My grandparents made the mistake of trusting Michael Booth to direct them in their Long Term Care journey. After my grandpa spent years investing over $60,000 into a Long Term Care plan with Genway, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and Alzheimer's. After his first trip to the hospital, which was traumatic for our entire family, he was sent home to hospice and we were told by Genway that we wouldn't begin receiving reimbursement for care until after a 90 day elimination period. Bullshit, but we find a solution. My uncle will fly in from out of state, take FMLA, and care for my grandpa until the 90 day elimination period was over. Well, my uncle's work called him back about a week before that period was over so my grandpa had to go to county hospital as he was unable to walk, had a catheter, and needed 24/7 monitoring due to the Alzheimer's. We wanted him to stay in the comfort of his own home so badly as we were told any change in environment to a person with Alzheimer's is a shock to their system, but we couldn't afford to pay for care out of pocket. The county hospital was supposed to fill that week that we needed help and we planned on taking him home after and would then begin receiving reimbursement then from Genway for his in-home hospice care. NOPE. 90 day period started over when he went back into the hospital. To say I'm disgusted and disappointed would be the understatement of the year. Michael, you should be ashamed of yourself and the care plans you're talking our elders into. Would your children be proud to call you their dad if they knew? Would your parents be proud to call you their son? I really, truly doubt it. I hope others get the chance to see this review before they make the MASSIVE, LIFE-ALTERING MISTAKE of choosing you to be their Long Term Care advisor. I only wish it wasn't too late for my own grandpa.
