  I have been with Business Tax Solutions for 6 years. I have never had any problems although, at times, they seem busier than normal - great, glad to hear they have a lot of business. This year has been a horror. I submitted all my tax information in June of 2024. I asked that they confirm receipt of the information which they did. I had not heard from them all summer. In late August/early September my LLC returns were due. I asked for the status, 2 days later I received the returns. I had to send the signature pages 2 times before they were filed. I asked about the personal returns due on the 15th of October. They asked that I submit paperwork that I had already submitted. Ok no big deal. It happens. Finally last Thursday they asked for a teleconference. They called me and said good news the returns were done. You will end up owing $2000 but the NYS returns have a refund of $900. I was ok with that. During the phone conversation the rep was getting more and more agitated when I attempted to ask what took so long. I even said to him I sense that you have an attitude. He was focused on losing documents that I had sent 2x, I was focused on why did it take so long. To be honest I didn't expect him to be so unprofessional in his responses. I have dealt with this firm for a long time. Yesterday, the 14th I asked for the returns again. They were sent over showing I owe $6000 and am getting $500 back from NYS. What???? I immediately email asking if someone could call me. Nothing. I emailed again this morning, so far nothing. My returns are due today. I feel that my back is against the wall and not a comfortable feeling. I feel bad as I would never have thought I would want to go anywhere else.

  I wrote a bad review for Business Tax Solutions (BTS) on 6/18/24 believing they don’t plan to finish my tax return (I already paid). My belief was based on the fact that my tax return was not done 2 months after the tax due date, and the CPA did not respond to my email the 2nd time I requested for the status update. The CPA responded to my 1st email and said they are behind in completing the tax returns for their clients because of the new software that they are using, but he never responded to my 2nd email. I got a phone call from one of the partners of BTS a few days after I wrote the bad review. He explained to me that the CPA who got assigned to do my tax return left BTS and that’s why he never responded to my 2nd email. That sounds like a good explanation but he admitted that it is not a good excuse since someone else (e.g., the CPA’s supervisor) should have responded to the email instead. He said he will work hard to try to make sure to fix this internal problem. BTS got my (complicated) 2023 tax return done one day after the BTS partner called me. I no longer feel they cheated me and believe the new software that they started using and under-staffed (that’s what he told me) could very well be the reasons that they are so behind in completing the tax returns for their clients. BTS did an excellent job for me for 5 consecutive years (2018 thru 2022 tax returns) and I would give them the benefit of the doubt and will most likely have them do my tax return again next year. I would not want BTS to lose business because of the bad review that I wrote on 6/18/24. I believe BTS is still a good company but they just have to fix a few internal bugs going forward. I would like to remove the bad review but decided not to do it because I have to pay to talk to a lawyer to remove it. Therefore, I chose to write this detailed follow-up review instead, to make sure the readers fully understand the situation and give BTS a chance to earn your business.

  Our experience with them was one disappointment after another. Their customer facing teams have NO knowledge of tax prep, they flat out didn’t even try to prepare our taxes, despite repeatedly assuring us that they were underway, and they didn’t even open some of our documents until the week before the filing deadline. We know this because one of the files was corrupt and they reached out to us a week before the deadline asking us to resend. They had supposedly reviewed and okayed the documents more than one month prior. We even have a partner on a recorded line assuring us that he was personally going to ensure that the taxes were set to file in time. He never got back to us. Finally, they didn’t even prepare the extensions correctly - we didn’t think it was possible to mess these up. You are better off doing your taxes with ******** or literally anyone else.

  This client has already been refunded 100% (refund submitted 4/16/2024 which is 10 days prior to this complaint being submitted (full refund for her 2023 tax services) Please remove this complaint as they are not our client and the situation has been completely resolved.

  I assume there is a reason that this company is not BBB rated...because our experience with them was HORRIBLE! I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt as we applied for business and personal tax preparation fairly late in the season. However, just simple communication was pathetic. We submitted requested documentation only to be asked for the same documentation again weeks later even after they filed for an extension. I am willing to give them a second opportunity by submitting our paperwork much earlier in the tax season. We shall see...
