I first took my car to Continental on Hertel in February of 2024 for a transmission fluid change they alerted me that a code for the transmission was popping up stating it was stuck in 3rd gear. During the first fix I was told that the vehicle was not ready multiple times told they were waiting on parts etc. My spouse went to Continental and was told it wasn’t ready I called 10 minutes later and they said it was ready. As I pulled off the check engine light came on(the problem wasn’t fixed however I did not know that then) a mechanic came out and turned it off. In May of 2024 under my own warranty, I took my car to **** for tranny issues which turned out to be the same issue and was told the tranny could not be rebuilt but needed to be replaced because of the model of my truck. Unfortunately **** couldn’t perform the work under my warranty because continental had their own warranty on my transmission(that I did not want) and it would have to be returned to them. After paying **** 208 for a diagnosis out of pocket continental towed it to their shop. Continental has had my car for going on 5 weeks now. At first they told me they would replace the “bad gear” despite me telling them that **** said it cannot be rebuilt. They proceeded anyway and after replacing the “bad part” another code came up. So they again replaced the part causing the code and another code popped up at this point I had missed prom appts & work in which they told me it would be ready the next day. Several codes later and on week 4 they told me they would have to replace the entire thing(which I told them in the very beginning of the service but was told that I was wrong and dealers don’t like/don’t know how to rebuild transmissions). So after I was told it would be replaced and ready the next day of course it was not. Im now waiting on a torque converter. If its not fixed Im contacting a relative who’s a Senator for NYS this is ridiculous and isn’t ok. I’ve lost money my doctor dismissed me.Business response

**** ******* did get his car back. He has been driving it for months. He came back with a separate electrical issue with the shifter inside the vehicle . Diagnosing the electrical issue now inside the car at the shifter area. Not at all related to the work that was originally performed.Initial Complaint

I've been waiting for over 11 months to receive my vehicle back, and all I get from Continental Transmission is that they are almost done with my vehicle for the past 11 months. The money I spent there, I could've bought me another vehicle waiting all this time. I spent a lot of money on **** to get back and forth to work everyday. I originally took my vehicle there to get my crank shaft fixed, and when they finished that job they told me that my head gaskets were blown when it was time to come pick my vehicle up to take home. I was always skeptical about that head gasket story, I know they were not blown. So they charge me to fix that also, I don't believe these people at Continental Transmission on Hertel. I really think they're price gauging and running a fraudulent scam on me to get more money out of me like they already did to me lying and overcharging me to fix my vehicle. This situation almost made me lose my job,Business response

The repairs were not started on the car until we received half down. That took the customer several months. As soon as we received half down we started the repairs. Certain parts needed to be special ordered which the customer was aware of. Also, the heads had to go to a special head shop for resurfacing. We are currently re-assembling all the new part and have an expected completing date of 1/16.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I would like to say that I'm still not in my vehicle and $6,600 is already out of my pocket waiting almost a year for Continental Transmission to finish up. I don't understand why they want to over charge me so much money and keep my vehicle all this time just to finally start working on my truck now that(BBB)is envolved almost a year later like I don't have a life and job to get back and forth too everyday. All the special parts you guys are so called waiting on for my truck to finish the job is located at the (***)dealer 15 minutes away from you guys, and you kept telling me how you guys were waiting all this time for parts to arrive to complete the job on my truck. Well that was another lie, because I still don't have my vehicle. Hopefully BBB can get this problem resolved, I really think that they playing me with fraudulent moves to get extra money out of me. I'm being professional as I could be about this situation, they need to just give my truck back to me. I could've been took them to small claims court ten months ago for price gauging and lying to me about a 30.2 hour job that's taking over a year now to finish. I brought car in on Sept 5, 2023 for a transmission problem. I had to take the vehicle in 3 times before it was repaired on October31, 2023 I was charged for work that was not necessary and I was without the use of my car for approximately 1.5 months. I had to pay extra for bus fare because I did not have my car.Business response

We already responded to this complaint. Its ******** choice if he wants to under charge. However, we take our prices off the industry standard, *** ****. *** **** provides parts and labor breakdown for all certified repair facilities, Insurnace companies and dealerships. it is how NYS requires you to price auto repair. Not sure if ******** even has a computer. Those are fake prices from the 90's. Anyone can give you a price after the work has been performed. Continental on Hertle Ave Mitsu. Eclipse needed new starter, took vehicle to Continental on Hertle Ave, Bflo NY onbeforehand a starter was purchased was told they will order theyr own. Instead used products wen put in it's place all vehicle actually needed was fuel pump. ???ne starter. After 10 day car was still there no fixed, few day later after a heated conversation he said its ready & was not. check engine light was on. It shook and while on the express it dropped speed. took it back and they acted like they did something which we knew was a lie, cost me money to get back and forth to work and my everyday life. They charges 1563/64 now another company is trying to rectafy their mess. also have paper workBusiness response

