I started working with this company in October. They have been taking $250 out of my account since then. I started working with a ***** and they switched to ******. I have sent them stuff from my personal accounts so they could help me. I have yet to talk to anyone but through email or voicemail. I am guilty of being stupid and not doing my homework. On November 30, 2022 I entered an agreement with American Tax Service to proved tax relief for my mother ********* ******** as she has dementia and is unable to act on her own. I am her power of attorney.The scope of the service contract was to relieve the tax debt my mother owed to the *** from years 2019, 2016, 2015 and 2014. This debt was ~******* at the time and has since grown Also included in the scope:- Tax preparation for ********* - Submission and preparation of tax returns - Audit Protection - Administrative Support - Minimizing adjusted gross income I paid a retainer fee of 2500 to start the investigation process and once complete they offered to settle the case for an additional $272,774.00 which was paid in 2 payments of $136,387 (one on 12/16/2022 and 1/13/2023). Since these payments have been made nothing has been done to solve my mothers case. I have called, emailed and text with this company and I continue to get the run around with no resolution. The *** has never heard from ATS regarding my mothers case and has levied her assets and taken $22,000 from her bank account. In September, 2024 I sent a certified letter to ATS located at ***************************************************************************** requesting our contract be cancelled and a full refund issued. I have not heard from them since and get put on hold and disconnected when I call to inquire about my refund. I have been working with the *** on my own to do exactly what I paid ATS to do and need the funds paid to ATS to complete my offer and compromise. They have been nothing but difficult to deal with and would like your help in retrieving my refund so i can ultimately settle my mothers tax issues. Tell us Taxpayers son and Mom called up 26 months ago. They were told at that time that to resolve their case, they would be asked for multiple documents, and that they would have to provide accurate information, and that it needed to be in a timely manner.
The documents that they provided and the information that they gave us were different than the tax authorities had. (Or so the tax agents said)
Taxpayers son would never get back to us to fix all these various issues, and many more. When we told him that he must withhold taxes for all the distributions that he was taking from the taxpayers account, he went dark.
We have spent 2 years trying to complete a case that could have been resolved a year ago if the taxpayers son wasn't so difficult to work with.
And even now, after all this if he would provide all the accurate documents that the tax authorities require. We would move this case along.
And that is where we stand with all this. We stand ready to fulfill our obligation. If the client wants to complete the file, the way he contracted.

I am rejecting this response because: It is false in many ways.I am here because after many efforts to work with this company, I am unable to get them to provide the service in which we agreed upon in our Service Contract and respectfully requested a refund. I sent ATS all the information that was requested, many different times and to multiple different employees. When you call ATS you are placed on hold and eventually disconnected. If you are connected with a representative it is a different person every time that has very little or no knowledge of your issue. I received the run around for the last two years and ATS did nothing to resolve the case. They did not even file the current taxes necessary to even start the resolution process. They never made contact with the *** agent that is handling the case which allowed the *** to continue to charge interest on the outstanding balance putting my mom in a worse position then when we started. I have since taken the same information and documents, I sent to ATS, to a local tax service and am very close to resolving this case. I sent ATS a certified letter notifying them that I am cancelling our agreement (per the Service Agreement) and requested a full refund. I have received no response. This is "why" I filed a complaint.
I do not wish to continue working with ATS and request a full refund.

Original transaction - around April 2nd - I have correspondence dating from April 3rd. They claim to be a tax management service. They would take over all interactions with the **** file a hold on my account. They claimed I had a medical cause for the arrears in my account and based on this they could waive all interest, penalties and the original amount I owed to the **** They claimed they had already filed all the necessary paperwork with the ***, there was a hold on my account and it would not continue to accrue penalties or interests. They claimed they had scheduled a hearing with the *** which should resolve all matters. I have checked with the ***. It has been months. There is no record of any paperwork filed. There are no hearings scheduled. Penalties and interested continued to accrue continuously within the period from April 2nd to now. The only thing that has occurred is they have filed a Power of Attourney with the *** and possibly with the ******************** They have filed it 65 different times with 65 different names. They have charged me $60,000 to do all this. I conclude this is a pure scam. I would like my money back. I do have exact figures with transaction dates.Business Response

