  Went to Avant Garde Dental Arts for the first time. The dentist assigned was a very young lady. I was there for an evaluation and was told I needed a molar extraction. Paid a portion of $588 and I do have dental insurance as well. I was given an appt. to come back another day. On that day, the dentist was continuously couching through her mask to the point that I had to ask if she was okay? The dentist decided to hack and cut away at this molar to the point of me swallowing bits and piece of the molar. Bone graft was done and the gum was stitched up in that immediate area. Upon me going to the receptionist desk, I was asked to pay an additional $1589 ? I was initially told when I went there for the first time that the charges would be submitted and I would be rebilled. I didn't have the money and instructed to submit the bill to my insurance. When I got home, I decided to call my dental insurance **** and I was told by the **** that a predetermination was to have taken place first before any procedure was done to see what the coverage would be and what portion of the charges would be considered. This protocol was not followed by Avant Garde. That evening I bled quite a bit and realized something was not right. I decided to go to another dentist office and was told that the reason I bled so much was that the bone graft was not there due to the improper stitching in that the stitches were done on one side of the gum only and not done with the criss-cross method. I was also told that I had an infection as well. The new dentist redid the whole procedure in the replacement of the bone graft and restitched that immediate area and given some medication. I spent an additional $750. What a horrendous experience at this Avant Garde place.