I sent my car there the first time because it has a transmission code. They supposedly rebuilt it gave it back to me a month later, and there was no change in the condition of the transmission. It didn’t work, right it was slipping and banging, so I called them up they told me to drive for a couple days and I did I brought it back and they’ve had my car for two months now and keep giving me ******** answers and when I ask when my car is going to be done, they keep telling me all we had to order another part or we have to program it and they never give me an update. They never called me to update with me once the whole time, my car has been with that shop it is the worst shop that I’ve ever experienced going to end. The ***** came back he told us he sold the car.He then changed his story we did a repair under the warranty.If he now has a problem which I doubt wed be more then happy to do any warranty repairs.I believe he sold the ***** and is simply trying to get money.Initial Complaint

On March 28 2023 I contracted Continental transmissions on Hertel Ave. to fix my ***** ******* van's transmission for the amount of $3000 to which I put $1550.00 down cash and financed the rest over the period of 90 days with a lending company to pay the the full amount total. They agreed that the car would be completely fixed, rebuilt and like new after the repairs were done. They advised me upon picking up the vehicle a couple weeks later that for the first 100 miles the car would shift awkwardly and until the transmission "adjusted". During this time I drove the vehicle and realized that the transmission was still going blank at times and was not shifting properly. 3 weeks after the initial fix was made I went back to Continental to have them look at it again, they assured me that the work they did was fine and instead quoted me $1400.00 for new transmission lines on my vehicle which I knew was not the issue as their own mechanic had told me at first that the lines were fine and it was the transmission giving us issues. I told them I needed time to come up with the money after 2 months the car continued to get worse and started not shifting at all again, I took the car back to Continental as the work was under a warranty of 1 year. They had my vehicle for about 5 weeks with no work being done to it and gave me the run around to fix it. When they told me that the car was ready for pick up We picked the car up and noticed that the same issue persisted and that no work had been done to the car in all that time. After that I decided to take my vehicle to another mechanic for a second opinion. They advised me that the Transmission was still an issue, that the work done by them was botched. It was going to cost me another $3000.00 at least to fix the job that had been done in the transmission as it was rebuilt incorrectly using the same parts that were there to begin with. It was never fixed the way they promised. Now I'd like a full refund for the $3000.00 spent.Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I did try to sell the vehicle but instead was advised by the new buyer the transmission was still and issue and in turn returned the vehicle back to me then I took it back to Continental transmission where they told me they would do the work under warranty and when I got the vehicle back it was not fixed. The trouble persisted. I gave them 2 chances to repair the vehicle already as took the car in a total of 3 times for diagnosing and the issue persisted. I do want my refund yes but only because I tried multiple times to have the issue corrected by continental transmission and it in fact was not. Regards, ***** ******Business response

On July 31, 2023 my vehicle picked up by continental transmission at *** ****** **** ******** The car was supposed 2 b taken to Continental at 124 Orchard Rd W. Seneca where previously repaired. Continental Transmission on hertel: 1st calls received @ 4:39, 4:46 pm on 7/31 missed calls I was in the hospital. 10:49 am on 8/1 spoke 2 Steve because Paul who had left msg was unavailable. Was told engine was gone would be $7450 2 replace it. I said no I wasn’t doing that would pickup the vehicle. 11:56 I called back & spoke with Steve again & said when you looked @ my transmission & said it was gone, you mean 2 tell me you didn’t see a problem with the engine. It’s been approximately 45 days transmission was repaired? I was then offered a price $6000 2 fix the vehicle if I gave Continental transmission a good review on ********. I declined said I had 2 way my options & was sending tow truck to get my car. At 2:00 pm 8/1 the same day, I was told the best they could do was $5500 out the door. They’d b losing money. I was told with a good review on ******** they’d fix my car 4 that price. I thought that was strange 4 them 2 continuously offer me cheaper prices & 2 give them a good review. This is all @ Continental transmission on hertel. 8/1 2:39 pm tow truck driver goes 2 get my car when I realize it’s not @ continental transmission at 124 Orchard but @ Continental on hertel ave. I cancel my tow and resent it. 4:51 pm on 8/1 I resent tow service to pick up my car. 8/1 at 5:17 pm I spoke with the secretary. I asked what time they closed incase tow got there and they were closed. I was told 6 pm. I asked to park my car with the keys so it could be picked up if they were closed. She said ok. At 5:18 pm Steve calls again let us fix your car for $5500. I again reiterate no that I’m having my vehicle towed. 6 pm shop closes tow driver can’t get my vehicle no key and parked between 2 cars. I was told the next day I was misunderstood by Steve he thought we’d discuss repairing it.Business response

I took my vehicle to this place of business for a warranty fix that occurred and they have had my vehicle for over two months now and keep giving me excuses every day on why my vehicle isn’t done I have lost my job due to not having any transportation for the last two months and they don’t provide loaner cars.Business response

BBB spoke to Paul at the business and the following was relayed: We are waiting on parts. Parts are on back order nationwide. Also, this customer has a ********** and ********** parts are notoriously on a long back order. As soon as the parts are delivered to us, we will make the repair. We have been keeping in contact with her as well. I will reach out to her again today. We take care of our customers, we are just stuck waiting for the parts right now. As far as a loaner, unfortunately, this customer does not have a warranty or contract that would provide a loaner.
