I had an ugly experience with Zarin.I purchased a lovely Zarin Antique Red Linen Velvet to reupholster a beloved sofa, but the outside upholsterer purloined my fabric and covered my sofa instead in a rough corduroy fabric close in color. I could see right away what had happened and had the original swatch of fabric from Zarin to prove it. I had to repurchase a similar fabric from Zarin and have the entire upholstery job redone by a different upholsterer. But when I took the first upholsterer to Small Claims court, to recover the $4,333 I had lost, the Zarin fabric merchant testified in favor of the upholsterer, even though he had agreed to be my witness: when the fabric merchant concluded his testimony, the upholsterer's lawyer thanked him, and he thanked the upholsterer's lawyer, twice!Owner ***** ***** had a determining hand in this outcome. It is self-evident that an upholsterer and an upholstery fabric merchant can benefit each other, by sending business one to the other.Disgracefully, Zarin seems more interested in making the next sale, rather than having any sense of loyalty to a customer who had spent nearly $3k between two concluded sales.I would proceed with extreme caution with respect to this merchant; my experience indicates an absence of basic integrity. Please see the earlier complaint of another customer who was very aggrieved by **********************'s treatment of her. A pattern emerges.

********************** came into our store and picked out two red velvet samples. When she returned at a later date to purchase the fabric, she guided our salesperson to the fabric she wanted. Our salesperson took the fabric off the rack, measured it, packed it, and shipped it to her upholsterer who then proceeded to use it to upholster her sofa. ********************** even visited her upholsterer during the process and approved of the job he was doing. When the sofa was finished she complained that the upholsterer stole her fabric and replaced it with a different red velvet. Upon investigating the issue, we confirmed that the fabric purchased was indeed the fabric her upholsterer used on her sofa. It appears that ********************** either had buyer's remorse or guided our salesperson to and then purchased the wrong fabric. All evidence supports this, and the small claims court agreed. We do not have a business relationship with her upholsterer, and had no incentive to deceive **********************.

In order to absolve itself, Zarin rewrites history. It is not true that I picked out two red velvet samples. In a 3/25/21 email to the upholsterer (defendants exhibit C), Zarins owner wrote that his salesman confirmed that the fabric she purchased was only one fabric she was interested in.Zarins investigati[on] [of] the issue was inadequate. Indeed, on the eve of trial, in a 3/6/21 in-person conversation, Zarins owner admitted that the upholsterer might have hoodwinked him. That night, I followed with an email stating: he may be sending you swatches that are NOT of the fabric he put on the sofa. Zarin did not determine whether the fabric the upholsterer REPRESENTED he had put on my sofa was indeed the fabric he actually PUT ON my sofa. Two businessmen collude to cheat a single mother of modest means.Recall that because of the upholsterers scam, Zarin got a second sale from me. Zarin may not do business DIRECTLY with the upholsterer, but clients of the upholstererfor whom Zarin has done so muchcan be encouraged to go to Zarin, and vice versa.

**********************:I am sorry for your financial loss. We did everything in our power to help you, including urging you to take the settlement offered by your upholsterer when it became clear that the mistake was yours. You refused to settle and the court ruled in favor of your upholsterer because it was clear that the fabric you initially purchased was the same as the one your upholsterer used on your sofa.We wish you the best.
