My apartment ceiling has been leaking for over a year. The property manager has done nothing to help. I have proof of the maintenance requests and still the issue persists. Under Chapter 118A - Landlord And Tenant: Dwellings the landlord has 14 days to make a reasonable adequate repairs. The landlords at the Lodge at McCarran Ranch have failed to do so.

When I moved in, I noted several instances of water intrusion. These were brushed off and nothing was done about it. The apartment was also filthy when I moved in; the carpet was so dirty in places that it appeared to be gray even though it is actually brown. Last week, in one of the exact locations where I noted water intrusion, water started dripping from the ceiling. I called emergency maintenance 7 times and no one responded or showed up. I lost out on sleep and caused stress to my body because I was waiting for someone to respond and didn't want to miss them. This is relevant because I have chronic illness related to past mold exposure. This occurred before Reno got that massive rainstorm. I requested to be let out of my lease or to have access to a different apartment. I was given a statement that I could be released from my lease, but I realized that I will incur moving expenses and I should not be penalized for someone else's negligence. They also said that I could transfer into another apartment, but potentially with a fee and at a higher rent price. The person who has to approve the rate remaining the same is dragging their feet regarding an answer, while I am stuck here remaining exposed to mold that is negatively affecting my health. This is an ADA-access apartment also and I am disappointed that this is the quality that this business provides for people with disabilities. I am also immunocompromised so I have to protect myself from potential COVID exposure, and every time someone comes in here I have to wear my N95 and ventilate the apartment for hours afterwards. This is very disruptive and keeps me from eating and sleeping as much as my weak body needs. This building was also so poorly built/maintained that it flooded when the recent storm came. I need my moving expenses paid in addition to being released from my lease, or I need a transfer to another apartment at the same rate.
