far. I went to the dentist to get immediate dentures and Aetna paid in over 80% of the costs with Ameritas left with $1300. Ameritas claimed they could not coordinate the costs which left me holding the bag! I specifically asked the agent the question on whether they would pay just in case. He assured me that Ameritas would have me covered for any emergency. Well, they speak with forked tongue! Does this insurance company pay anything to anybody? I immediately terminated the policy! Ameritas missed out on a loyal customer because I would have kept them for years if they had paid this bill as they promised from the start. Never ever get this company to back you in your dental or vision needs! They suck for real!Review fromMeghan F

1 star"To encourage persistency, most plans increase coverage and/or maximum benefits after the first year on the plan. The plan benefits will show day-one coverage, which applies the first day the plan is effective. After one year on the plan (except in Washington, which is by calendar year), benefit coverage may increase and stay at the higher level of coverage for subsequent years." So, you can get your dental checkup and x-rays on day one of coverage, but you need to wait 6 months to 1 year to fix any of the dental problems you have. This policy is NOT conducive to positive healthcare outcomes. I urge Ameritas to make full benefits available to their "customers" on day one of coverage, please!Review fromSamantha C

1 starCoverage is awful and you can't even access information on your account via the web portal. They will find an excuse to deny any procedure, so there's no point in having the insurance because you end up paying out of pocket. I had to pay $2,000 for a tooth replacement because of the vague wording in their contract which indicated that it would be covered but wasn't. Just pay more with another company for decent coverage.Review fromLyn P

1 starThis is horrible dental insurance. You would be better off paying cash price to your dentist instead of paying premiums into any of their plans. I'm on a group plan through my employer and this the worst dental coverage I've ever had. They do everything possible not to pay a claim. With how quickly my claims are denied I suspect they have some kind of algorithm set to automatically deny based on any available parameters that even vaguely register with their bots. If you are an employer representative looking to offer dental coverage to your employees, I suggest you look for an alternative company if you care about your employees or their quality of coverage at all. Not only do they fight to pay even the basic preventative claims, but they also make accessing your information a trial in jumping through hoops on their poorly designed platform. That is probably a purposeful choice on their part though, to make every bit of dealing with an EOB, claim, or any sort of coverage take more time and energy then it's worth. It's very disappointing that such a large well-known company has such disgusting business practices and fails to follow through on the very product that they are happy to take your money for. If you go with this company, you are basically gifting them a donation every time you pay a premium because you won't get any value back for your money.Review fromAlicia S

1 starThis is the worst customer service I have ever had, and I was a potential buyer of a policy. On hold 5 times for over 30 min. No sales agent picked up the phone. The chat was down for over 3 hours. Finally I was able to chat with someone and they did a good job of answering questions. No one answered the phone at corporate either. Horrible.Review fromJoe D

1 starHad two dental procedures due. Paid the dentist the balance due for that procedure. When I received my statement from Ameritas I found out that I over paid for the procedures Called Ameritas. The agent told me that balance showed on the statement was correct and that I overpaid the provider. I called the dentist and person in charge of insurance claims told me that Ameritas was forcing them to charge MetLife prices. She told me that they are contacted with Ameritas and they are going to use the fees that they are contracted to use. So, I contacted Ameritas and talked to a customer service representative. She told.me that the providers were given the option to use the MetLife pricing. Apparently my provider decided to opt out. How was I suppose to know? So does this mean that my provider is out of network? Are my statements of service reflecting MetLife pricing? Once again I called Ameritas and asked to speak to a supervisor. Of course one was no available. I was told that a supervisor would call me within 24 or 48 hours. I'm still waiting. It just hit me. If I have to find a new dentist. I guess I have to ask if they take Ameritas Dental. And if they do are they using the MetLife pricing plan.Review fromSteven W

1 starI paid into Ameritas Dental insurance for 3 years and 2 months. I followed the increase of coverage for 3 years. My dental, Mid West dental in Plymouth, WI. explained the need for dentures for my upper right side. I waited till after March 2024 to complete my 3rd year with Ameritas so as to have payment from them per the percentage they would pay. My dentist sent the approval to Ameritas which unturned came back saying they would approve the procedure. I went ahead with it in April 18th of 2024. Come June 1st of 2024 I decided to not continue with Ameritas since they were not giving a larger amount of percentage coverage. I recieved notice that Ameritas did not cover their percentage of $2993. (89 daus later) I called Ameritas and the gentleman stated they never recieved the bill. I called the dentist which who stated they did send the bill. I questioned and stated I would have never gone through the procedure if the insurance would have declined. The dentist said they did send and received authorization and sent the bill just a few days after the procedure. During the call with Ameritas they said if I paid up the rears from June 1st to Aug. They might pay their portion but even so they only accept the bill within the 90 days. Well I wrote before I did not recieve notice until the 89th day. Regardless, they did not keep their end of their procedure. Then came up with a lame excuess of a missing tooth clause. Possibly buried deep in some fine print or just made it up to make excuse of none payment. I would like to be reimbursed the $2993 which i finally placed on a Care Credit Card which now needs to be paid before there begins the 34% interest rate. Please help. Thank you. Steven A. ******
