This complaint is in regards to Medical Genetics of Nevada LLC. The office manager ****/***** is completely unprofessional and has a terrible demeanor when dealing with patients. I should have stayed clear of this practice after reading the awful reviews, but I gave the practice a chance, thinking things would be different. The first instance is when I called in July 2022, trying to make an appointment for my son, ***** answered and I started asking about appointments, she immediately asks what my insurance once I told her United Healthcare and as I was explaining that effective September 1, we would be switching to another insurance she cut me off and stated we dont accept UHC, call back when your other insurance is effective. Fast forward to end of August 2022, I called back to schedule an appointment and she got us on 9/7/22, we went to an empty office, because clearly no one wants to go there due to *****. ***** welcomed us rather dry and unfriendly, she immediately asked for our copay. We then saw ************************ and everything was fine during that, we schedule a zoom telehealth appointment for 9/22/22 to discuss my sons genetic syndrome. 9/22/22 my sons appointment was scheduled at 12:20, I waited on zoom for 20 minutes for ************************ to come and discuss my sons syndrome. Come October 1, 2022, I see in my UMR both claims are denied since it was asking for the other insurance we still had from my husbands prior full-time position. I updated UMR with the prior insurance and mentioned it would end 9/27/22. During which that time, I began receiving bills from this practice, as they stated my insurance denied my claims and a $1000 balance owed. I called UMR and updated once again, any additional information needed to the insurance. I called and left Medical Genetics of Nevada a message saying that I contacted the insurance in regards to reprocessed the claim. ***** responded through the message portal saying she received my voicemail. Once everything was resubmitted, CPT code ***** was initially denied. ***** began sending passive aggressive messages about the outstanding balances which I have provided. After calling UMR a couple more times to find out why it was denied, one representative mentioned the code wasnt an approved code. On 10/31/22, I sent a message to ***** and mentioned that the code wasnt accepted and if they could provide a modifier, she replied very nastily and said no everything was correct and she would not be resubmitting anything and then made it unable for me to respond back to her on the messaging app and that I could only call the office. I called the office 10/31 and left a voicemail and still never received a call back or anything. After speaking to ********, a representative with UMR who was incredibly helpful and kind, she relooked over 9/22/22s claim and told me Medical Genetics of Nevada should not be charging me for CPT code ***** (which I found out was an extra 15 minutes they were charging me for) and then broke everything done for me to understand. The practice eats the cost and then she referred me to ****** with risk management to proceed with this complaint. ****** was amazing and helped me tremendously. ****** also overlooked all my claims and stated that the practice could not charge me for an extra fifteen minutes as well. Reading the previous reviews on this practice, it seems this office manager, does not want to follow procedure nor do her office manager duties. I have included the following exchanges and the constant emails from this practice in regards to the outstanding balance they are not supposed to bill me. I am extremely disappointment in this practice and how this office manager ***** treats Dr. *********** patients. ***** needs to be investigated and either retrained on how to do her job. She is trying to deceive patients into paying for bills that are clearly not supposed to be billed. It is the practice eating the cost and ***** should not be trying to take advantage of others with the practices financial losses.I currently have a complaint through UMRs risk management that will be going to the network in regards to this. I just received a final notice before sending to collections message about this outstanding balance on 11/18/22.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/06/2023

I am unable to directly respond to this complaint as it would be in violation of HIPPA rules.  **************** companies often misinform their customers regarding charges made by physicians as a justification for non payment of services rendered.  This practice has been occurring with increasing frequency as of late.
