I would like to file a complaint against Island Auto Sales in *************, **. In April of 2020 I went there with my boyfriend to try and obtain a car loan in which I signed for a 2014 ************ Camry. However, we ended up declining that loan and returning that vehicle. However, on April 22, 2020 Island Auto fraudulently transferred my personal information and opened up a new car loan for ******************************* (my boyfriends brother who is also a personal friend of this company) and added me as a co-signer for his loan without my knowledge or consent. It was only recently that I found out about this and when I realized that my credit drastically decreased due to non-payment, I tried to resolve this issue numerous times since then. I disputed this through Credit Karma and reached out to the bank(Credit Acceptance). I was told to take it up with Island Auto which is when I went to resolve this matter in person and was told that Island Auto could not and would not do anything. I then called the bank again and explained the situation and they informed me that they would open up a fraud claim against Island Auto. I feel that they should be fined and held responsible for fraudulent activity which I have come to learn that this company has been known to do in the past. This has drastically and negatively affected my credit status, my well being and my being able to obtain any other loan for personal matters. This is a situation that I would like to get resolved immediately so I can get my credit to return to its good status and so I can move forward without this matter affecting me. If you have any questions, you can contact me directly at **************. Thank you!

Hello *********************, after looking into the records, we can confirm that statements you have made against island auto sales on this BBB review are false accusations. Our records indicate and corroborate that the 2014 ****** Camry purchased on 02/20/2020 was not financed under your name. It was finnanced through *************************** and financed under **** and *********************************. The loan was canceled due to default on the first payment by the customers listed above. Therefore, the loan was canceled by the financing company listed above and Island Auto Sales was held responsible to purchase the loan back. In April of 2020; you, ********************* and *************************** were in dire need of a vehicle and you came to Island Auto sales for assistance in purchasing another vehicle. To accommodate you as our previous customer, we submitted a credit application for you ********************* and *************************** to obtain a loan under both of your names which you consent to be a Co-signer and provided ** with your SSN, Pay Stubs and other personal required information for the matter of approval for the loan. The welcome packages from the bank ************************* were sent to each of the signers on the loan to inform those who are on the loan, payments information and other information related to the loan. You were most definitely aware that you Co-signed and were on the loan. On June 16, 2023 you decided to stop by Island Auto Sales after three years and two months later requesting if you could be removed as a Co-Signer because you are no longer in a relationship with your ex partner. You were informed by the Manager that the loan is handled by the bank ************************* and we have no control over that.  Also, these are your personal matters which have nothing to do with Island Auto Sales and everything reported by you on this review are lies and false allegations.

I am rejecting this response because:
The response and information that Island Auto has provided regarding my case is completely false and I have others such as *************************** himself to attest that we have NEVER been in a relationship nor did we apply for a loan together. I have been with ***************************** brother, ********************************* for the past 5 years and that is the only person that I tried to obtain an auto loan with from Island Auto. This is certainly not a personal matter nor has it ever been one. This situation certainly involves fraudulent activity as Island Auto stated when I spoke to them in person that they Could not remember what they ate last week let alone something that happened 3 years ago, which I find to be an unacceptable response. I also did not wait 3 years to try to resolve this issue. As *** stated, I have tried to dispute this many times in the past through Credit Karma and more recently through the bank and Island Auto. I also called Island Auto a week or two prior to stopping in and spoke with either ******************************* or ***********************; who is their general manager and tried to resolve this matter over the phone in which I was then told that they would look into this. However, I never received a call back from them. At that point, I went to discuss this issue in person with them which resulted with no resolution. They also could not provide me with any information or proof that I supposedly co-signed for this loan. All I want is for justice to be served and for certain parties to be held accountable for illegal matters. I do not and should not be held responsible or connected to this matter that has absolutely nothing to do with me. If this matter does not get resolved soon, I will take legal action against Island ************ parties involved.

    Regards,

    *********************

I purchased a ****** Altima on June 29,2022 at island auto sales. I was convinced to finance the vehicle instead of buy here pay here which wasnt a problem at first. I didnt not know that I was getting ripped off for my money. - Before purchasing the very I took it for a test drive and I was satisfied with the condition the car was in. There were no sounds and as a former auto inspector I would know if there was a problem with the car. -After a few days of having the car I started to notice unfamiliar things such as a and the left suspension. -I took it it to the dealership and voiced my concern and they attempted to fix it. He replaced the wheel bearings and the sway bar links. - after a few more days of driving I took it back and let them know that the sound did not disappear and therefor was not fixed. Not only was it not fixed but there was a new squeaking sound and it came everytime I hit a bump. One of the dealers assisted me and took me out for a drive and tried to convince that the sounds I was hearing was normal. - (Everytime I would hit a bump it would make the car sway left and right and I would slightly lose control of the vehicle) - I tried to voice that but he tried to outsmart me and make me feel belittled because of my age(18). - additionally they told me that the car was a salvage title only because a dent in the back but after asking for the cars history he showed me more than what he originally told me. - I also have a constant air leak on my rear tire that I brought up and I kept being it up and when he finally addressed it he found out that the rim was cracked. - I took my car to the ****** dealership and they addressed my concerns and let me know that I wasnt the only one. I took it back t the dealership and I was emotionally insulted and I asked if I could get my money back and they said I wouldnt be able to get my full money back instead Ill be able to get 10% back.
