Benson Auto failed my vehicle for state inspection and tried charging for work that did not need to be complete according to state of New Hampshire Saf-C 3200 Official Motor Vehicle Requirements provide by Statutory Authority RSA 21-P:14, V(a). 3215.05 covers auxiliary driving lamps and fog lamps. There are only 3 reasons to fail a vehicle for fog lights. None of these reason have to do with the functioning of the lights and only the location of them. There is some moisture in one of the lights from an accident that happened to it before I bought it and the light wasn't repaired- because it wasn't damaged. Benson Auto wanted my to pay over $800 to replace the whole fixture and failed it because "right side assembly has water in it." I never use the fog lights, but if I did they work perfectly fine. The water isn't in the light, it is in a decorative lens that is along side the light fixture. When I went back, because it was my wife that took my car in for the inspection, to show them that they accidently applied the part of the code. They applied the headlight section of the code, which is several sections prior. When I showed them they weren't even looking at the right part of the code and they refused to admit their mistake. They even offered an excuse that they didn't want the State Police showing up because they put a sticker on that they shouldn't have. They simply did not want to admit that they were charging for work that did not need to be completed. The Department of Safety has the information and they are investigating. Beware - You WILL be charged for work that does not need to be completed if you go get your car inspected at Benson Auto in Franklin, NH.
