      Only a 21 day timeframe to upgrade or cancel, not even 30 days. Will lose out on all my money if I cannot cancel for business reasons. Terrible policy. Do not recommend this company

      September 12 2024 I had booked 2 flights with this insurance, one for myself under my bosses company credit card and then one for my boyfriend under my personal card. I was attending a John Deere event in Nashville Dec 11th-14th. The policy for both went into effect 9/13/24. On Oct 24th, John Deere had sent out an email to all attendees that this portion of the event was canceled and will be moved to Dec 8th-11th. I had gotten non-refundable plane tickets, but was SO thankful for the insurance I purchased. Boy was I wrong. I had filed both claims with Zurich Travel Assist on Nov 11th and have been rejected twice to receive reimbursement, first rejection was Dec 18th and second was Jan 20th..just a couple days ago. Apparently I should have been able to control the change of event that happened??? Guess what, I wrote back again with my confirmation of coverage policy plan that clearly states coverage-trip cancellation. Shame on me for not doing my research!

      In April 2024, I traveled with my family to Asia and purchased Travelex travel insurance. Unfortunately, during the trip, my child caught a flu-like illness requiring urgent hospital care. After returning to the U.S., I filed a claim, but the process was frustrating. Over 3-4 months, I exchanged many emails with the claim examiner, who repeatedly requested more documents. Despite my detailed submissions, my claim was rejected. The claim examiner cited Travelex’s “trip definition” as the reason, claiming my trip didn’t qualify. I find this unacceptable. As a detail-oriented person, I reviewed the policy when purchasing but saw no mention of this definition. If it’s critical to eligibility, it should be "clearly" highlighted at purchase. I feel trapped by the lack of transparency. My claim was rejected for not having a return ticket, but we traveled with kids, and our return date depended on a family member’s health in Asia. Had I known this rule, I’d have bought a return ticket or chosen another provider. In today’s digital world, consumers review countless contracts, and businesses should clearly present "NON-STANDARD" conditions. I feel trapped, and I believe others could face similar issues when purchasing their travel insurance.

      I had a head injury that required surgery about a month before by bicycle tour in key west and after I sent all of the required documents for trip cancellation, they responded a few days afterwards to let me know that they received everything and it was under review. About 4 weeks after the claim was submitted, I received full trip reimbursement. This was very helpful for me since I could not work for 6 weeks after my surgery.

      Travelex Insurance purchased via VISTANA. I recently filed a claim in October 2024 (Trip Delay; Trip Cancellation; Trip Inconvenience) with our recent trip to Bahamas. This trip had a stopover in Florida. trip was cancelled due to weather conditions (hurricane/tornado) I phoned Travelex to inform them of the situation; completed and submitted all documents required for Travelex to process settle the claim. Communications received from the airlines via texts and email were sent to Travelex including all the expenses resulting from rebooking with another airline. I received an email on 11/18/24 from Senior Sara S. Senior Claims Examiner | BerkshireHathaway Specialty Insurance. I contacted her via email few times with no response in spite of the fact that the email heading I sent to her included the word URGENT. To this day, the claim not settled.

      I went to Africa for a filming job and got the insurance since I was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro…..I got sick and landed in the hospital ..I had hospital bill and hotel bill from the incident and made a claim…I emailed proof of everything and was told I would receive my claim 15 days …it’s been about 4 months and still have not heard anything from their end other it’s going to be another two weeks every time I talk to them…I wouldn’t recommend this insurance at all…their customer service and customer care is on the back burner

      You are NOT COVERED if you book your return flight after you depart OR if you change your return flight without requesting a change from them. Do yourself a favor and AVOID at all cost because this is such a SLIMY COMPANY. Travelex underwritten by Berkshire Hathaway. The coverage and cost seemed to be a great option. My wife needed to go to the ER while on our trip and thought ‘great thing we bought travel insurance’ because obviously this was going to be costly. She got taken care of, we paid for everything, and then filed a claim. About 3 weeks later we finally get a response asking some odd questions including proof of our flights (even though the hospital was in the country we said we were going to). Little did I know that these questions were SNEAKY ways to get out of paying claims. We sent our flight info to them and waited another few weeks. They messaged us back asking which day we booked our return flight because, even though we’re well within the time period of coverage…YOU ARE NOT COVERED if you book your return flight after you depart OR if you change your return flight without requesting a change from them. I went through and read the contract again and it was very briefly worded on pages 34 and 37 of the 59 page contract. ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE. This why they start off with asking these questions because it’s is an easy way to toss out lots of claims. Don’t make the same mistake as us and go with someone else.

      I would not recommend Travelex for trip insurance. Our family was caught in the Delta outage, stranded for days and completely missed our family vacation. We submitted our claim the day Delta cancelled our flights and were unable to even get us home. We have been pushed back, now up to ten weeks on what should be a three week decision time, and repeatedly blown off when calling to check status. In addition, I requested a call back from a manager for “real” honest answers, was told we would receive a call and never did. Just told to wait three weeks. When I followed up after the second three week period, we were yelled at, literally yelled at, and told we were 140 in their queue, and it would be another four weeks. Unreal and disappointing.

During the review, BHSIC also listened to each call and found there was no yelling, on either side, however they can understand your frustration with the claim handling, and they will be coaching the claim representative on this interaction.       Travelex denied my claim for a positive covid case. I got a doctor's note that clearly stated I was diagnosed with covid less than 5 days before my trip. But because I used telemedicine and didn't waltz into a doctor's office while I had covid, they denied my claim on the basis that there is no way that the doctor could have verified that I actually had covid, even though I had a signed doctor's note. Complete utter bullshit

      I recently used teavelex because insurance was required and my agent recommended them! I was not able to board my plane because of a supposed problem with my visa! Turns out visa was OK! I files a claim and was denied! Bottom line, travelex are crooks and will do anything they can to deny your claim!