I received a letter (Saturday, 12/14/24) from this business impersonating the *** and demanding that I call. I called the number as soon as possible (Monday, 12/16/24) thinking it was the Internal Revenue Service. They misrepresented themselves and convinced me to pay them to resolve a tax issue. After hanging up, I realized that I had been scammed. I immediately contacted my credit card company, had the charges reversed, and cancelled my card. Today, (12/17/24) this business will not stop harassing me. They have been calling me and texting me all day, trying to use scare tactics against me further. I have spoken to the *** directly (today) and notes have been made on my account that this business has no authority to represent me. Good Evening,
Attached you'll find the letter I received from American Tax Service, where they falsely represented themselves as the *** and created a letter that looked as though it came from a government office. I 100% thought that I was dialing the *** when I read that I must call by 12/6/24 to avoid further action. And to be clear, I am currently working with the *** to get this issue resolved. I have been in contact with the agency as many as 10 times this year and was waiting for correspondence from them which they had told me would arrive sometime in December.
In addition, I've attached the letter that I sent by mail to the *** today (overnighted) to revoke the bogus forms that I was coerced into signing.
And finally, in my initial complaint I chose that I want ATS to leave me alone as the resolution to this (since they will not stop calling and texting me with threats), but I would like to make an amendment to that. There is now a fraudulent charge on my credit card for $3,500. I want this charge reversed immediately. ATS is not representing me in any way, and I have received absolutely no service or products from them. After my call with American Tax Service, when I realized that I had been scammed, I immediately called my credit card company (***********) to have the charge revoked (within 1 hour of the charge), but it has since posted to my account.
I have every intention of pursuing resolution to this and I will contact the ******************************** if necessary.

A third party marketing company that buys lien lists is the one that sends out hose notices for lots of different companies. But we apologize for the confusion.

In May of 2024, American Tax Service gave me a quote of 4800 to resolve past tax debt. I agreed to move forward and signed the agreement. A week or so later they called me back to say to resolve my tax debt it was now going to cost ******! I was stunned, I felt they were extorting me, and no longer trusted this company. I told them I wanted to cancel the agreement effective immediately. I called, left several messages, sent numerous emails, spoke to various representatives that said someone from the cancellation department would call me back. This went on for months as they continued to charge me monthly ****** with a total sum of 4800. This has hurt us financially and emotionally because its ongoing with no resolve as of today. When I send them emails, they bounce back saying unable to deliver! When I call it goes to a machine. American Tax Service aka ATS company is not reputable and should be held accountable for not being transparent, not responding to requests to cancel and taking advantage of their customers, I spoke with a ***** ****** Telephone No: ************* several times but it never went anywhere. I do not recommend American Tax Service, they are dishonest and unresponsive to repeated calls to cancel the agreement. I am sick to my stomach they did this to our family. I am so sorry that this has been your experience thus far. When I investigated your account,it appears that you told your bank that you never authorized any charges with us, and did not know who we were. So that when our accounting department sent them digitally signed contracts that proved the relationship. Your charges were reversed and awarded back to us.
While that was occurring, your account was frozen. We have only been notified within the last 2 weeks that indeed, your bank ruled in our favor. We are very sorry that your banks process took so long.

I am rejecting this response because:Since writing this complaint to BBB, I called ATS and left voice messages, was told someone was going to call me back, haven't heard from anyone- this is the same response thats been going on for months, with no calls back or resolution.
I went into this agreement on May 1, 2024. I subsequently had correspondence with ATS **** ****** ****** on June 25th 2024 requesting to cancel this agreement (I can send a copy of this correspondence) She sent me copies of the Services Agreement that I signed, I told her I already had that information, but since the 4800 had ballooned to 40k per conversations with other ATS *** or affiliates, I was not agreeing to this insane increase and wanted to cancel the agreement altogether. And then nothing
Since then, I've sent numerous emails to ********************************************************************************** starting back in June, that went on into July, August, Sept Oct, Nov 2023I
and this is the message I get back:

To further clarify the cancellation process as per the scope of services agreement I signed, see the below paragraph cut and pasted from the scope of work agreement -
SERVICE FEES
5.1 Client agrees to pay ******* for services rendered by ATS
and/or any of its affiliates, agents, strategic partners, or associates
through merchant accounts utilized by ********************** for ***resentation and
services provided by ATS. The fee applies to those services indicated
in Section 2 of this Agreement.
5.2 By signing this Agreement, Client agrees to pay ATS the fee, as

I forgot to mention, the reason why I got my bank involved to dispute the charge was because ATS is unresponsive to my repeated requests to cancel the agreement from the beginning ATX kept charging me monthly installments for a service I did not want. Ultimately, I disputed the charge hoping my bank would get ATS to comply with my cancelation requests, but I my bank is not fully aware how hard I have been trying to cancel the agreement with ATS. I am speaking with my bank since their decision to make sure they have all the info.
I believe ATS has made the cancellation process impossible on purpose, to deceive and take advantage of their customers. They were not transparent, they used a bait and switch tactic, that was very dishonest and untrustworthy. No tax prep work was initiated, I want money back.

