M & T reported me to the credit bureau for a late payment but never sent me a bill. I would like them to remove this from my credit report, and my wife's credit report. I would also like a refund of the late charge assessments. December 2020 - March 2021 we refinanced my house through M & T Bank. We were told payments wouldn't be due for a couple months. We never received a bill from M & T Bank. - M & T had the wrong address on file, and I never received a paper bill - M & T never e-mailed me a bill - M & T charged my account a late fee on 17 May and 16 June. These two fees total $78.74 - In June M & T reported us to the credit bureau - M & T called me for the first time on 6 July 2021. I paid my bill in full at this time. - In July 2021 we filed a dispute to the the late payment which was denied. - On 26 July 2021 we sent a letter to M&T bank requesting they remove the late payment from our credit history. M&T did not respond to this request.

M&T Bank manipulates posts to gouge accounts with overdraft fees. On 8/10/2021 my account was overdrawn by $62. They listed the posts on my accounts for the 9th, but it was the 10th when I got the text message at about 3am. I immediately transferred money to my account to cover it AND I had a refund from paypal, but they listed credits on 10th and the deductions as on the 9th. Overdraft $38 image 1 will show that I received a message at 4am that my account was over drawn. I immediately checked my account, saw the refund from paypal, but still moved $100 to my checking account. Doesn't matter today at 11:00 pm, I saw my account was below $100 and tried to move money to my checking account but could not because I missed the 10pm to 8am window. Some time afterwards, they charged my account with the overdraft fee and now its overdrawn again by 89 cents. At about 3am I transferred $450 to my checking acct, but too late. Overdraft $38 by 89 cents! If this isn't stealing, what is?!?

I completed a mortgage modification with M&t bank and the servicing company (sep complaint) started 09/2019 and completed 01/2020. they determined and advised that because I was currently married the modification papers had to be signed by me & my husband (even tho he was not on the current deed or mortgage and the home was purchased prior to marriage) i questioned the signature req and they agreed he could sign and a note would made that he was not to take on any financial responsibility and advised he would not be added tothey added him to the deed during the closing process and now I am in the mid of a divorce and having to fight for the rights to my home. i called m&t bank and Lakeview only to be advised I need specific dates for the calls to be pulled to make sure I asked for him not to be added to deed. they can't pull by acct# or anything else. I need this to be rectified and something to state he should not have been added to the deed and confirm my request in the calls

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I have received the letter sent to me from M and T bank, this does address part of my complaint, but it does not address the fact that prior to this loan modification, Mr. ****** (my estranged husband) was not on the deed to the home located at **** ******** ****** *** ********** ** ****** and after the process was complete.... due to an error on the bank/or legal departments end he was incorrectly added to the deed. Again, this error is the primary focus of a law suit, that does not involve the bank nor servicing company,  but the only way this law suit is in place is due to him being added to the deed, even after it was specifically requested, and stated he was NOT to be added.  Yes it was noted under his name he was not to assume and financial liability, but the liability would have eliminated him from being responsible for the debt..... him being added to the deed has resulted in a legal dispute for his claims to the proceeds associated with the sale of the house. long story short he should have NEVER been added to the deed as requested by me, the sole owner, the original purchaser of the home, the only person listed on both insurance and mortgage documents. Something in writing from M and T or the servicing department would be the leas they should provide.... this error is costing me thousands of dollars in legal fees and holding up a divorce hearing. I held up my end of the agreement and either M and T or the servicing team or someone should at least make this right some sort of way.  Regards,  ****** ******

I absolutely DO NOT recommend anyone bank with M&T. M&T has the highest fees of any bank and are unwilling to address unfair fee collections. During COVID I went through a financial difficulty. My account overdrafted, and despite asking them to lock the account they let my account overdraft at least 10 times, charging a 38.50 fee for each instance. They refused to refund. This put me further in a financial hole. When I finally got paid, so much of my money went to paying their fees that I overdrafted again and was again charged several fees for personal bills going through. They process withdrawals in an order to maximize fee collection. Good luck getting through on the 1-800 number…most times I’ve called the automated system tells me they won’t take my call due to call volume. I’ve been locked out of my account with no way to access it. Today, I went to make a purchase and find out my debit card has been randomly closed. No explanation given, and I didn’t request this. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

M&T bank was our mortgage lender. They did not pay our tax bill, despite holding our funds in escrow. They continued to blame our town tax department, but then would realize over the phone the problem was resolved. We called every month we received a late tax notice for 5 months. Finally, we decided to refinance and move on. We took our escrow balance and paid the tax bill ourselves, per recommendation from an M&T bank representative. This included $269 in penalty and interest that wasn't our fault. We were told we would be reimbursed upon paying. Our tax department confirmed we paid AND I sent a photo of the check. We have continued to call looking for our reimbursement and have re-sent these documents 3 different times. Then, we are told they don't have it, even when a representative on the phone told us they received it. At this point, it feels fraudulent because we are sending our personal information to different people over and over and getting no result.

