On Monday morning, February 5, ****, I placed my credit cards on the desk in my office. No one else came to my apartment until Stanley Ruth's men came for routine maintenance later that morning. Once they were gone, I noticed my credit cards were missing. After looking everywhere for several days, I reported the cards lost to the company. They said their employees never steal. I reported "lost" cards to all of my credit companies. They cancelled the existing cards and issued new ones. That was a good thing because on Sunday, the 11th, I received a text message ostensibly from **** of America that a charge for over $800 had been locked and it provided an 800 number to call to unlock it. I called **** of America and they explained that the number used in the text was not one of theirs and that this was a clear case of theft. They told me not to call the phony 800 number. Then, on Monday, February 12, I received two messages similar to the **** of America scam. This time it was for my **************** card (which I have had since ****) and, once again, the need to call a phony "800" number. It is quite apparent that your men stole the credit cards and likely sold them to a third party. If I had called the two 800 numbers given in the messages, they would have given me the information on the card and requested that I verify my identity by providing my social security number and other information. I was a victim of this once before (about 8 years ago), so I understand the process. Both **** of America and **************** locked the attempted transactions and confirmed that this was attempted theft using phony 800 numbers. Fortunately, **** of America and **************** did the right thing. I cannot say the same for your employees who stole the credit cards.
