I decided to turn to then for some help for a financial situation that I fell upon. The guy I spoke to sold it. We broke down what I'd be paying per pay period. I was excited about how it would go. Since April, I've been putting money into them, and my creditors started getting aggressive. I notified them, and they said ignore them, give them this NY number and it's part of the process. During this time, some of my creditors sent emails to negotiate my debts at a cost lower than National Debt Relief was going to do. Again, I was told to ignore them. I log in and I see a message saying contact them. I do. Im put on hold for 17 minutes. I call back and am put on hold for 10 minutes, all to have someone answer and tell me they can't help me and I'll have to be transferred to yet another person. This is going to be your experience. We'll. As you can see by the pictures. Nothing has been negotiated. I could of have 4 of my debts negotiated on my own and probably settled already had I not utilized them. So now I submitted a cancellation and they're playing with my money. To date I've paid them $1222.50. They're showing my balance being $906. I want a FULL REFUND IMMEDIATELY OF $1222.50. It's funny. They shut off everything in my portal and give me this long message about helping me but NOT A SINGLE WORD ABOUT MY REFUND, when to expect, and why its wrong. STAY AWAY AND NEGOTIATE YOUR OWN DEBT!!!!!!!!

I used national debt relief to help settle credit card issues, they transferred me to a secondary company because Iowa has to have a law firm represent me. I had forgotten I signed up for automatic withdrawals. I paid for a stop payment at the bank and when I dissolved the agreement we (myself and the company) were under the impression they did not need to return the second payment because I had stopped the payment. I found out through my bank that they didn't stop it and now I have to try and get the money back myself. However after they confirmed that they would give me a refund I have been hung up on once I was transferred to their help desk. The following day, the man answering the phone insisted I identify myself so he could look up the account before transferring me. I was put on hold for about 20 minutes and then I had to take another call so I hung up and called back later. I called back later in the morning and this time I asked to be put through to management and they left me on hold for two hours without answering. This service was provided through an accredited debt resolution service, and I feel as if I unkowlingly got transferred to a less reputable company who is now attempting to hold my money.

Im sorry you couldnt access them, It took me and a library staff employee to try to figure out how to upload them.  For some reason it was some strange custom setting or something.  They were emails requesting my money back from the only point of contact I had.  I had signed up for national debt reief, and I hadnt realized they transferred me to a secondary company when they explained that I had to have legal representation in **** to negotiate my credit card debt.  They had me provide my bank account information to set aside funds to pay once they negotiated a resolution for my credit card debts.  I noticed the second withdrawl and went to the bank and paid for a stop payment and then called the law firm to dissolve the agreement, and told them about the stop payment, and we both were under the impression that the bank had stopped the second withdrawl.  After two days I inquired with the bank and they told me it was my job to get the funds back.  I called the law firm back and they agreed I was owed the second payment transferred me to the correct department where I was on hold for about half and hour and then hung up on Friday evening.  I couldnt get through after that.  I called Saturday morning, and had give me information to get transferred to the help desk, and was on hold for about 30 minutes when I had to hang up.  I called back asking to get transferred and they made me identify myself again and this time I asked if I could talk to a manager.  I was on hold for two hours without my call being picked up.  Sunday I sent an email to ****** the lawyer I had been talking to asking about the issue, and then contacted you.  At this point my money has been returned to me.  It was a very long difficult process, but at this point seems to have been resolved.  Is there a way I can forward emails to you instead of attaching documents, or is there someting I need to do to change the document so you can read them?

On May 30, 2024 I called and spoke to ******************************* and asked to be withdrawn from the program and he seemingly was acting like he was going through the process of doing that. He asked me twice You are calling today to withdraw from the program is this correct? And I stated yes both time.. he assured me that I will receive an email in 24 hours stating about my cancellation from the program and that I would no longer have access to the portal. I never receive that email and when I went to the portal I was able to get on the dashboard and I saw where he just adjusted the next withdrawal from my bank account from June 7th to June 21st. So he never canceled my withdrawal from the program. I also contacted ******** and issued a cancellation form by email to not take anymore money out of my account as of June ******. ******* started that the $595.02 that is in the account will be returned to my bank in 3-10 business days.

In a nut shell, the **** account was turned over to the company at the start in June 2023 with the **** card not yet transferred to a "collection company" Yet when NDR sent a payment option they put up their hands and di no more literally of either accepting ****'s offer or even offering to take car of it as they were supposed to. In the process because of their lame excuse policy of trying to do the best deal they literally did not care at all to repair or deal with the credit card company thereby making them surrender their service and giving the settlement of us having to pay the collection company themselves and do it with paying an extra $1,000.00 dollars yet they say they are :"debt relief???" They handled the **** account totally wrong LETTING it go to collections knowingly and still not rectifying the problem!! Plus the other account of ************* THEY COULD NOT EVEN FIND OUT ANYTHIUNG BECAUSE THE SO CALLED LEGAL SERVICE DOES NOT CARE EITHER! At the very beginning they do not disclose all when they solicit your service for they quote you a price without the hidden or knowable fee of 25% per account to settle until you are literally in the signing process The $5,982 is an amount that has been paid so far but that is not the problem It is the way they denied or rejected any way at all of dealing with or doing their job to satisfy the debt to **** card account. They take way too long and they do not care at all about the customer, they only want the money no matter whether they satisfy any to all or none of the clients credit accounts that are submitted.