We have been trying to get a letter stating we paid off our loan with them and have them pay back the extra money we paid. They have been directing us from one department to another not able to answer any of our questions or help us. I spend at least an hour or more on the phone when a call which has been every day this week and I just get sent from one person/department to another. No one seems to have any answers or know what they are doing. When I ask to speak to a supervisor I am sent to another department. This goes on forever until after an hour or so on the phone I give up and hang up. This has been going on for over a month! Most of the employees are very rude and cut me off while I am speaking with them and talk over top of me. I am would not recommend M&T bank to anyone for any reason. Also, my credit keeps being affected because they don't seem to have it down as paid off. Also, it is down as a repossession rather than a voluntary surrender which they never explained to us.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. There was no offer they appear to feel they have done nothing wrong. ****I attached a letter about my response to M&T Bank (I sent them the same information in a survey they asked me to complete) and a letter showing they are not being honest in the amount they quoted me as my current balance on 6/23/2001.  Regards,  ******* ******  M&T never mentioned in their reply that they plan to send me a letter that the loan is paid off in full, they neglect to acknowledge that they sent me two different ending balances on the same day from the same person, and that they never explained the fees they planned to include in the voluntary surrender. They also did not address or apologize for their lack of customer service. I know I had to surrender my camper; however, I feel I am still due proper customer service and not be neglected.  Here is what occurred leading up to my complaint:  Due to COVID and a loss of income for my husband and I, we had to surrender our camper. I started trying to fax a letter to a Brian Hardy back in March stating we wanted to surrender the camper. But he dismissed my emails and faxes. He never responded to me at all. When I first called and talked to someone about my situation, they told me we could voluntarily surrender our camper. We tried to do the right thing and did that. We even showed up the day they picked it up with the keys for the people to get into it. We were never told at any time about the fees we would be charged for picking up the camper and for auctioning the camper. I was also not told that it would show up as a repossession rather than a voluntary surrender on my credit report. My husband and I are already suffering financially due to COVID and the bank charged us an additional $1760.20 in fees. Nice, especially considering banks I'm sure received funding to help offset fees and other things to help them during COVID and yet it couldn't be passed on to their customers!!! Anyway, I digress! Back to the issue! Then, my husband and I borrowed money from a family member to pay off the amount we owed after the auction. Just to be done with it and so my credit wouldn’t suffer any more than necessary. Before this my credit score was in the 800s because I always paid my bills and paid them on time. I couldn’t help my husband losing his small business due to COVID. We were given two different payoff balances one for $5,769.86 and another for $5,261,82 (BTW, both letters were written on the same day and received on the same day. Also, both were written by Eric Poole.) We paid the balance they showed online which was $5,771.88 on 6/24/2001. Then, our online account completely disappeared within 48 hours and we were no longer able to access any of our loan information online for our documentation. We still have not received a letter stating our account has been paid in full and closed out. I need that letter to receive the warranty money I am owed rather than having M&T receive it since our loan is now dissolved. I've spent over an hour at a time waiting on hold when I call and then being passed from the asset collection department, to LaToya, to customer service, to the liens release department, to Scott M***** in Asset Recovery, then back to the asset collection department and we start all over again!!! The employees are rude and not helpful at all. I’ve spent over a month now trying to get answers and too many hours on the phone to count. They keep taking my number and promising to have someone call me back but no one ever does. No answers from anyone and no one except finally Scott M***** on July 29th told me he would send out a letter that day stating we paid the loan off. However, no answers about the overpayment. I have yet to receive the letter. I won’t be holding my breath for it either. M&T definitely has the worst customer service I have ever seen in my 51 years of life!

Refinance through our present mortgage company. Closing cost was told it would be between 4000 an d 5,000. Came to 7502.17. They used our present escrow as part of the down payment. Then they are charging us 1605.19 for 6 months of taxes plus they made us pay 163.51 x 3 for property taxes. Our property taxes per there paper work is 373,54 plus 1588.58 totaling 1962,12 for the year, but at closing they are charging us 2095,72 which is 133.60 above our annual taxes. I don't understand why we have to have a year of property taxes and continue to collect 241.01 a month toward our escrow. Unable to get clear answers on our mortgage loan. according to them we have 3 days to decide if this is correct. Please help. Thank you ***** *******

My husband, ***** ****** and I, ******* ****** were mid process refinancing our mortgage with M&T Bank. Our Loan number is:**********. We were never contacted regarding wo should be contacted to verify our employment. On 4/26/21, one of their employees, Alison D*********, sent a company wide email to my husbands place of employment, ******* *******, Inc which has over 700 employees. Ms. D*********'s job title on the email defines her role as a "Foreclosure Specialist". So, now everyone at my husbands office thinks our family is being foreclosed on. This is not only embarrassing and humiliating but extremely detrimental to his professional career. It is also a violation of the Right to Financial Privacy act.
