Received a collections notice in Sep 22 from *******, no communication had been received prior. I immediately called and paid the bill and was told MetCredit would be notified to withdraw the collection. I found out today my account is still in Collections with MetCredit (5 months later). When I called *******, they confirmed payment and said it was on me to call MetCredit to dispute and gave me a bogus number. MetCredit will not answer nor return my calls.Business Response

Again, These accounts are now paid in full since it was brought to our attention. Credit reports will be updated when we send the next file. Had there been better communication and we would have been contacted sooner, this whole thing could have been avoided and updated sooner than now.Initial Complaint

I got Covid-19 test on 10/08/21 at ******* ****** **** located in Fayettville, NY, but my insurance company failed to pay the amount $185 by their mistake. ******* ****** **** transferred this case to debt collection company, MetCredit USA, and they reported this to credit bureau as my debt without giving any notice to me. Even though it was not my fault, I paid full amount on 02/02/2023 7:17PM to avoid a further negative impact on my credit history. (I will get reimbursed this amount from my insurance company) However, this record is still on my account as outstanding debt and MetCredit never answered my call or email. Please help me out this issue.Business Response

Treatment received at ******* in the amount of $185.00 was paid for by insurance with proof sent to *******. Despite, already being paid, ******* sent the amount to MetCredit. I immediately advised MetCredit that the amount had been paid by insurance. MetCredit confirmed that ******* pulled the debt back, but MetCredit still sent to credit reporting agencies. Now neither ******* nor MetCredit returns calls.Business Response

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The response is not an accurate description of the facts. The complaint was filed on 1/29/23. For some reason, they just happened to receive confirmation the next day. I spoke with ******* and they confirmed that the collection agency was notified in mid-2022 that it was paid and the debt was recalled from the collection agency. The collection agency appears to be in violation of the FDCPA. Waiting thirty days to report an update is irresponsible especially since they are at fault. Regards, ***** *****Initial Complaint

MetCredit USA, needs to remove the collection from my credit report immediately. There is no way to get in touch with a person from the company, they don’t respond to calls or emails. I have tried on numerous occasions to get in touch with someone. I don’t owe anything to ******* ****** ***** my account is paid. ******* improperly billed me twice for the same service. Once in September 2021 and second time in October 2021. I have been working to rectify this error since December 2021. ******* corrected its error and voided the invoice from October 2021 and I paid the balance from September 2021. ******* advised they removed the account from collections. MetCredit has no legal right to a debt that does not exist. This open balance of $145 needs to be removed from my credit report immediately.Business Response

We have contact **** *** ****** **** Several times regarding this balance. November 18th we were advised that this balance was applied to patients deductible and she still owes. With the most recent reply, we contact them again just to be sure that nothing else happened since the last time we checked. This was the response we received today. This patient was NOT recalled from collections a grievance was filed with clinical staff as she feels she should not have been billed, BUT she was seen for a Med Refill--- this will require a provider visit as we are not a primary care. VID ******* is a billable visit and pt owes. Pt did make a payment in November, but it was for her second visit (never turned into collections.

I have a charge on my credit report from MetCredit USA. I have repeatedly contacted them to get more information on the purpose of these charges, and to convey my health insurance information. I contacted them shortly after receiving a letter with the pertinent information for my health insurance and received no response. Now I have this charge on my credit report for an account that I don't have the necessary information on, have tried to resolve and gotten nowhere, and their phone now doesn't work for calling in to speak to someone.Business Response

I have been receiving calls from MetCredit because of a supposed debt with *** **** *** ****** ** ** for something that they supposedly treated me. First of all *** **** company doesn’t treat you, they say they do and charge you for procedures that insurance does not cover. They then send your bill to this Credit company to ruin your spotless credit. I have paid the bill at the office, sent it to insurance and now paid the bill via the credit company to avoid anyone touching my credit reports. I am still getting calls and now my credit report shows MetCredit, so they ruined me anyway. I don’t want payment back I just want it off my report asap.Business Response

My daughter and I went to **** *** for covid testing. We have different insurances as she is on her dads plan. I received a bill from urgent care merging both my daughter and my information so I called and left a message as I have never received a shared medical bill with two different patients on one bill! I never heard back. I figured they were rectifying the situation with the insurance which can take 60 days. Instead; a month later I receive notification from Met Credit with the corrected bill of $60. They started calling my phone multiple times a day and I thought they were a spammer. They called me a couple weeks ago i answered and I paid half. I set the expectation to pay the other $30 this month (May.) The representative said she would make a note. Instead I received notification that my credit was adversely affected for a $30 bill which I was paying and gave them a date! I never tried to avoid my medical bill but when I initially received a bill of over $200 for testing from **** ***; I wanted to know exactly what they were charging me for and what portion was mine and what portion was my daughters. That is my right as a patient. To hand this off to collections without resolution or calling me back was irresponsible of **** ***, for Met Credit to buy the debt harass me for $30 only a few weeks after I just paid them and to try to adversely impact my credit without letting me know prior after saying they would make a note of my payment was reckless! This company should check the balances are before choosing to target someone’s credit report. $30 is nothing but with the new medical bill collections law coming into effect where medical bills cannot be added to credit reports companies like Met Credit are getting desperate and target people like myself. This needs to be removed immediately from my credit report and I would like an apology! If that does not happen this will be escalated far beyond the BBB I will involve the state and other entities.Business Response

First MetCredit USA did not call the consumer several times a day. After reviewing the call logs there was five attempts made starting on 4/14/22. Each call which there was no answer were no less then five days apart. On 4/24/22 the consumer called and did notify our agent that a payment for one of the $30 was made and would pay the other $30. next month. At the time the consumer was informed on when our next credit reporting would take place. On 5/16/22 the consumer called and spoke with the same agent and was upset the unpaid account was credit reported. Again our agent explained she was informed of that in the previous phone conversation. We have sent a request to have the paid account removed from the consumers credit report and will do the same when the other account is paid.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I was not told that it would be reported to the credit bureau especially when I paid half the balance upon initial phone contact although I did not know what amount was due from the medical facility. I also explained I am disabled and on a fixed inThe purpose of this complaint is to report this company’s unfair collection tactics. Most creditors work with clients in the event there is a balance especially during times such as these. If a client gives half the money in good faith even why go as far as report it without giving the person a chance. Why send multiple text messages? Many people who have medical issues do not have the energy to advocate for themselves. This company’s recklessness brought my credit score down 73 points with one hit! I can understand if I didn’t follow through on my word. I feel they were unnecessarily aggressive. Anyone with a moral compass would strive to resolve an issue before going after a person credit which in turn can affect their quality of life. To bring someone’s credit down over $30 which wasn’t past due! It was petty and I question the ethics of this company so I wanted it to be put in writing. This company lacks compassion, understanding and a willingness to work with clients. If my score does not return back to normal; I will escalate this further. Thank you!
Regards,
***** *****

Tell us why here...We do not credit report accounts until 35 days after our debt validation is sent which in this case was sent on 3/30/22. We never heard from the consumer until 4/27. Accounts are reported on unpaid balances. I have however forwarded this complaint to our compliance department and management and have requested that accounts should not be credit reported after the the 35 day if there is a promise to pay on an account. As i said before we have requested both accounts to be deleted and the files are closed.
