Was overcharged for Sports Illustrated magazine subscription for 2024 and 2025. I have sent emails and attempted to contact this company with not response.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/17/2025

Customer was attempted to charge on March 11 but was denied. We have noticed a duplicate account which caused a system error of overcharging to the customers account. We have deleted the duplicate account and frozen the original account from any further activity. Refund was issued on March 17.

    Complaint: 23073448

I am rejecting this response because: From 02/21/2024 until 12/19/2024 I was billed $41.92 each month for February, April, June, August and then $76.16  in October, $41.92 again for November and $76.16 in December. I actually renewed my subscription in October for the $76.16 for 64 months.  So basically, I've paid for years of this magazine. I have blocked my credit card from any more charges and have cancelled my subscription.

    Sincerely,

I tried to respond to the offer but it would not send. Then I managed to send without any message in it.

I did not accept the offer because we were billed every 2 months in 2024. It appears they tried to bill again in March of 2025 but it was denied because I blocked the charges. The $41.92 credit covered 1 charge, but there are several more.

According to the reviews, this is not the only complaint like this.

I was charged on 3 separate occasions for a renewal on Sports Illustrated. I contacted ****************** and was advised that Sports Subscribers Service does not do their renewals and never have. Was advised that I should contact the Attorney General to get this resolved. I was charged $76.16 3 times over the last year. I just received the third charge today 3/11/2025. I am going to contact my bank to let them know this is a fraudulent charge on my debit card. I would like a refund for the 3 charges in the total of $228.48

We are unable to refund this customer as this customer has filed a dispute with their credit card company. The dispute was handled through the dispute resolution process and has been resolved and the customer was issued refunds from their bank.

In September 2024 I received a renewal notice from Subscriber Services of *********, ** titled "Sports Illustrated Renewal Notice" with options for number of issues and cost. Since my current subscription to ****************** was running out, I thought the notice was legit. I sent a check payable to Sports Illustrated in the amount of $142.40, which was cashed 10/8/2024. I later started receiving renewal notices from ****************** because my subscription was running out. I have attempted to reach Subscription Services via the contact phone number to no avail, as the messages just send you through a series of ads in a loop with no way to resolve anything. I reached out to ****************** who said they did not receive the payment from Subscriber Services and that my subscription was running out soon. I am requesting your help to obtain a refund of $142.40 which I paid in good faith. Please advise if additional information is needed. Thank You.

We have received multiple charges from this company for a Sports Illustrated subscription. We have tried contacting them with no response or success. We are constantly disputing charges with our credit card company. Once resolved a new charge appears. We are now in the process of canceling our card to try and stop these fraudulent multiple charges and we will report this the the Attorney General of these charges were to continue or reappear. We are hoping that the BBB can help us get these people to stop and continue to let the public know this company appears to be a scam.

In July of 2024, I received a Sports Illustrated Renewal Notice in the mail and as my subscription was expiring in August of 2024 I opted to renew. I mailed a check for $41.92 to "Sports Illustrated Subscriber Services" on July 16, 2024. Once my subscription expired, I never received another issue. In December, I received a notice from Sports Illustrated saying, "We want you back!" On January 9, 2025, I called Sports Illustrated to ask why my subscription had expired as I believed I had renewed it. I was informed that Subscriber Services is not actually affiliated with ****************** and that they were under investigation. I would like for Subscriber Services to refund my money.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/29/2025

That is incorrect. The publication was sold in last year and went through some internal changes that did change how independent agencies submit their renewal orders. We have researched the customers order and have found it was sent for renewal but the old publisher and unfortunately the old publisher did not transfer the order to the new publisher. We have now confirmed that the order has been transferred and will start very soon.

    Thank yoy,

    Subscription Service Department.

I am rejecting this response because: I am not necessarily rejecting this response, but what evidence do I have that the subscription will actually start up again?  How can I just take their word that this is true?  If I say I accept this and then do not receive my subscription as promised, what options will I have then?  It seems to me Sports Illustrated is blaming Subscriber Services and Subscriber Services is blaming Sports Illustrated and I am the one who is out $40+ with no current resolution.  If I actually receive my subscription or someone provides me with proof that I am in fact going to receive it, then I will accept.  Otherwise I would prefer a refund.

    Sincerely,

I have made multiple email and phone call attempts to cancel my sports illustrated subscription after being told by ****************** this party would have to cancel as they are the third party vendor and who the credit card charge originates from. The response I received from Sports Subscriber Services was a short, email that states Its your responsibility to cancel with the publisher not us. Good luck with the BBB. This does not solve my problem and I am back in the death circle of trying to figure out how to cancel a subscription.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/21/2025

As stated before we cannot cancel a subscription as we suggested to the customer you need to contact the publisher directly. We have sent several messages trying to issue a refund to the customer and trying ti verify an account based on the last 4 digits of the credit card used but have not received confirmation.

    Complaint: 22836748

I am rejecting this response because: I have sent multiple emails verifying the credit card that is being charged is in fact correct. I have not received a refund. I am not looking for a refund but for a stop payment for any further reoccurring charges. I have contacted my credit card company to deny future charges. I have spoken with representatives from Sports Illustrated who verified that Sports Subscriber Services is a scam designed to continually bill without ability to stop subscription.Sports Illustrated specifically states that the third company is responsible for canceling said subscription. I will cancel this credit card so no further charges can occur. I will also notify the Attorney General as suggested by Sports Illustrated.

This company is fraudulently selling magazine subscription renewals for Sports Illustrated magazine. I paid by credit card ***** for a one year subscription renewal which was posted on Aug. 27, 2024. I was later contacted by the actual magazine publisher who said that my account had NOT been credited and they had no existing relationship to Sports Subscriper Services. Then, on Nov. 8, I was charged two more times for $***** each time. I immediately canceled one, but incorrectly thought the other charge was legitimate. I want to be refunded for both the Aug. 27 and Nov. 8 charges. I have received NOTHING from them at all.

    Date: 01/15/2025

Account is under research. We have corrected and adjusted the subscription account and are in the process of issuing refunds.

The renewals dating back to 2020 were fulfilled in full and no refunds or credits are due. We would not credit or refund such old orders, especially the renewal from 2020, almost 5 years ago.

As far as the most recent renewal in 2024, that renewal is option for refund. We were authorized to fullfill orders up until late last year as the publication was sold to a new publisher. Currently, they have not renewed any subscription agreements to agents to fullfill renewal orders at this time.

I am rejecting this response because: As I will agree to the renewal I paid 12/10/20 was for 3 years and that has been fulfilled.  The next payment I sent was on 4/1/22 for 180 issues for 3 years so this order will expire 4/2025. Verified with Sports Illustrated customer service.

But I have also paid 2/25/23 ****** for 180 issues and if this was also for 3 years that would have extend my subscription till 4/2028

The new owners state they have no records of the last 2 payments I sent

All of these payments were sent to and cashed by Subscriber Services so I am requesting a refund in the amount of ****** for the last 2 payments I sent for my subscription renewals as your company no longer handles this magazine.

I have been trying for months to contact Subscriber Renewal Services to cancel my Sports Illustrated magazine. This company has auto payment with my cc and they have billed me $76.16 on June 3, Aug. 16 and Nov 8, 2024. I have tried calling, leaving a voicemail only to never receiving a return call. Sending emails only to have it returned as Undeliverable. I would like to have the auto payments stopped and cancel my subscription. I have since put a 2 dispute in with my credit card company as of today 11/19/2024
