Signed up for an expensive bootcamp to receive coding certificate. The class was awfully designed (as someone who works in education). Zero time for retention, questions, very VERY terrible support staff. Now I'm left with an outstanding $6.5K to repay for a certificate I never completed with no options to end monthly installments & no network for future job prospects. This is truly a scam getting students to pay for what they think are ********** resources, when really it's this Trilogy company. They should be shut down the way they're out here robbing folks trying to improve their life/careers.Initial Complaint

I attended and graduated from the Trilogy ******************** ********************** bootcamp. All throughout the bootcamp it was never made known to me that the bootcamp is only provided in partnership with the University but is run by Trilogy. None of the advertisements, emails, even my admissions counselor alluded to this at all. I didnt even find out until one of the last few class sessions when my TAs slipped up and mentioned 2U/Trilogy. I was beyond infuriated as it was far too late to drop out of the course and request a refund at that point, I had already almost graduated. I now owe over $10,000 in private loans for what feels like a scam. In addition to that, I did not even enjoy the course or benefit from it in any way. Yes I have my certificate, but at what cost? I feel like I have retained nothing, but I studied more than the recommended hours, utilized my tutor, asked lots of questions and attended office hours as often as possible. I realize this is a boot camp but I feel severely underprepared for even an entry level or intern role in the industry. Ive not found employment. The most disheartening part is that during one of the last few classes, I presented my groups idea and plan for our final group project. Despite the project plan meeting and exceeding the requirements, the teacher assistant became visibly angry unprovoked, told us our idea was ****, that we would amount to nothing, and might as well all drop out of the bootcamp. Only a few classes before graduating!!! Another one of our group members almost DID drop the course and I had to convince him to continue so he at least didnt waste his money. Another group member was brought to tears. I had to file a formal complaint and absolutely nothing came of it. I feel scammed and disrespected. Im seeking a partial refund while still maintaining the certificate. Yall offer merit scholarships that are meant to **** people in, you can give back part of what I paid for this poor experience.Customer Answer

When I first looked into coding bootcamps this seemed to be the cheapest option. I was also excited it was offered by a local university. After several weeks into the class I found that this is not actually part of the university at all in any way shape or form. This seems to be a deceptive business practice. When speaking with my student success manager I was told I can drop the class but I would still have to pay the entire loan back regardless of if I was enrolled or not. This school is not accredited and lures people on the premise that it is being offered by an ACTUAL university.Customer Answer

:I enrolled in the ********************** Coding Bootcamp that is run by Trilolgy Education Services at the end of October. I looked at the website associated with the bootcamp and thought their advertising could be trusted since they were associated with the **********************. The class is advertised as being appropriate for people who have not previously coded, they also tout 1:1 tutoring and 24/7 online help. The 2nd class in, I was completely lost, the professor was going at a speed that he could not keep up with and with $10,000 on the line had to make the decision to withdraw immediately before the deadline of Nov. 6th.The class started on October 31 Initially called the admissions for this program, he was put in touch with an I withdrew after 3 days in the program. I was informed after I withdrew that they would be keeping a $1000.00 deposit. On the 2nd day of class, I put in a request for a tutor and NEVER heard a word from anyone. I feel like their advertising is blatantly dishonest and I have emailed them about the deposit and as you can see by the attached emails, the Regional Director has declined to return any of the deposit. I could understand if they kept $250 maybe, but honestly the class was not even full so I was not taking a spot from someone else.I believe there were 9 spots left in the class so it's not like I was taking up a spot for someone else, why should they keep $1000 when I enrolled based on false advertising. I was able to find many other people online in my same situation with this company. It's not me, the curriculum is not geared toward beginners like they claim and the help is not there.Initial Complaint

I am paying a sum of 10k dollars to trilogy education, on the stance that it would be a class held by ** *****. They say that youre ************* alumni, enticing us with the guarantee of a job, they hire students to make their hire rate look higher, you can study their textbook for 20 hours a week and still learn next to nothing without the help of ******** This is a ******* education marketed as a university class and no real business takes this certification seriously.Initial Complaint

