I am filing this complaint to formally report my negative experience with Grimmer Brothers Railings of Ocean, NJ regarding a project I hired them to complete. Below is a detailed account of the situation: I contracted Grimmer Brothers Railings in late August of 2024 to fabricate and install railings at my home, with an agreed-upon completion time of 8 weeks. I paid the company a deposit of $1,900 to initiate the project. After the initial 8-week deadline passed, the company failed to deliver the completed railings. When I followed up, the owner provided a series of excuses for the delay, including equipment failures, forgetting scheduled dates, and taking extended holiday breaks. This pattern of excuses continued for over two and a half months, during which multiple new installation dates were promised but never fulfilled. Despite our mutually agreeing on a final deadline, the company failed to meet it. I requested a refund of my deposit, but my request was ignored. Communication ceased entirely. Upon further investigation, I discovered that Grimmer Brothers Railings operates without the contractor’s license required under New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act. Additionally, I learned that Grimmer Brothers Railings appears to be a rebranding of two previous businesses operated by Mr. Grimmer—Brothers Ornamental Railings and Brothers Railings LLC. Publicly available reviews corroborate my experience (including complaints on this site, the ***: *****://***.***.***/**/**/****-******/*******/-****-********), with other customers reporting similar issues, including missed deadlines, unfulfilled contracts, and unreturned ********. I am seeking assistance in recovering the deposit of $1,900 that is owed to me. I also request that this complaint be documented to warn other potential customers about the company’s practices. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Feel free to contact me if additional information is needed.
