I stopped patronizing Carestation Medical Group in Linden as a patient from July 2023, after more than 10 years. I stopped because I explained to them I was dissatisified with their refusal to send my prescriptions to the pharmacy without a visit, during an hospitalization. They have since been calling to make an appointment and I refused. More than one year after a treatment, they have just sent me a bill for a past service. I take this billing as punitive and malacious. In April 2023, I was given a knee brace for a sprain, without any information about it being chargeable or the likely cost. I would have rejected the brace had I been given information but they were silent and made it look like something they would just give away. Now, they are sending a charge more than a year later for no clear reasons at a cost that is tantamount to price gouging. I called their billing center for an explanation and the removal of the charges but they refused. I then asked why the bill waited for one year. They checked and informed me they did not send the bill to the insurance until one year later because of an undisclosed system error and that when they eventually did, the insurance only paid part of it. The knee brace was billed for $345.57 and the insurance paid Carestation $230.38 - they now require me to pay a balance of $115.19. This is the type of knee brace that I found for $54.15 on ******.***. So, it is not just a form of price gouging, it is also a vindictive bill which I told them I will rather not pay. I ***plain to request their discharge and removal of the bill and desist from pressing for collection.
