I moved from Ore. to **. and hired A NEW START MOVING & STORAGE. I called the broker and told him about what I had to move. He gave me quote with out seeing it. I thought someone would come to check this out. The day I was moving they took a count and doubled the price, $5,279.25. It went from Ore. to ******, to **. It was supposed to be stored in a climate controled unit but I don't think it was. When they picked it up they wrapped everything in saran wrap even the legs of the furnisher and the boxes. I thought they are very careful and nothing would get broke, I was wrong. When it was delivered there was not a speck of saran wrap, when I ask the movers they just looked at me and smiled. When they delivered my belongings there was so much breakage, boxes were torn and upside down, ripped, stuff hanging out and skid marks on my mattress. I had ***** broke, ******* broke (shaddered I could not even identify them), and things my kids made, irreplaceable. I had two end tables that were either lifted from the rails or left in the sun, they are split at the seams. the doors on the china hutch are warped, I can hardly open one side, but the insurance could not see any damage. they charged for 14 shelves, they were not even real shelves, they were steel utility garage shelves with particle board for shelves. there was not 14 shelves but 9 47 x 18 all bundled up not much space taken at all. I think there were 14 boards when they left Ore but only 9 made it. There was one extra metal strip left so I am wondering where the rest of the strips and the partical boards went to. Hummm!! i had very little furnisher, mainly boxes and totes. I don't see how that can be over $5,000.00.
