First, I should mention that I am a US citizen but currently living in *****, as I was part of a Doctoral Program at a University. Due to various circumstances stemming from the pandemic, I had very little time to complete the writing and analysis of my dissertation, so was looking for a service that could help me with some of the workload. I had only a day or two to complete so of the parts, so it was incredibly high-pressure and I was very, very desperate. I contacted Precision Consulting, and they were very kind, said they could absolutely help and do it right away, but for me to make a payment.I had asked them for their policy and written contracts, but all my requests were ignored. I was weary, but was desperate and had no choice, and made the initial payment. They said they got to work, but I didn't hear from them, but when they finally got back, they said I needed to make another $250 payment if I wanted to expedite. I did, and they quickly sent me an analysis which was entirely incorrect and unusable. When I questioned about it, they stated that "it is a collaboration" and "they follow the literature" (which was from a different field and not pertinent). I did not push the issue and kept it polite, because I was afraid I would not be able to get anything I needed. In the end, what they gave me was junk, and I would no longer be able to complete my doctorate program. I asked for a refund, and without any discussion of the amount, they provided a partial refund. I tried to be reasonable and I asked to talk to a manager, who accused me of haggling and various other rude things, and said they would provide another $150 refund if I could provide documentation that a degree was not awarded. I provided the documentation last week, but the 2 emails I have sent have been ignored. They still did not provide any policy or contract information, and I genuine believe they are a scam. I can provide our entire e-mail correspondence if necessary, and detailed info.

      Date: 07/01/2024

      To whom it may concern:

The initial work was completed in a timely manner and extraordinary efforts were taken to address several comments after (approximately completed in 12 hours). Only after the revised draft was delivered did the client then claim that the work was too late and that he was removed from his program. Per the attached receipt, he was refunded $850 of the total of $1,472. Given that the work was completed per the timeline originally provided to us by the client, we did not refund the full amount.

      Complaint: 21913656

I am rejecting this response because:

      - Though repeated requests for a contract or refund policy had been made, all requests were ignored and nothing was provided.

      -
The refund/refund amount is completely arbitrary, and no discussion or agreement on the amount was made before it was provided.

      - The deliverables were not anywhere near the quality required, and multiple requests on the status and content of the work were mostly ignored, simply stating something akin to "our statistician is working on it." And therefore the progress of the work and it quality could not be confirmed until it was delivered.

      - Once the deliverables were checked, it was apparent that it needed re-work. Though it was clearly inadequate, as I was desperate and needed something completed quickly, and calmly asked for some corrections. While some minor additions were made, I was told "this is a collaboration" and that "they are following the literature" for their justifications of the incorrect and poor quality of the work, and it mostly remained unchanged.

      - Regarding the actual quality of the work, again I did not want to strongly press the issue as I thought it would cause more problems and I would not be able to get anything, the information and literature that was used and analyzed if from a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIELD. While I was doing research on interpersonal trust, which is trust between two
specific individuals, they had written on general trust, which is a feeling of trust to society in general, and while related in the field of "trust", IS ACADEMICALLY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. They had taken more than enough time to write something that essential couldn't be used, and I did not have the time or money to have them try and do it again. I'll
also mention that their work was of such poor quality, there were countless misspellings and grammatical mistakes, that they had not even taken the time to run a spellcheck.

      - In the end, they could not provide the work of sufficient quality within the given time, and I was no longer able to continue on with my doctoral program.

      - While I do genuinely think that their services are a scam and I am entitled to a complete refund, as they did do some work (which again, was poor quality and could not be used) I tried to be fair and reasonable, and asked for a $1000 refund.

      - They had asked for documentation and proof that a degree was not provided and I was no longer in the program for the additional $150 refund. I was able to provide the proof and documentation last month after the term ended and the administration was able to issue the document. My e-mails with the documentation provided were ignored.

      - Copies of our complete e-mail correspondence and documentation of no degree awarded have been attached and provided.

      Sincerely,

      *********************

I could not send my response with attachments, and therefore had to only send my response without attachments. These are the complete e-mail correspondence and documentation mentioned in my response.

One one the (primary) e-mail correspondences PDFs seems to be too large (23.4MB) and I cannot seem to send it.

Is there another way I can provide it?

