I am writing to formally submit a complaint against Mr. Charlies R***** of Jays Painting. In September, he undertook the painting of my residence under a contract that explicitly stipulated the use of paint from Sherwin-Williams. However, contrary to his agreement, he utilized inferior quality paint sourced from Lowe's. As a result, I am now experiencing significant issues with chipping and peeling paint on various surfaces throughout my home. Additionally, I have observed that some doors are sticking, which raises concerns and potential damage during routine cleaning efforts. The application appears unprofessional and does not meet industry standards for quality workmanship. I fear further cleaning will damage the walls. This not only detracts from the aesthetic appeal, but also raises concerns about long-term durability and potential damage to my property. He also watered down the black paint and when I asked him why he was watering down the paint, he replied it was to prevent brush marks. Despite multiple assurance from Mr. R***** regarding necessary touch-ups and corrections to these problems, these commitments remain unfulfilled. This situation has caused considerable distress and inconvenience for me and my family as we expected professional results based on our contractual agreement. I kindly request your assistance in addressing this matter promptly.

I wanted to share that Mr. R***** visited my home and addressed our concerns.  He mentioned he would return on January 2nd and 3rd to complete the necessary work, which is appreciated.  However, I'd like to kindly express that I will need to hold off on accepting his response until all work is satisfactorily finished. It's important for me that everything is resolved properly so we can move forward without any lingering issues.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.  I truly appreciate your support and look forward to resolving it soon.

8/6/24 Hired Charles R***** from Jays Painting to repair west wall of my house and paint entire house after solar equipment removal $8,718 total, paid $3,000 down payment. See photo 8/10/24 Charles R***** added a second contract of $3,013.50 for additional materials to fill holes left by solar equipment. Downpayment of $1,500. See photo 8/22/24 W/o warning PNM finally accepted 2020 solar application. Decided not to remove Solar equipment, but proceeded to paint house. Requested to renegotiate second contract since solar was not going to be removed. Agreed to repair pergola with sanding and clear coat Tue 9/24/24 House prep began Wed 9/25/24 Painting began Fri 9/27/24 Charles said painters would stay overtime to finish job. Paid Charles in full. See photo-receipt written with wrong date (9/26/24). Painters did not stay overtime, rushed the pergola job and left at 5pm. Pergola left splintery. 9/30 Painters returned to finish but Charles had not left proper ladder. He left two ladders too short to finish painting back trim on house. See photos. 10/24/24 Cannot get Charles to return to finish job. Have contacted him many times via text. He makes appts but never keeps them claiming his truck is being repaired for a tensioner replacement. He’s used this excuse about his truck since 9/24. The whole job is so close to finish. His painters were excellent, but pergola needs to be refinished since it was rushed. I need help to get Charles to finish job with appropriate ladder. I have been storing two ladders and painter sign Charles left at my house including cans of paint and mixing buckets also left behind. See photos.

I am rejecting this response because:
Business never came to my house today as stated. I waited over two hours for Charles R*****. I could not wait longer due to an appt. He now says he will come on Monday, 11/11, but he’s told so many lies and stood me up so many times that I no longer believe he will complete this job.

Jay’s Painting Documentation (edited on 8/29/2022 to add more details, particularly at the bottom of this document) Jays painting reached out to me on 7/6/2022 via Angi’s email/site 7/7/2022 Charles R***** aka Jays Paining came to the home to look at the walkway and provide an estimate. He prepared a contract and quoted $2003.97 to repair the concrete, repair it for epoxy, and finally apply the epoxy. After much consideration, we decided to go with Jays/Charles. R**** asked us to choose the color we wanted from a website he pulled up on from the Sherwin Williams (SW) website on his cellular phone. R***** stated he only purchases his products from SW. We chose the MOCHA color which he documented in his notes. MOCHA matches the Stucco we have on our home. In addition, we asked for paint flakes to add slip resistance during the winter months. 7/7 /2022- R***** took a 1000.00 deposit and stated he would be on site with his workers to do the work the last week of July. He indicated it would take 3 full days from start to finish. Text messages demonstrate how he cancelled for no good reason the entire week other than having one employee sand by hand and pressure wash the walkway. 7/27/2020 Fellow by the name of Jorge arrived 3:30ish to sand the walkway. Left at 6:00 after sanding by hand and power washing. R***** originally stated Jorge would arrive at 9:00 am. 8/1/2022- Following the “no show excuses” I phoned Angi’s. Spoke with Solutions team member. Phone number ###-###-####. Female offered to file formal complaint which would be resolved by an Arbitration group. I asked to hold off due to fear of losing the deposit. The female phoned Charles and he texted that he would arrive at 9:00 AM the next day with Jorge (worker) to fix the cracks. Many text messages following. 8/1/2022- With lies continuing to build I became more concerned about the project not proceeding. R***** stated that he would purchase the epoxy at Sherwin William’s comm
