We purchased a car for our daughter from Bob Hackel on 7/27/2022. This dealer failed to disclose the car had been in a major rear end collision. Our mechanic had noticed something not quite right when the car was on the lift he suggested we take the car to a collision expert. The collision expert removed the back bumper to examine the car and informed us that the car had been in a major rear end collision and has severe damage. The car was not fixed properly and was cobbed back together in an unsafe way. The car is dangerous to be driven if the frame is not fixed properly. Another rear end collision with this car could have a deadly outcome for the driver and passengers. When this dealer was contacted he claimed to have no knowledge of the problem and told us frame and body were not covered under warranty. We bought this car from a registered dealer under the impression it was a safe car for our daughter to drive. I am seeking to have the safety of this car restored. There has been misrepresentation, fraud, or negligence on the part of this dealer.

    Business response

    Business relayed to BBB:

The car is a nice clean 2 door 2008 white Bug.  The trunk was perfect.  It had 69,000 miles on it.  I send all my cars out for inspections.  They are saying the that the car was wrecked under the rear bumper.  I do not take bumpers off.  If we would have seen something we would have told them.  I told them to bring it back and I have a body guy who would look at it.  They agreed.  I haven't heard anything in 2 weeks.  Then I get the complaint.  Absolutely willing to help.  I just don't understand what happened and why they did not bring it to me.
