8 Billion Trees is a total scam. They offer a "free" t-shirt with no indication that they're using your info to involuntarily sign you up for a "membership." "Membership" is a $41 monthly charge for essentially nothing. They're just billing your bank account or credit card an exorbitant monthly charge for nothing except they promise "to plant trees." They justify this by saying your paying to offset your carbon imprint so you should feel good about the monthly $41 charge you didn't sign up for. They do answer the phone, I'll give them that. I suspect that's to keep them acting in a "legitimate" way. I think they've stopped charging me, but in spite of endless promises, I never had my money reimbursed, which they promised they would. If you come across 8 Billion Trees - run in the other direction. Don't fall for anything "free" from them - they are a scam.

As a person who knows to read terms and conditions, I too was charged reoccurring payments monthly. The fees were never authorized and I know to check for these things. There is NOTHING in the process of acquiring the shirt that authorizes future charges. Upon further research, 8 Billion trees is not listed as a non-profit or 501(c)3. It's fine to not be, however you need to be MORE transparent about your process. It's all well and good to raise funds to help save the planet, we need that. However, there is no reason to be sneaky about it. If the purpose of the "free' shirt were to indeed help further the cause, why would the company/organization not be advertised on the shirt?? If the company were being transparent, there would be a monthly, "Thank you" for supporting-our-cause-receipt. This does not occur. Reputable environmental organizations would sell subscriptions, with or without the shirt. Bottom line, 8BT details their mission and environmental concerns well, however, consumers seeking transparency are met with rabbit hole after rabbit hole in seeking clarity on their platform.

Do not, repeat, do NOT deal with this enviro-scam outfit. They are not a charity, they are a con, preying on people's goodwill and sense of "helping heal the planet". The biggest joke is that they get you with an offer for a "free" tshirt that says "PLANET OVER PROFIT" HA!! Then, proceed to sign you up to a recurring monthly subscription without your consent. Ick. Heal the planet starting with these shysters, please.

This is a scam. I thought I was getting a free tee shirt and only paying for shipping. It turns out that you are also signed up for a monthly subscription fee. I contacted the company, and they cancelled my subscription because they knew I had not authorized this. I keep seeing their ads on ******** even though I have reported them.

Got scammed by this company when I thought I was ordering a free shirt. I knew I would pay for shipping but had no clue they would bill me $16.99 for the next 8 months! Shame on me for not noticing the charge until today. I called and they continued to say I signed up for a membership. I replied I never signed up for one to which they asked if I’d like to cancel. How can you cancel something you’ve never joined. They only agreed to refund me 3 months of the $16.99 so I’m out $84.95. Beware of “free” offers!

I placed a request for a free shirt. I understood and accepted the shipping cost BUT got tricked by the organization's gimmick of lumping the "sign the petition" with the $19+ charge and the $19+ monthly recurring charge. Its borderline scamming. I tried to stop the transaction but did not see an approval or confirmation page. The entire transaction went through without a chance to agree to all the terms and conditions.

The shirts are being given away for free to supporters that sign up for a monthly membership to help plant trees.

The monthly billing can be canceled at any time by simply letting us know.

Additionally, this customer sent us an email on 6/2/23 letting us know they didn't want to be charged. Our customer support team replied back to the customer within 5 minutes to let them know the order was cancelled and the charges were voided meaning no charges were ever processed.

Bought a tshirt for my son, just had to pay for shipping, came out to just over $5. I thought that was it until I get charged for a monthly membership! I had no idea there even was such a thing! I never saw any mention of it, or an opt out or opt in or anything. Sneaky!!

I'd never heard of them but I saw a Facebook ad for a free t-shirt. Loved the design. Ok, so you have to pay shipping of about $5. Ok. Then they said just another $8 or something for another t-shirt. So I agree and check out. Then I get an email that says: "8 Billion Trees: Payment notification NOTE: you are currently signed up to be a monthly contributor and help plant trees every single month." Well it never says how much and they snuck it in because I was never given a chance to agree. Must be in the very small print but it's opt-out and even when I got that email, I had no idea how much I'd be charged monthly. So this is what I see on my credit card statement. 12/7/2022 PENDING - 12/06 - 8 BILLION TREES $5.10 12/7/2022 PENDING - 12/06 - 8 BILLION TREES $19.38 12/7/2022 PENDING - 12/06 - 8 BILLION TREES $17.26 That's over $40 for 2 t-shirts, one that's free! You can buy them on their website for $26 each and skip the auto charge. They did refund my money, right away but I think they count on people not noticing. I have to warn people. Very shady.