      Customer Answer

      Date: 07/07/2024

I have converted the individual pages to JPG and each file is under 5MB. 12 pages total. (1-5)
I also forgot to mention, that they had not provided the revision in time, after multiple requests for updates, and I informed them I would no longer need their services (which was ignored), after which they provided the revisions. I then informed them again.

Precision consulting and I agreed that they would work on IRB application. They however did not check the documents I shared with them and then asked me for full payment, before any clarifying questions. The email conversation that followed proved beyond a doubt that the firm is a scam. I am getting the money back from the credit card payment.

I reached out to Precision Consulting to Edit my Dissertation Proposal Paper for my dissertation priposal defense. I defended today and passed only because of my verbal delivery. My committee will not sign off on my passing the qualifying exam until the dissertation paper is corrected. All 3 of my committee members asked me if my paper was reviewed by an editor, and I said yes. I am so embarrassed to discover that not only was the paper formatted incorrectly, all of the promised timelines were missed. I now have a new editor, who us working on the paper and i have to spend more money to correct the work that I have already paid for. My new editor asked me to get my money back from Precision Consulting and is currently working on my paper without any payment because she feels so bad for me. I have the paper that was delivered to me but it is to large to attach. Please let me know if i can send it to you in another way. I want you to see this.

      To whom it may concern,

All work was completed in a timely manner as agreed upon. A PDF of the work in question has been attached along with email correspondence. Shortly after the draft was provided, ******* claimed that it was insufficient. Despite repeated requests for clarification for feedback, she only claimed that multiple people found it sufficient. No feedback was provided nor was there any evidence provided from reviewers as to errors in the work. Due to the lack of any evidence from the client and because the work had been completed and delivered as agreed upon, no refund was provided.

The BBB allows us to reopen cases to respond, which we have done. We maintain our position in denying the refund based on the grounds that the work has been completed, we provided a willingness to continue support which was rejected by the client, yet subsequently, the client did not provide evidence to indicate any insufficiencies.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the editing services provided by Precision for my case study project, which commenced in June of 2023.Throughout our collaboration, I have observed a decline in the quality of edits, despite providing consistent feedback. It appears that the comments and suggestions provided by myself and my board are not being adequately addressed, leading to recurring issues in the document. This indicates a lack of attention to detail and thoroughness in the editing process.Of particular concern is the recent notification I provided regarding the impending conclusion of my case study clock period in four months' time. Despite expressing my apprehension about the lack of progress, I received reassurances that the current situation is within the norm. However, the feedback from an independent professional consultant I sought out contradicts this assertion. Their estimation of up to 20 hours of additional work to bring the case study to an acceptable standard underscores the inadequacy of the current editing efforts. As a result of the unsatisfactory progress and quality of work, I have requested a refund from Precision, considering the substantial investment of $2500 made for content, style, and formatting editing. Regrettably, my request has been denied, despite the provision in our contract promising refunds for time not worked. In an effort to resolve this matter amicably, I kindly requested a detailed breakdown of the hours spent on my case study, as well as a refund for the time not utilized as per the terms outlined in our agreement. However, my attempts to communicate with Precision have been met with silence, exacerbating my disappointment and frustration with the level of professionalism and responsiveness demonstrated by your company.

I reached out to Precision Consulting in September in reference to my dissertation which needed editing. ******************************* reached out to me regarding my dissertation and assured me that her background was synonymous with my topic and she would be excited to help. I was lured in by her professionalism and her education concerning the topic. She remitted a contract to me in reference to the services, advising the cost would be $3000. She said that they could do the work for $2800 roughly if I chose to work with them as they valued continued relationships with clients. I paid the money to them by September 21st and she advised the team would work with me directly on the project. They received the first draft of the dissertation that was what I was working with prior to consultation. I asked during the revisions if I could send the new draft but they advised they would not need another draft until this was completed. Please keep in mind that there was a few weeks lapse between the draft I sent and the new direction proposed by my chair. I emailed ********* after she submitted the first draft of the dissertation back to me and advised her that i had a new chair and the overall foundation of the study needed to be redirected with new theories added. I advised that I edited the work and resubmitted it to ********* (after she advised I should send it back). She responded, saying that I was on the right track and if I needed revision of the document. Confused...I advised I did and she gave recommendation for the new title. She claimed she noted minor revisions to be made so I gave the greenlight to do them. She reached back out to me approximately five days later saying that the scope of the new project was too big, and I made too many revisions for this to fall under the current contract. Therefore, I would need to remit a new payment of $600.00. These people scammed me. They literally looked at one draft and after my chair advised changes they refused to do any further.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/24/2024

