On 4/7/2023 I paid $228.00 for periodontal scaling and root planing in all four quadrants of my mouth. I was told that this was a *necessary* procedure and quoted the amount I paid.Since then, Group Health Dental has been trying to get me to pay an additional $194.40 because my insurance has claimed that it was *not necessary* for all four quadrants. During this time, Group Health Dental sent *one* appeal despite the fact that I have asked them to send multiple appeals multiple times. My insurance has stated that they need additional information as to why it was necessary. It seems from the lack of an appeal and from the way that I have been ignored multiple times, that this is due to them not having any real reason for me needing it and it was simply a way for them to extract more money out of **** have been unable to reach any superiors to discuss, instead I am only able to reach the front office, who occasionally redirect me to billing, though often times billing does not have access.I keep getting sent multiple notifications over and over again harassing me for this payment when they will not spend the time with my insurance to resolve it.Additionally, they used my credit card number in an unauthorized manner, charging me $800 on my credit card for no reason out of the blue on September 1, 2023. When I called, billing stated that they had no record of it. I had to order a chargeback through my credit company.Initial Complaint

General Dentist vs Cosmetic Dentist. I had two crown teeth done on my original front teeth at this dentist office. The crowns were dark and discolored from the original teeth. The dentist office gave me a do over. I saw a new dentist there who stated he do Cosmetic dentistry and he did a superstars teeth and this person is on TV currently. He stated how he could do my teeth over and make them look beautiful. He stated he did not like veneers he only work with crowns. I did six of my front teeth over and put crown on them. That very week they began to fall out as I walked down the street. They are painful, sensitive and the alignment is off. There is a hole in the new crown teeth because the alignment is off. I have been working with the dental office to try to resolve this issue but to no avail. Another dentist that work there have been rebonding them. I have received bills for the rebonding which the dental office should pay. I saw another cosmetic Dentistry who stated it would cost ****** dollars to fix which I think this group Health Dental should paid. This is pain and suffering. My gums and teeth are healthy. My tooth are still there just very tiny. I can never get back my original teeth. This is time, effort and money taken from my life. I am asking that they paid for all damages. Also the bottom back tooth there was a crow and something broke inside the crown I had to get that replaced . Please me to get a resolution. I have been working try try to get this solved nothing yetInitial Complaint

I was a patient at Group Health Dental a while ago, but I have not returned to this facility since the pandemic. During my previous visits, I had always paid any costs before leaving their office, so I do not have any outstanding bills to pay. Since then, I have continued to receive text messages and emails that remind me of outstanding bills. These communication comes for a few months, stops then comes back with a different amount. The first time this happened, I contacted them and they admitted it was a billing error which was corrected. But I continue to receive bill reminders, each time of a varying amount, and it's usually under $100. I have asked them to check their billing records (which they outsource to a different company) and received no reply. Personally I think they're spamming such messages to all of their former and existing patients, knowing that some people will mistakenly believe the message for a real outstanding bill and pay the amount without checking first. This is an egregious business practice. I have also repeatedly asked them to remove my email from their outreach email list because I will never return to their practice, but I continue receiving promo and reminder for checkup emails.Business Response

Good afternoon,
I had spoken to the patient regarding the balance on her account and explained that it was a cancelled appointment with our specialist on 02/22/2021 that she had and our system charged her a $50 according to our 48hr office policy. Patient was here at our office on 02/19/2021 for a limited exam and we were able to accommodate the patient the following day for her treatment. There is a system that generates statements to patients who have balances on there account. As A courtesy I went ahead and waived all balances off. I do apologize if the patient felt wronged in any way, but patient was aware of the office policy and we did try to accommodate her as well. Patient account is all clear.
Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:***** ****** ********************** ***** ******* ******** *** **** ***** ** *** ***** ********** **************************** ******** ******** ********* ****** ** ********
Hello,
I am writing regarding a complaint I filed under #********. My complaint was against the business Group Health Dental. Since the pandemic lockdown in March 2020, I have not visited the business nor have I made any appointments there. I had also always my bills in full upon my visits previously so I do not have any outstanding bills. Yet I continue receiving bill collection emails and text messages that I have unpaid bills, each time with various amounts. These reminders would spam my inbox for a few months, stop and then come back with a different amount. I suspect this is a predatory business practice that they spam every patient's email saying they owed a bill just small enough that some people will just pay the bill without asking. I asked in my complaint that they remove this bill from my file, and that they stop all future communication with me, since I will never go back to this facility.
I received a response from the business Group Health Dental. (show below). What they described was at best incredibly lousy business practice because they were clearly describing a different person, or a complete lie. No one from the facility had called or emailed me to explain. And I never made any appointments with them or visited since March 2020. Could you please contact the business on my behalf again and ask them to remove me from all of their future communications? Thank you.
Best,

I receive intimidating phone calls, texts and emails regarding a balance due amount the billing department indicates both I and my son ******************I have emblem health insurance whom covers all costs for participating dental work. Its contract states that for services not covered, the provider will write off any balance. This provider claims I owe balances. For two years I have requested an itemized bill and an explanation of benefits from emblem health, for clarification. Yet, instead intimidation tactics are being used and my requests avoided.
