I recently purchased products from Oriental Trading Company. However, when I received my latest credit card statement, I noticed an unrecognized charge from a company doing business as "FunRewards+" On 10/07 I noticed an unsolicited charge of 14.95 on my card. There was not a name associated with the charge only a number. After perusing some financial scam sites I noticed a pattern. Customers of OTC had been unknowingly charged for a membership that apparantly defaults to accepted after an order. I quickly cancelled this order after finding it on my bill. However, when I checked my email, I noticed that all communications from this entity had gone to my spam folder and I was unaware of any obligation or agreement entered into by means of an unrelated purchase. I find this business practice unethical and shady and casts doubts on what I thought was an otherwise reputable business.Business response

I made one order for birthday party supplies in September 2023. I did not knowingly sign up for any subscription rewards program. Oriental Trading has been charging my credit card $14.95/ month for the past year. I just noticed and canceled it. The representative on the phone said I "accepted the offer." I would never subscribe to any non-free rewards program.Business response

Last week, I discovered that Oriental Trading Company has been charging a monthly fee of $16.24 (including tax) to my credit card since Dec 2022 without my authorization. The total amount that has been fraudulently collected from me is currently $341.04. I contacted the company and requested an immediate cancellation of this subscription, as well as a refund for all previous charges that were collected fraudulently. They cancelled the subscription but only offered to refund the last four months' worth of charges ($64.96). This is not acceptable, and I am requesting a full refund.Business response

I have ordered from Oriental Trading Company a couple of times (literally like twice) and I have recently noticed that they have been charging my account monthly for who knows how long now. I’ve NEVER signed up for any subscription or and am still not even aware that they even offer any type of subscription. All I know, is that they have been stealing money from my account. This is extremely disheartening, especially since I used them specifically when I needed Biblical type party favors and such. You would think this company has better morals. Needless to say, I expect a full refund plus some and I will never be purchasing from this company again. I will advise the same to others.Business response

I realized yesterday that beginning in July of 2023, Oriental Trading Company has been charging a monthly fee of $14.95 to my credit card. I've only ever placed 1 order with Oriental Trading Company, order number ********* on 06/30/2023 for $53.99 including s/h. I never authorized these FunRewards+ charges. This is the only order I have ever made with this company. At present the total accumulated amount that has been fraudulently collected from me is $209.30! I called the company and requested a refund, but they told me they could only refund six months worth, ($89.70). This is not acceptable. I need a full refund of these "sneakily" collected funds.Business response

I discovered today that I was signed up by Oriental trading Membership on 12/12/23 without my knowledge. 2 rude reps told me I must have signed up if I had it. The 2nd one said I asked to retrieve log in info/change password- so it somehow translated to a monthly membership fee. I searched my emails. I have nothing showing I joined a membership and do not appreciate this company misleading. I wonder how many hundreds if not thousands of people are in the same situation. It was charging a card I do not use and did not discover until today. Shame on you OTC! VERY sneaky and you should be ashamed. Rude rep gave me 4 mos back- I asked for her boss- then, she became more rude and said she never said she wouldn't help- never let me speak to her boss but "someone" did another 2. I want all of it refunded. I am posting to yelp, neighborhood apps- anywhere I can to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.Business response

I ordered an acacia wood recliner from Oriental Trading Company made for outdoor use in May 2024 and I've been enjoying it on my deck. I didn't realize it was defective until I folded it to move it to the other side of my deck last week (around September 5). A crack had formed at a seam on the curve that will continue to crack with regular use until the chair finally breaks. I asked for and was denied a replacement or refund from Oriental Trading Company but they referred to their strict 30 day return policy that doesn't offer help for defective merchandise. I want a refund so I can find a replacement from a different company who cares about their customer. Thank you for considering my complaint.Business response

I ordered a 72 piece bulk assorted long arm stuffed animal kit for $134.99. Order number ********** Purchased on August 29th 2024. There are not 72 pieces included in this set. I've chatted with customer service twice. They are refusing a full refund. They're offering a partial refund or replacement. I do not want a partial refund or replacement. I don't trust this company, they're also quite rude. I will gladly return the shipment they sent me. I just want my money back.Business response
