On Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 I was driving to work when my 2014 Mazda 6 starting having mechanical issues. Since the check engine light turned on I decided to take the car directly to ************ Mazda as I have in the past when my car needed to be inspected. Upon arrival, I went directly to the customer service desk and informed the of the problem and dealt the Service Director, Juanita F. I told her exactly what happened to the car and agreed to pay the $215 dollars they charge for a vehicle diagnosis as I have in the past (January 2024 to be exact). Hours later, I received a diagnostic video from the service department informing me of what is wrong with the car and recommending that I need an approximately $12,000 new engine. I later asked how much they would give me for the car since a $12,000 engine would be worth more than the car and I was offered $300. I sent the same diagnostic video to a mechanic of 20 years for his opinion and he thought the entire video was fraudulent and wanted to diagnosis the car himself. The next day I picked up the car and paid $229.24 just for them to tell me I needed a $12,000 engine. I then paid $290 to have the car towed to the 3rd party mechanic's garage approximately 40 miles away. Upon arrival, the 3rd party did the same tests that they did at the Mazda dealership and was able to fix the car by replacing the spark plugs ($100 fix). While it sounds like a scam, I will just assume that this is the result of the negligence or inexperience of the mechanic. I spent more money than I should have to have the car repaired and all I am asking for is a refund for the misdiagnosis when in reality they should probably pay for the tow as well. I can provide any additional information you may need (Videos, 3rd party tests, invoices, receipts, etc) upon request. The car is now running fine and I can even bring it back to ************ Mazda to prove it to them.
