Nov 14th took my car in for front brakes + PVC vent system + timing belt kit (maintenance). Total = ****, about $850 for timing belt. I asked the owner ***** if he knew how to do a timing belt on a ****** he said piece of cake. When he was done working on my car I noticed she was running rough. He said I dont know what to tell you, drive it for a day and let me know how shes running. The next day I told him the car was idling rough and there was loss of power and I thought the timing was off. I dropped the car back off to him I think it was Tues or Wed of that wk. Thursday he calls me telling me the car was ready for pick up BUT he couldnt get the timing dead on because he doesnt have the proper tool. He then told me the tool is $200 and he WAS NOT paying for it and it would take a week to get it! I did not have the $200 + it wasnt right I should have to pay for it. After adamantly refusing to do the right thing, buy the tool and fix my car he offered me $391 refund to take the car somewhere else to have the timing fixed. That was after calling all his mechanic friends, none of which would help/get involved. He gave me NO OTHER CHOICE!! I reluctantly took the $$ and my car back on Thursday night. Friday I called over a dozen mechanics and NONE would help me!!! Either they didnt have the tool, the time or didnt want to get involved and no one was gonna do it for less that $800!! They all said that they might have to replace the parts he installed/the valves could be bent = ***** repair ,etc I have lost about **** in income since the 14th and will not be able to pay my rent and will be evicted. No one will buy my car that was worth ***** a couple wks ago and is now worth $800 for parts! I have an interference engine, the timing must be dead on or you will have significant loss of power as I do + do severe damage to valves, pistons, rods.