As soon as I hit submit button expressing interest, I received a phone call all about the program. Now most people would take that as efficiency, but I should have seen that as a Red Flag. At that point, I felt pressured to fill out the application process and to pay $1000 down even though program didn't start for another 2 months. There was no mention during the initial conversation Trilogy wouldn't refund my $1000 down payment, nor did they say the call would be recorded. I received an offer on a job which I took but realized that I would be wasting my time and money on this boot camp. I asked about options but Trilogy then told me they would not refund the $1000 even though I paid way in advance, classes didn't start on June 8th. I would like the full refund of $1000 in return since I gave them ample notice, I would not be attending the boot camp class and no assignments were completed on my end. They never gave me a copy of the form saying the $1000 is non refundable. When I asked for copy they couldn't supply me with one.Customer Answer

I signed up for the Data Boot Camp through a local university. I later found out is actually operated by this company (Trilogy). Speaking to the recruiter before I signed up I expressed concerns as I do not have any experience in data language and etc. He stated that I would be fine and that 90% of their students pass. After speaking with the recruiter I was very excited and decided to join. During the 1st class they explained that we will need to spend additional hours outside of class to study which I was fine with however after about a week of being in the program I realized that the pace is entirely too fast and the information coming out through a water hose. I have spent the suggested hours outside of class, have used additional resources like LinkedIn learning and even signed up for a tutor through the program and I am still trying learn what we were shown in the 1st week. Not to mention we only have access to the tutor for 1 hour a week. I attend office hours with the instructor and TA's but most of the time I'm not even caught up enough to engage in the discussion. There is no way I can learn this or even somewhat learn this considering I have no prior knowledge and the pace of the program. I reached out to the Support email in regards to what I can to get out of the program per the contract but its has been a week I have received no response. I have followed up 3 times and called 3 times but I cant speak to anyone. My loan is scheduled to pay out to them in a few days so Im not sure if they are waiting for that to happen before they respond to me. I cant even stop the loan from being paid out without speaking to Trilogy 1st. I feel scammed and forced to stay in a program where I know I will not be successful because the program I thought I could trust is taking advantage of me. Im about to pay 10K and I cant speak to anyone -This has to be breach of contract. If they want to make money of me I will pay the1k deposit right now. I just want out!Customer Answer

******* is offering Cybersecurity and Network Bootcamp that is actually provided and taught by Trilogy Education. The only reason I actually signed up for the course is because they were partnered with one of the most prestigious colleges in the country. The bootcamp website and recruiters state Trilogy says no experience is needed to learn and perform the functions of a cybersecurity professional by attending one of their bootcamps. The caveat is you have to pay a $1000 deposit that is non-refundable regardless of the situation. Also, you only have 1 week into the course to drop without be responsible for the $9000 balance. However, 1 week into the class you haven't began learning anything. We're discussing all the wonderful, 6 figure careers that you'll be qualified for upon completion. The practice is deceptive and predatory. I believe they purposely structure the "drop" this way before you realize the course is worthless. Here I am in week three being told by the "Teacher" that ****** is my best friend. The instructor is NOT a teacher and does not teach anything. He reads slides for *********************************************************************************************************************************** knowledge because it has to cover so much ground in very little time. From what I can tell, the teacher is given a list of topics to cover within an allotted time of 10 mins, then students have 15 minutes todo an activity. Its nearly impossible for the instructors to stay on pace because as soon as questions are asked, we fall behind schedule, so activities are cut short, which is bad since students would benefit from doing all the exercises. What ends up happening is instructors rush through the curriculum for the ENTIRE bootcamp in order to keep the class on track. This course is nothing but a money grab! It's a shame that reputable universities have partnered with them agreeing to steal money from folks looking to better themselves.
