TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I have this insurance for dental coverage. I pay every month for the PRIVILEGE to use this insurance and when I do they deny coverage? According to their “guidelines” I did not have enough decay to warrant coverage for a crown, even though TWO dentists advised the procedure. I was experiencing sensitivity and instead of ignoring it and jeopardizing my health further, I decide to be proactive and resolve my suffering, but get stuck with a 1700$+ bill. The dentist who performed the procedure even physically mailed them evidence of decay and appealed their denial and they STILL upheld their ruling. Terry, their customer service rep, was zero help. Just trying to understand what level of pain someone has to experience in order for this company to warrant coverage.Review from Janice L

such a scam, i had a cracked tooth and needed a crown to prevent further decay and pain, my dental insurance got bought out by Ameritas, I never got a policy or was aware that my benefits had diminished so much. Anyway, I had coverage for major services but just like everyone elses review, they denied my claim saying there isnt sufficent evidence of tooth decay or traumatic injury resulting in loss of tooth structure. My dentist said they've never seen anything like this before, we have appealed it twice and gotten denied both times.Review from Sherry D

Would not give them a star at all but have to to give review !!!!! Of course they are financially strong because they screw the consumer!!!! And thanks to the union used them as the insurance company . I have been getting the run a round for reimbursement for eyes and they say not in system call here , call there , call here , do this do that and now finally they say checks in the mail and guess what no check !!!! Now my mom won't have mother's day thanks to them screwing around , worst company ever for consumers , best for union CEOs and their company to make huge profits while the people the cover suffer the consequences.Review from Robert H

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I believe they are operating fraudulently or at the very least verge on malpractice. Their customer service is non-existent. We used them because of their association with AMBA and retired teachers Association. All are negligent!!! As another reviewer said - Ameritas is happy to take your premiums but never pay on claims!!! They would rather pay for the extraction of my teeth than to pay for the preventive measures to preserve them. I have cracked teeth and need crowns to preserve them- not uncommon with seniors!! This stupid company requires you to be hit in the mouth to have a crown. They declined the claim because there was "no evidence of traumatic injury". Fools!! All X-rays and dental prognosis was submitted. I cancelled immediately. DO NOT USE AMBA OR AMERITAS!!!Review from Jillian M

The supervisor whose name is Jasmine from Ameritas Dental, told me to get another tooth extracted if I wanted Ameritas to cover my upper partial because my teeth were missing before me signing up with them. I didn't come to them with missing teeth they never grew in from a genetic defect. Please DO NOT sign up with this company. They may have *decent dental* but their customer service is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC. My name is Jillian M****** I have no reason to hide. Don't do it. This company is miserable to quit. Impossible to get your money back from. It's taken me weeks to quit and they're still withdrawing money on days I didn't give permission. I'm still being told it'll be almost a month to process refunds. Don't waste your time.Review from Neicy J

At this moment I feel that this company is a scam. It has been well over 45 days waiting patiently for a refund. First time I called I was told I had to wait 30 days for a check they said had been issued. After 30 days I called back to be told a check was being issued immediately and I should receive it within 7 to 10 days. Today I’m being told that no check has ever been issued and they don’t know when one will be issued. Who can legally run a business like this. My premium is taking out of my checking monthly without problems why can’t we be reimbursed in a timely manner.Review from Raymond P

Ameritas Life Insurance double billed me in the same month. When I complained, they said they would refund the money to my bank account within 3-5 business days. They are creating a financial hardship for me. These guys should be banned from selling Insurance and Accessing anyone's financial institutions. Total FRAUD! The company has not reimbursed me for dental work done on 2/5/2024. They said they are having trouble with their vendor and don’t have date when they will send a check.