I singed a contract on 5/23/24, and paid $7,200 for services that included obtaining forgiveness for my 2021 *** tax debt, and preparation of future tax returns. Over the course of the past five months, I have sent 5-6 emails requesting updates on the status of my tax debt forgiveness, and I have not received any direct answers. On 20/21/24, I logged into the *** website and saw that my bank account and assets are at risk of being levied due to unresolved tax debt. This makes it clear that ATS has taken no action to resolve my tax debt. I've seen multiple online reviews confirming that other clients have had similar issues, which suggests a pattern of fraudulent practices. 2023 Tax Preparation: I submitted documentation to ATS in 07/2023. ATS misplaced some of them, thus I resubmitted them in August. After numerous follow-ups, I finally received my completed 1040 on 10/8/24. ATS requested my IP PIN for filing, which I provided the same day. After sending 5 follow-up emails and making 3 phone calls to request confirmation of filing, I received no response for 14 days. Upon checking the *** website, I discovered that my taxes hadn't been filed. After threatening to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau & other regulatory agencies, ATS finally responded on 10/21/24 stating that they needed an updated IP PIN. I promptly provided the updated PIN, and my taxes were filed on the same dayseven days past the filing deadline.Requested Resolution: As a result of ATSs negligence and failure to deliver the services for which I paid, I am seeking the following resolution:-Compensation for any penalties and interest that I will incur due to the late filing of my taxes.- A formal notice to the *** indicating that ATS is responsible for the delayed filing.- Immediate action to bring my *** account into good standing.- Documented proof that my 2023 tax return has been successfully filed with the ***.- A copy of the tax documents that were filed wit the ***.Business Response

Hello, I hate that this has been your experience. We had your tax return ready by Oct 8th, but when we submitted it we didn't have the correct pin number from the taxpayer. When we finally did get the correct number from the taxpayer it was October 22nd. Since you were owed a refund for that year, you wouldn't owe any interest or penalties for that year.
The statement that your bank account and assets are at risk and being levied due to unresolved tax debt, is a true statement if you owe for old arrears tax debt. Which right now you do. Until you are compliant, no resolution is likely to occur. Once this year is filed upo, you'll be compliant, once they actually have posted the return(s).
And I will send to your email address the tax return ACK. Which shows that the *** admits that it was filed. Plus the other filed docs.Customer Answer

We appreciate the BBB's dogged efforts on our clients behalf. I reached out to the Taxpayer and spoke with them again. They said that they were satisfied with where they were at this time. They said they didn't reach out to you this time. They were just answering your request for follow-up information about the case after the original issue was closed.
The Taxpayers specific issue this time was a perceived email that wasn't replied to. I have explained that we have not received an email from them since the time of original cure of their initial filing with the BBB. They said that that could've happened may be sent to wrong person. This is the second instance where this company has provided incorrect or misleading information regarding my case.
False Statement Regarding PIN ************************** claims my return was ready by October 8th but states I didnt provide the correct PIN until October 22nd. This is untrue. I provided the updated PIN the same day I was informed it was outdated. Additionally, I sent at least three emails before the filing deadline to confirm whether my return had been filed. I have the email records to substantiate this.
Below is the inaccurate message from the company:
"Hello, I hate that this has been your experience. We had your tax return ready by Oct 8th, but when we submitted it, we didn't have the correct pin number from the taxpayer. When we finally did get the correct number from the taxpayer it was October 22nd. Since you were owed a refund for that year, you wouldn't owe any interest or penalties for that year."
False ****************************************** has also misrepresented my email communications. Despite sending multiple emails, they were ignored. When I was told I had sent them to the wrong address (which was incorrect), I forwarded the original emails from my sent folder to the same address. Furthermore, during a phone call with a representative, I was told my email hadnt been fully reviewed. Only after reading it during the call did the representative realize that a task needed to be completed.Recurring Issues:

ATS has contacted me twice by phone on 12/2 and 12/4, and twice by email. In the first email a phone call was requested. I responded that I prefer to communicate by email, so there is a written record of communication. I received a response by email indicating that a phone call was necessary to address my needs. I responded again today and scheduled a phone call for 12/9. I am not available today at 12/6 because I have back to back patients scheduled today.

