In July of 2024, I hired 1-800Accountant to do both my business and personal taxes. The cost of this service was $2,789. They promised everything on their website and more (please review website for this information). The original person I talked on the phone talked of all these tax deductions they could get for me for renting my residence. It was a great sales pitch and that is all I have received from them. I submitted my taxes on February 27th and they never started doing my taxes until April 16th, after I had to file an extension. I emailed and called numerous times making contact with numerous people asking about when my taxes would get done but they always told me they would escalate my situation. I requested numerous times through their customer support team to talk to a supervisor but never received any calls back. All I have gotten from them is an education in reading the tax laws since when they finally finished my tax return it was wrong. I still have not signed it since I need them to fix it. I have never had such a bad experience with a company. I have spent more time trying to contact them, then it would have taken me to get a accounting degree, it feels like. I do not know what can be done about this companies business practices but it needs to be stopped before they sucker another person into using them.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and I appreciate them looking into how long they took to start doing my taxes. I hope they are able to let me know what took so long.I have been in contact with the accountant from their business the last two days via email. I believe there could have been miscommunication between myself and the account. I believe we both might have misunderstood each other. I will take fault in that misunderstanding so I apologize for being so hard on them in my initial complaint.
I still would like to talk to someone in person to resolve my complaint. I just want to explain to them my situation, so they can approve their company and not have someone go through the same issues I went through.

I got services from this company for my business and paid $737 for the first payment, and got an appointment for April 22 and they never called. They send you reminders like they are going to do the appointment to make you believe they are going to do the appointment but its a scam. This company just takes your money and does not do any *** services. My company missed deadlines to file taxes, now I'm subject to penalties because of this company which puts me out more money. I had to cancel my credit card because they have it on file. This company does shady business practices and they should not have an A rating with the BBB it is very misleading to the consumer who relies on this site when it comes to picking businesses to trust.Business Response

In October 2024, I received numerous calls everyday by a phone number in *******. After the 50th call or so, I decided to finally answer since they would never leave a voicemail. It was a 1-800Accountant sales representative who told me they were a partner with ************ and I was required to signed up for 1-800Accountants services. As a recent college graduate trying to navigate entrepreneurship, their pitch sounded like exactly what I needed. But from the moment I paid, everything started to go south.Appointments were constantly canceled or rescheduled without any formal communication. Their communication has been spotty at bestdays go by without a single response but then they have a billing agent calling me three times per day to make even more payments. Despite being charged $2,789.00, I never received a single real service. All I got was a sales call that they are now classifying as my Discovery Call and a bunch of canceled appointments and no services rendered. After paying $2,789.00, I received NO tax filing help in my 2025 taxes and was told I needed to make another payment if I wanted to schedule an appointment? What did I just pay over $2k for?What makes this even more frustrating is Im not aloneafter doing some research, I found countless others sharing similar experiences online and right here on the BBB. I paid nearly $5000 for all-inclusive account services for an LLC created for my business as an independent contractor with a trucking company. The services promised included total account servicing, including business establishment through the state, payroll, bookkeeping, and tax filing for both the business and personal. The services were sometimes provided, but mostly without follow-up, failing to close the business entity. As a result, I am still receiving Texas workers commissions mail about owing taxes for a business that is not open and hasnt been since July 2024. They have half-heartedly completed my tax preperation with errors and refuse to contact me to resolve the issue. This has caused a last-minute crisis as taxes are due tomorrow. They were notified months ago of the need for account servicing and tax help but didnt take action until the end of March. Feb. 19th I signed up wit 1800 Accountant under the promise and agreement that they would be filing my taxes for the 2025 year including the quarterly estimated taxes. I would have access to a whole team of people but mainly working through my tax advisor who would respond within ***** hours. My add on for the plan:"Quarterly Estimated Taxes (Yearly).Mastering quarterly tax filing is essential to running a business smoothly. Stay compliant, meet your deadlines, and get your maximum refund, guaranteed." They suggested I change from an LLC to an ****** and then when I asked about what I should be doing for quarterly estimated payments the response was: "The est quarterlt tax payments is a general message. Are you operating at a loss, then no need at this time for est tax payments, if you are not operating at a lost, then pay 12 to 15% of your profit on ******* website"This is NOT, according to the agreement, mastering my quarterly tax estimated payment.I requested to switch advisors via phone. I was told I would be assigned a new advisor and they would be reaching out. No follow up. I called in to complain and ask for a refund. They said I would be hearing something back before the end of the weekend. No follow up. I'm done. This "business" has left me in worse standing and no idea what to do. I should've had plenty of time from Feb 19th to now to figure out what I was supposed to plan for in regards to taxes for the quarterly estimated payment for 2025. They didn't care. You enrolled in services with us on February 19, 2025, which included Yearly Quarterly Estimated Taxes and access to a dedicated tax advisor. You also requested support in understanding your quarterly tax payment obligations following a change to an ************* structure.
Unfortunately, your initial advisor did not provide a clear or thorough response to your inquiry. You then requested a reassignment and were told that a new advisor would follow up. However, we found no record of any outreach from your newly assigned advisor, and for that, we sincerely apologize.
Additionally, when you called on April 10, 2025, to request a refund and speak with a manager, a case was created and assignedbut no follow-up ever occurred. This lapse in communication and case management was unacceptable and fell far short of our service standards.
As a result of our findings, a full refund of $3,419.00 was issued back to your credit card. We hope this resolution demonstrates our commitment to making things right.

I hired 1800Accountant *********. I left due to lack of communication and unhappy with the general service. Since February, I have been calling multiple times per week to get a W2 for an employee. Every time I call, they tell me they created a high priority case. Yet I never hear back from them. I decided to go around them and hire a separate accountant but now they cannot provide me with the paystubs! This is a legal issue! I need to provide my previous employee with a W2 and they are leaving me hanging. I also wrote a review on BBB. I am filing this complaint against ***** Accountant due to deceptive sales practices, unauthorized charges, and failure to deliver the services I paid for. I originally paid $1,800 for tax preparation services for both my 2023 personal and business taxes. Despite numerous attempts to communicate with the company, they failed to file my personal taxes, never completed or delivered my business tax filings, and instead offered only access to their softwaresomething I neither needed nor agreed to as a substitute.After raising concerns, I was reassigned to a new tax preparer, who initially seemed helpful. While I was waiting on required documentation to proceed, I discovered that this person was removed from my account without notice, leaving me without any support once again. Due to these delays and lack of service, I was forced to spend an additional $900 to hire a qualified professional to properly file my taxes on ******* make matters worse, I recently noticed an unauthorized charge on my credit card from ***** Accountant. When I contacted them for a refund, they cited their refund policy, which only allows refunds within 30 days of purchase. However, this situation is not a change of mindit is a case of non-performance and misrepresentation. The company took my money, did not deliver what was promised, and now refuses to issue a refund.I feel that I have been misled and financially taken advantage of. Their sales team overpromised, and their operations team completely failed to deliver. I want a full refund and a permanent cancellation of all services and billing.
