On 12/5/2021 I bought a Christmas snow globe lantern from this store. It was displayed on a shelf with a price tag of $74.99. I asked a store employee to bring one to me. She nodded and walked away. I waited 15 minutes and she never returned. The store was crowded and the line for the cashier was very long. I walked around to the area outside of the cashier booth and outside of the line. I asked a woman in the booth if she knew where the employee was who I had asked to bring me the snow globe. She replied, "She already brought it here, we have it for you". There was also a man in the booth and he asked me, in a hurried and pressuring fashion, to come around to the front of the line. I did so, and he took my credit card and handed me the bagged merchandise and a receipt. I never saw a sign regarding their store's return policy.When I returned home my daughter decided to check for the item online, and found it offered for $42.00. I bought it. Forcellati had charged me $74.99. That is 78% higher! Today I traveled 45 minutes from my home back to this store. I saw the same man behind the counter. I told him I wanted to return the item and asked for a refund.He told me he would accept the return but the store's policy is "Store Credit Only". He showed me a small sign with very small print, partially hidden behind the glass barrier at the cashier's desk. The words "Store Credit Only" were small and difficult to read. There was also a woman standing behind the counter with this man. I believe that both of them are the owners of the store. I believe I had been taken advantage of. It's one thing to charge higher prices because of higher costs incurred by the business, but I a ****-up over normal retail pricing of 78% is excessive, and the owners refused to issue a refund for the return. The owners have effectively said, "You made the purchase, now we have your money and will keep it, regardless that you believe we grossly over-charged you."