I signed up with the American Tax Service on October 11, 2023. I was told I would hear from a case manager but I never did. I contacted the company and was told my Case manager was ****. I submitted all the information **** requested and began making payments of 340 a month. I paid the balance but never heard from the company. When I signed up, I was guaranteed no tax levies or garnishments, which is why I went with this company. I kept contacting the company for updates, with no response. I reached out again and was told documents were sent to me; I never received the documents, so I reached out again and was told I would be esigning. I never got the email. I then reached out in February and was told I couldn't E-design, they needed a wet signature, and **** was no longer with the company. I had a new case manager who had yet to contact me, too. I called to make a complaint that went nowhere. In April 2024, I was garnished by the state ***** a month. I called in and was assigned another person to work on my case (*********************). He was unprofessional; he said he would fix everything and did nothing for me. I continued to get garnished after being told everything would be filed and corrected. The *** told me, the company never filled anything, and I now owe more penalties and fees. They took my money and did nothing for me. ***** won't respond to my emails or calls, and when I call in about a refund, they say they will have someone call me back, which was a month ago still no refund or call back. Also the statement the funny thing is they still filled all of the returns in not accurate, not one return has been filled by the company and the *** stated the company has not done one thing to my account. I hired American tax service to help me with my taxes.They seemed responsive and friendly at first .You receive different pricing from everyone you talk to.Once you get set up , its radio silence .They screwed up my situation worse than before . Wrong ss security number listed for my business and got someone elses personal information , filed me under corporation when Im an LLC, didnt register my business name correctly so the *** thought I had 2 sales tax accounts (which took me months to figure out why I was all of a sudden getting demanding letters for non payment on sales tax for an account I had not idea was opened under the wrong name but attached to my businesses EIN) Every time I called I got the run around or someone promising to help that mysterious disappears and the number changes once you get ahold of them again its constant run arounds.Been waiting on a refund 5 months .I call every week and its always the same story. I am rejecting this response because:I did speak with a gentleman from American tax service yesterday. He told me funds were released June 8. However , nothing came through my bank account because I told them months ago the debit card was closed for that account, in which case they said theyd send a check by mail.
once he reviewed it he said it actually just looked like the request to refund was accepted but couldnt see it actually went through .hes supposed to return my call and I said Im not happy until its actually resolved . So Tuesday hes supposed to call back so we will see .

I signed on with this company on 8/30/2023 to resolve tax debt. In January I was told I needed to pay more for the attorneys. $650, and everything would be filed immediately. I paid that and waited 2 months with now word. When I finally got ahold of the case manager, I had to resubmit paperwork for the third time because they supposedly expired again. That was in March. Heard nothing until another case manager took the case manager took over and I had to basically start over. As of this morning, 6/11/2024. Nothing had been filed with the *** and the *** has no idea what I was talking about. I emailed the case manager and told her I want a refund and I am not satisfied at all with their company. She called a few minutes later and said she was working hard on my case and my only recourse is they can get my monthly *** payment lowered. The promise when I signed on was to get the debt settled. Their action will make more interest and greater debt. I will be paying this debt well into my grave.I told her this was unexpectable and I want a refund. She said she was going to talk to the attorney and let them know.I am looking for a refund because as far I can see there has been nothing done and they ignored emails asking for update for months.Business Response

There is a process, that takes time. ** times we are waiting for information from the tax authorities, or from the tax payer themself, or for anyone of a multitude of things. I spoke with *************************** Tax Analysis of American Tax Service for about an hour on the phone. Then they TOOK $6500 from ************************** account and provided NO SERVICE AT ALL - and no accounting. On 4-15-24 ***************** said he was preparing an accounting and a refund and I have not heard from him since. Tell us why here...I am so sorry that no one from our company explained that the Adobe contract that was emailed out to your confirmed email address, that you then signed, was indeed a receipt and a copy of the contract that you signed. Additionally, once you sign that document, it emails a copy to the company, offers you a download, then just for good measure, emails you a copy of it.
As far as us not getting back to you in a timely manner. Your email literally said that your lawyer had reached out to us "the day before", and we had not answered back yet.