All i wanted them to do was to pay the amount to the **** card after all since they turn their debt over to another loan company that we already will be dealing with. The amount to be paid is the $3,749.00 or so cents and it is to the collection agency letter. The $5,982 dollars is payments we have made, again, the disputed amount is the $3,794.00 or so of the **** card collection agency. NDR would get the money back anyway, why cant they just pay that one too!!!??

      Dear BBB,

This email is regarding complaint #********.

Our client success team spoke with ****************** about his experience.  With regard to National Debt Relief, he graduated our program when he accepted a consolidation loan to cover remaining settlement payments. This means that all of his enrolled creditors were settled and are considered settled in full by his creditors.  It can sometimes take up to 90 days for the creditor to report the new status to the credit bureaus once the final payment is received, and it looks like ****************** completed the program in late March if this year. For any questions about creditor specific reporting, he should contact the creditor directly to ask.  He should also receive a paid-in-full letter from the creditor, but if he does not he can call them and request one.

Any concerns related to the consolidation loan will need to be addressed by the loan company, which we are not.

Thank you for choosing National Debt Relief to assist with your debt settlement.

      National Debt Relief

NDR claims they will negotiate your credit accounts and help you to avoid litigation. However, instead of them negotiating more accounts, they have only made payments on 5 credit accounts. I have allowed them to take $1530 for the past 4 months. They are applying most of the payments to only 1 creditor, Discover, that had a high balance. They took their 25% fee immediately. This is the data on the Discover account: Balance At Settlement: $2956.58. **************** $2808.76. They claimed I saved $886.82. However, I've only saved $147.82 from the original balance due on the account because their fee was $739.15. NDR has only paid this creditor $300 out of $1530 in their Betrlink escrow account where the funds are held. They claim that Discover is aggressive. I told them I wanted more accounts settled with a lower payment to Discover. I previously discussed paying Discover $55/month and NDR is paying them more.I am totally dissatisfied with their service and believe they misrepresented the saving that customers would achieve with their program. I called to cancel on 5/10/24 and they want me to pay a fee of $1089.15 to cancel. They only paid $560.88 out of the account to creditors. That's it! I want to cancel to get help elsewhere.I want my remaining funds that were deposited in the escrow account in the amount of $969.12 refunded to me. I don't want to pay their fee! They did not provide the service they claimed to provide at all! They are committing fraud! They claim on their website that they can save 38% and they tell you they can save even more for the debt settlement. I only saved 1/20th of the debt owed on the Discover account! They also keep asking you to increase the deposits to the escrow account. They are all about collecting fees. They are not about helping people resolve debt or working with integrity although they claim that on their website. The website is all lies and the work they do is a scam!

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      [Your Answer Here]

I canceled the program in writing via email with NDR and Betrlink on 5/22/24.

On 5/23/24, I received a call from ***** with NDR and was told since I was only in the program for 4 months, "YOU SHOULD HAVE ALL THE SETTLEMENT FEES RETURNED IN THE AMOUNT OF $824.00, BUT THIS IS STILL UNDER REVIEW."

I received a $243.31 deposit of my returned funds that were in the Betrlink escrow account.

On 6/7/24, I received another call from ***** stating "THE REVIEW WAS COMPLETED AND YOU WILL RECEIVE ABOUT $600 EARLY NEXT WEEK.  WE WILL HAVE TO RE-OPEN THE BETRLINK ACCOUNT TO TRANSFER THE ***** TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT."

Today, 6/10/24, I called BetrLink to inquire when I would receive the money and they told me to call NDR.

I called NDR and was transferred to ***** who said, "IT'S STILL UNDER REVIEW."  I told him I wanted to speak to management and he had me hold 3x and asked if someone could call back and I said, no I need this resolved now.  I canceled the program on 5/22/24 and I still have not received my money.  He finally said, "THE REVIEW WAS APPROVED ON 6/6/24 IN THE AMOUNT OF $619.85.  YOU SHOULD RECEIVE THE DEPOSIT BY 6/13/24.  IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT BY THEN, CALL US BACK."

Why was I told I would receive $824 of my money back on 5/23/24 and on 6/10 I'm told I will receive $619.85.  What exactly does THEIR REVIEW consist of that they can keep $204.15 of my money because someone decided that?

They have stalled, lied and stolen from me.

I will be surprised if I actually get the money back.  This "business" should not be handling anyone's money!

      Dear BBB,

When our team initially spoke with ********************, she was informed of the total fees collected.  She was requesting a full refund of fees, but we informed her that we could not promise her that and that the request would be reviewed.  A pro-rate was approved for the fees, due to funds already being paid to her creditor.  Based on the progress of the settlements and what is left, she was provided a refund. As stated to the client on each call, we record our calls, so we were able to review the calls and confirm that she was not told that she was going to receive a full refund of fees.

At the beginning of November ***** we signed a contract with National Debt Relief to pay off our credit card debt, a total of over $71,000. They were debiting our bank account $492.50 twice a month. We were still getting phone calls from creditors and letters from attorneys. When we checked our account on April 28, 2024 we found out next to nothing had been paid and only. 2 creditors had been contacted. They even lied about what was paid out. We canceled & demanded a statement. We had paid $4,462.50 and NDR had paid out only $800. They took their fees up front and left a balance of $9.82.This is fraud! We want a full refund!!
