I was putting an addition on the side of my house. I liked the owner Danny. He had great reviews so I hired him. The first thing I realized he had done wrong was not only order the wrong truss but put it on with out my knowledge. I could not understand why the skylights had to be moved. The sky lights did not fit as planned. I repeatedly asked for an explaination and then he finally told me about the truss. I then paid for a fourth skylight. At that time I requested larger skylights. But the original size skylight did not fit in the original location either. Later I found out that the two skylights were framed out shorter than the other two same size skylights. He put the floors in too low. This was not on the plan. If I didn't raise it, there would be a step down or a ramp into the addition. He refused to fix it. So, it cost me over 6 grand to raise the floor and retile with another GC. He told me he did it on purpose cause I put in a hidden door. Google, hidden door in a room and see if there are any pics of different level floors with these doors. The window where the door was going was not taken out before the concrete was poured for the floor. No attempt that I saw was made to see the floor height of the connecting floor. No hole in the wall. I took pics through out. After he wanted to charge me 2 grand for stationary closet shelves I had ended the relationship with out having him put in the door. His superintendent and field coordinator had no construction experience at all and no training. I know this cause one of them told me. The owner only came out if there were issues. I really can’t believe I didn’t realize the floor height was wrong before I paid him. I fought with him before looking to hire someone to fix and finish. I had to find and then wait for a new GC which took time. I should have written this earlier since it's been about a year since I paid him. I found his work to be sloppy and I was left with having to hire someone else.
