• Advertising Review:

  BBB sent correspondence to LT United Roofing, Inc on January 8, January 14, and January 29, 2025 requesting substantiation for, or modification of, advertised claims on the website https://ltgeneralconstruction.com/, https://constructioncompanybrockport.com/, and the Yelp page https://www.yelp.com/biz/lt-general-contracting-brockport. To date, the business has not responded to our request.
  
  BBB requested substantiation of modification of the following advertised information and claims: 
  1. The NYS registered entity name of the business is LT United Roofing Inc. In many instances in the advertising, other names are used and are not registered entities in New York. The names in questions are LT General Construction LLC, LT General Contracting LLC, LT General Construction, and LT General Contracting. BBB is requested that the LLC’s be removed from all advertising and marketing materials as these are not registered entities in New York State. If the names LT General Contracting and LT General Construction are registered DBA’s in the counties that the business works in, BBB requested copies of provide the registered sole DBA's. BBB requested that all advertising be revised to reflect the NYS legal business name of LT United Roofing Inc.
  2. “100% Satisfaction” BBB requested that the terms on conditions of the 100% Satisfaction guarantee be disclosed in a clear and conspicuous manner in close proximity to the guarantee.
  3. “LICENSED” BBB was unable to verify licensing in Brockport, New York for the business. There does not appear to be any licensing requirements. BBB requested removal of all claims of “Licensed” in the advertising and marketing materials for LT United Roofing Inc. in Brockport, NY.
  4. “under budget” The advertising states that that LT United Roofing Inc projects are consistently under budget. The business would have to be able to prove this claim by providing proof that the majority of the projects are completed under budget. BBB requested copies of project estimates along with a final bill showing the costs being less than proposed to be provided.
  5. “we have a reliable reputation in the community” BBB requested substantiation for this claim. LT United Roofing Inc was a registered legal corporation in business in New York in November of 2024 according to the NYS Department of State Division of Corporations filing.
  6. BBB requested that the business update their name with GAF to LT United Roofing Inc. It is currently listed as LT General Construction LLC which is not a legal registered entity in New York State.
  7. BBB requested that a privacy policy be added to the websites since the business is collecting consumer information.
  
  According to BBB’s Code of Advertising #1.   Basic Principles of the Code
  Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request.  All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.
  
  According to BBB’s Code of Advertising #20.  Warranties or Guarantees
  When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale which could include putting it on the seller’s website. Advertisers should disclose any material limitations on a "satisfaction guarantee" or "money back guarantee" and define, for consumers, the meaning of claims such as "lifetime guarantee."
