Consumer Portfolio Services was paid on time and more than what my monthly payment was often times. When the vehicle was taken in to the dealer for repeated warranty problems, the dealer paid CPS ( I was sitting right there when dealership called for a payoff ) they wrote the check out and sent it. THE FULL AMOUNT. On Sept 5 2024, *** filed derogatory remarks on my credit report tanking my credit score claiming Grid 9 *************** Claim. This was after they had reported a week prior that my account t was paid in full/closed They have refused on several occasions to send me any information regarding the closing of my account and locked me out of my online account. It appears they are using my information to commit insurance fraud in order to get more money.

Consumer Portfolio Services, Inc. (***) has reviewed the complaint, account and telephone interactions. The Customer called on April ******* and spoke to a *** representative. The Customer notified *** that the vehicle was traded in the past Saturday and *** should be expecting a payoff check. The Customer asked if the upcoming payment due on April 17, 2024, needed to be paid and was told it is recommended as Dealers do not always issue a payoff right away. Upon review of the entire telephone interaction, it was also confirmed that the *** representative did not tell the Customer that the April payment would be refunded upon receipt of the payoff from the Dealer. It was said to the Customer that they would receive a refund if there was any overpayment from the payoff check, not that the entire April payment would be refunded after the payoff check is received. *** conducted an audit and confirmed that you qualify for a refund of $40.04. The refund was issued in the form of a check and was mailed to the address on file on August 15, 2024. Please note,*** has no control over how quickly the **** Postal will deliver the refund.*** recommends allowing 7-10 business days before asking for a new refund check to be issued. *** will mail a copy of the audit, signed contract and payment history to the address listed on the account.
