There is one row of clapboards that still needs to be installed, and we would like receipt of the ****** that has been paid. Also documentation for whatever warranty there is.

I entered into a contract with Peter R**** of Great Dane Construction on October 17, 2022. Peter was scheduled to start work on my Barn in Fall of 2022. As per the terms of the contract, I paid Great Dane $12,500 in advance to buy the necessary materials and hire a team I have proof of payment of this money. No work was completed. $15,000 was given on April 4, 2023 in order to complete the work. I have proof of payment of this money. No work was completed. On July 19, 2024 an additional $20,000 was given for the work to be completed in fall 2023. See the attached check. Peter hired a subcontractor that delivered equipment, gravel, cribbing and supplies. The subcontractor removed a large garage type door off the back of the barn and placed some gravel down, but never cribbed or stabilized the barn. It has been in that state without any work agreed to since the fall. It is now February 2024 and Great Dane has not completed any work since entering the contract. I am now demanding a refund for $47,500 plus repair and restoration costs of the damage done to the barn and surrounding area. I am also looking for all materials, debris, and equipment to be removed and the lawn restored to its previous condition. I have made countless attempts through phone and text to remedy this situation with Peter at Great Dane and I have records of conversations with him stating he will return the money and issue a check but without any action.

    ********,

Thanks for the follow up!  I am hoping that the BBB will be able to help me resolve this without needing to go to take legal action.  I have not started legal action yet and I realize that you cannot compel any business to take action, but with your help I'm hoping we can reach a solution.  If this process doesn't work I'm leaving my options open to exploring that in the future.

I understand it may take some time but I'm willing to try to work out a solution through this process.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Great Dane took 75% of my money to renovate my bathroom and walked out on me, leaving me with a “bathroom” that has no toilet, no sink, no shower, no lights, no electricity, no door, and unfinished walls and ceiling. In August, we signed a contract and I put down 50% to begin work. He came in and ripped out my old bathroom down to the studs and then just stopped showing up for days or even weeks at a time. Every week he made promises about returning to work, every week he failed to show, giving me lie after lie after lie, until after 2 months had passed with no bathroom, he told me that he would not do any more work until I gave him more money. When I said no, he refused to come back and stopped talking to me - leaving this space in my bedroom that not only had no floor (or door to close it off) so was incredibly dangerous, it was filled with construction debris, including nails sticking out of boards, and trash - including food wrappers to bring bugs into my bedroom. At this point, his assistant called and offered to get someone to come out to install the floor and tile what was to be the shower if I agreed to pay the next 25% in return and, I was assured, in writing, they would then be out the next week to complete the bathroom. They sent a sub to do the tile and floor that weekend, so I held my side of the agreement and gave them the next check, which they immediately cashed and then never returned again (except 1 morning, a month later, when they sent 3 guys to sit in my driveway for 20 minutes and refuse to come in, at which point I seriously feared for my safety). The next day (this was now in December - nearly 4 months after ripping out my bathroom) they sent me a letter stating that they would no longer work for me. I asked for my money back and they sent me a 2nd letter saying they would not return any of my money to me.
