    On 7/8/2023 I provided Island Smile Dental Group with my secondary insurance prior to having a root canal that day. Upon exiting, they told me that I owed "nine forty four," not realizing that the actual charge was nine hundred forty four dollars. I contacted them once I realized the amount charged and they stated that their computer had an error and they'll figure it out by the day I had a cleaning and appointment for my permanent crown placement, which was on 8/9/23. They did not have my refund that day as they stated prior. I then sent them a letter, certified with return receipt. They stated that they did not receive any payment from the insurance companies for the root canal because they mailed the claim instead of filing it digitally, therefore they can not refund me the money. My husband then spoke with them on 8/21/23, telling them we have an explanation of benefits showing it was paid for and we owe nothing and they requested that I email them a copy of the explanation of benefits I received from my insurance companies, so I did that night. They then stated during a conversation with my husband on 8/22/23 that they mailed the claim for the placement of the permanent crown and did not receive the payment, and that they can not refund us yet. After I got out of work today, 8/22/23, I checked the websites for my insurance companies and I found an explanation of benefits saying that both companies paid and I owe nothing. I have emailed them this information on 8/22/23 as well. It has been over a month, almost two months, since they overcharged me and it has been nothing but excuses from them as to why they can not refund us. The charge was on my husbands ******* credit card and his credit score is declining because we are having trouble paying the credit card. Please help because they will not issue a reimbursement for what my insurance companies paid for in full.