******************* reached out to us for assistance with her proposal. Per the attached receipts, she paid $2,560 over a series of payments. The client then came back with additional revisions. The initial review showed some changes had been made to the document by the client, which appeared minor at the time. However, when the analysts reviewed the draft more closely, it was noted that extensive changes had actually been made, well beyond a single paragraph or two. The feedback received were for these changed sections, work we had not done and was not covered by our agreement (see contract). The client was quoted an additional $600 for us to handle the revisions for these new sections. The client responded to a negative manner and despite multiple attempts to communicate further, did not speak with a representative of this company after that.

I am rejecting this response because the company never reached put to me. They advised a sp3cific person would call. They never called..additionally ally, the contract is vague and does not advise a specific amount of revisions would render the work unacceptable. Additionally, the co.**** recieved a negative response due to the fact that no one would call or speak to me about the ambiguity of the contract..Additionally, Precision was advised that I needed tor revise the draft they were initially sent. They took the submission recieved during the consult and advised that they could not accept the revision I had due to the fact that they already began work on it. I was advised that they would review further revisions no matter how persnickety the reviewers were per the emails exchanged in this complaint. The revisions that were made were directed by my chair and reader, and precision decided that they would not continue without further payment. I paid the entire balance in one day and was told that they would work with me through the revision process. Once a complaint was made clear, communication ceased and I was never called 5o resolve the issue. Additionally, I attempted to call them to no avail, leading me to the conclusion I was scammed.

      To whom it may concern,

We did try to reach out to the client on multiple occasions to discuss the revisions, including scheduling a call with our COO (see attached screenshots). The client never answered the phone or called us back. Clause 3 of the contract clearly states the revision policy as well and the whole of the contract clearly outlines the terms and conditions of the project. Our position remains the same as before and we decline to provide a refund as we did complete the contracted work.

      Complaint: 20834659

I am rejecting this response because I never recieved a phone call and there is still no messages or proof of any communication. The one draft that was received were the only revisions made concerning my account. This was the draft submitted primarily with no other drafts reviewed by this company. I did advise that this was a rough draft and I had a new draft after I paid and was told to wait until the rough draft was reviewed. I advised that the panel wanted changes to the study and was told that these changes could be reviewed. It doesn't make sense that the draft sent to secure help for the study would be the only one reviewed when I clearly stated that I made revisions during the waiting period to hear a response on the study and whether Precision would be able to help me. I paid and promptly advised I was given revisions from the one sent during discussions prior to the contract and I maintain I was told to wait until this rough draft was revised. I have no missed calls or voicemail from this company so I am not sure who they called, after I advised I wouldn't send an additional $600.00 I was told someone would call but I never talked to anyone and this complaint wad over six months ago.

      Complaint: 20834659

I am rejecting this response because this is the most communication I have had with this business. I maintain I have never been called. The refund is not the priority issue, it was the lack of communication and support related to the deliverables they promised. I understand running a business, and in spite of the Communications here this company has failed at direct communication with me regarding this complaint issued almost 6 months ago. As far as I am concerned, the efforts of the business to clear their name through this complaint do not ameliorate the communication issue I had with them when spending my money. Had they reached out before this complaint would not have existed. Additionally, efforts on my part to explain that the draft I sent was undergoing revision and I needed the revised template looked at instead was ignored by the company as they proceeded to con me out of the support I paid for. I maintain that my satisfaction could have been achieved through communication as I recognize the limitations of email. But even after being told I would recieve a call I didn't. To add insult to injury, instead of acknowledging their mistake, blame is placed on the consumer with still no efforts towards communicating a mutually beneficial outcome.

I engaged with precision consulting to assist in formatting my dissertation and help with any inconsistencies. The price tag was $2000 for my dissertation and paid in full. Since working with them, they have done an okay job but recently has become sloppy in editing and incorporating the provided chapters - which a completed formatted dissertation is missing chapter they didnt include. Because of this, is has pushed back submission and affecting income and job opportunities. On top of that, when reading over the dissertation, I have found edits and issues that make me question their name about precision in editing. I am asking for a partial refund because this quality of work is subpar.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
