Ive just received a notice of collections from a medical account that was paid in full in December of 2022. I would like this collections agency to acknowledge there is a zero balance and this is not a valid debt.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/02/2023

We have investigated the consumers dispute and confirmed the account balance with the Original Creditor on both 5/24/23 and 6/1/23. Validation of the debt confirming the account balance is correct was also mailed to the consumer directly on 5/24/23. This account remains open and due for the verified amount of $25 confirmed by the Original Creditor as of 6/1/2023.

      Complaint: 20122414

I am rejecting this response because:

The debt was paid in full and the original bill was marked as paid in full with the final payment of $200 on 12/19/22. We selected the option to pay the bill in full at that time and $200 is what populated as the final payment.

This is fraud to try to extort additional monies via a new collections agency nearly 6 months after we were advised the debt was paid in full (and there was no further contact or attempts by the previous agency to advise that they made a billing error or any additional amount was due) after we paid the balance in full with the $200 payment on 12/19/22.

Please change my account back to paid in full status or I will file a complaint with NJs OAG.

      Regards,
