I took my 2013 GMC Terrain to my local mechanic and he diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new transfer case. He explained that the fluid came out metallic when he drained it. I immediately told him to leave the vehicle alone because that transfer case was replaced less than ****** miles ago by RK Chevrolet of Vineland. RK's service suggests that the first service on a case should be at ****** miles. ** the unit just made it half way. They replaced the fluid in the case and we arranged for transport to Novice GMC of Bridegton ** after speaking with GM ************** The vehicle was diagnosed at Novick and we were told that the transfer case fluid is fine and they do not hear any noise coming from it. However, they do hear noise in the ball joint and arm. In addition, they told me the vehicle has a major oil leak at the crank seal. I asked if that is something that would be replaced with the installation of all new pistons. I was told that they didn't have the exact part list in front of them to tell. I asked for the part number and it in fact was replaced in 2020. They told me that there is only a 2 year warranty on this part that costs ****************************************************************************** that I would have to pay for the repairs and then I could apply for reimbursement. Let's rewind to 2020 when all of this work was completed. I only had the oil changed at RK because we were completing an oil consumption test because the seals were failing and GM was covering the installation of new pistons. I am over this joke of warranties fro parts. Because I drive fewer miles a year, parts are only supposed to last approximately ******. Major parts? In addition, the transfer case happened to blow a hole in the side of it after I turned down a service on the case. It blew on my way home. We believe someone forgot to put fluid back in it. We could never prove it 3 years ago. I have all receipts from original work.

I dropped my vehicle off on Monday May 8. I called (12:08 pm) on the way over as I was bringing it from another shop who had already diagnosed the issue as an ignition switch failure. I was told that while I didn't have an appointment, my vehicle would be able to be looked at the following day- Tuesday (the 9th), and I was ok to drop it off as it was close to the end of the day. I authorized them to begin the diagnostic work and was told if it exceeded 3 hours, they would let me know. I followed up with minimal contact from the shop at the following times:5/10/23 8:05am and 3x's around 3:45pm, no answer 5/11/23 4:03pm, no response 5/12/23 9:48am and 2:40pm 5/13/23 Twice at 1:22pm, no answer 5/15/23 10:44am - was told they were diagnosing the vehicle - at 5:15pm they called me - this is the ONLY time they called me to tell me they were working on getting the part and the repair. I was asked to authorize the work. I was not given an calculation on the diagnostic time. He told me I would hear from him the next day. No call came in or went out on the 16th.5/17/23 2:29pm - I was told they were almost done. I called again at 3:51pm and they told me the car was done. They called only once in the 9 days they had my vehicle. When I could get ahold of someone, they told me it was going to be looked at first thing in the morning. I went to pick up the car on the 17th and was given a bill of $1,320.00. When I asked for the breakdown of the charge I was provided with an invoice with written times: 3.2 hours diagnostic and 3 hours install plus part cost. I told them when I dropped it off what it was- there was no reason for over 3 hours diagnostic time nor does anything online show that the part replacement should exceed an hour on average. It's a high price considering the average cost and the time I was without my vehicle or even contact.
