I took my Pyranees cross in to get brushed out and bathed in January 2023. I was very clear with the groomer NOT to shave him, as you are never supposed to shave a double coated dog. Although I brushed my dog, he did have more mats than I was able to remove which is why I sought the help of a groomer. I told the groomer to call me if my dog was in pain while being brushed, so I could pick him up instead. Nevertheless, she left a message - which I still have - saying: "for the most part I have (my dog) brushed out, it was just his underbelly and backside that he was not happy with. on his top coat and but I just thought I'd let you know before you pick him up so you're not surprised when he's naked on his belly." I immediately went to pick him up and was SHOCKED to see what she had done to him - he was a beautiful dog and looked absolutely ridiculous after she had him! She had, in fact, shaved him to the skin on his underbelly, around his ears, behind and elbows. He kept licking at his crotch and stomach. The owner happened to be there. When I told her how upset I was, especially since I was very clear not to shave him, she brushed it off, saying that he was just not used to the air hitting his stomach. Clearly the groomer took the easy route and went against my wishes when she shaved him. She even took photos of my dog while he was there, which a relative of her later posted on Nextdoor without my permission when I posted about the service. Professional groomers should know never to shave a double coated dog, as the coat will never grow back the same. This was done in January 2023, and the hair that has grown back is now coarse under his stomach which is why I'm now posting about the incident. Do not use Woof Gang to groom a double coated dog. Hopefully they learned their ******* but the lack of ownership about this mistake was sorely lacking with both the owner and the groomer.
