I downloaded the app to see what it was all about. I didn't sign up till the next day after I received an email sent on 3/13 stating my first month was free but needed to enroll by midnight on 3/14. I clicked on the link provided to enroll and once enrolled received a message that I would be charged $9.99 on 3/24. There is no phone number to call if you have issues so I had to resort to sending a chat message to try and resolve the issue. The chat was ******* and sent a message to the live repo who emailed me. In the email, the rep stated that I missed the deadline to accept the offer and they could not honor it. I sent proof of when the email was sent to me and proof of when I enrolled and they stated still I missed the deadline. This was false advertising bait and switch.Business Response

Brigit is in receipt of BBB complaint ID ******** filed by *************************** regarding a free month promotion.
Please be advised that Brigit takes consumer complaints seriously and all complaints are thoroughly investigated. Sometimes Brigit may ask consumers for additional information or evidence to support their claims.
In this instance, Brigit found this user was offered a free month promotion that was only offered for a limited time. The offer was only valid until midnight on the day that she received the email. We are showing that she signed up for our membership the day after the email was sent, therefore the offer had since expired. That being said, we will skip her March 2023 fee. After March 2023, her membership will no longer be free and will be charged monthly. Please note that we will not be able to skip any further fees for this user in the future.

Upon signing up for the Brigit app, my account became stuck, on an infinite loop as their platform attempted to finalize some aspect of my account. I made several attempts and logical IT user fixes to access my account but it was deadlocked on their end and I was unable to access any of their services/products.When informing customer service if this matter and how they had been charging me for the usage of their service they offered no technical assistance of any import and told me I was ineligible for a refund as my account was active for the 2 months I was charged. I wanted to contest this basis on the fact that goods and services promised were not provided. Not only is this a financial institution, but one that purports to be altruistic in nature, assisting individuals towards a goal of solvency.Business Response

In August of 2021 I opened a Credit Builder Account that required me to make monthly payments in the amount of $25. On 1/3/22 I closed my credit builder account as I could not afford the monthly payments however I continued to use the cash advances. In November of 2022 I attempted to pay back a cash advance but I kept receiving error message that my bank account was no longer linked. I worked with technical support to fix the issue. On 12/3/2 I opened the Brigit App and saw an alert that said the account that I closed on 1/3/22 had $100 in it and and I could transfer the funds into my checking account, I requested the funds on 12/7/22. Then I opened another account on 12/9/22 and made 3 payments of $25 each and on 2/22/23 I closed it because my bank now offers the same type of account. I attempted to request my $75 and now they are stating the balance was $0. This is incorrect as I between the two accounts I made $175 in deposits and I have only been paid $100. I have provided screenshots to customer service supporting the fact they owe me $75 and they still claim I am owed nothing. I have asked for proof of the withdrawals but the only thing I received was an email that advised that it was refunded but that is not true. The last refund was in the amount of $100 and it was delivered 12/7/22 but I reopened the account on 12/9/22 with $25 I paid $25 on 1/9/23 and 2/9/23 totaling $75 and that account was not closed until February of 2023. It is extremely difficult to communicate with this company as I can not speak with a live person they only communicate via emailBusiness Response

Brigit is in receipt of BBB complaint ID ******** filed by **************;regarding their ********************** amount.
Please be advised that Brigit takes consumer complaints seriously and all complaints are thoroughly investigated. Sometimes Brigit may ask consumers for additional information or evidence to support their claims.
In this instance, Brigit found this user paid ******************** a total of $175. The user may review their bank account and see the 4 Credit Builder payments of $25 on 9/9/21, 10/7/21, 11/4/21, and 12/12/21. They then sent themselves the savings balance of $100 to their bank account on 1/3/22. Due to an internal issue, this user was able to send themselves another $100 deposit on 11/30/22, despite not having any funds in their account. At this point, as of 11/30/22, they were overpaid by Brigit by $100. We are providing a screenshot, directly from the user's Varo account, showing the 2 $100 deposits. One on 1/3/22 and the other on 11/30/22. They opened another Credit Builder account and paid $25 on 12/9/22, 1/9/23, and on 2/9/23. The additional $75 this user paid towards their Credit Builder is already covered by the extra $100 deposit sent on 11/30/22. As of 11/30/22, their savings balance was -$100 and the $75 payments are applied to that overpayment. This user only paid ******************** $175 for their Credit Builder account, but due to an error, they received $200 from Brigit, meaning they were overpaid by $25. Since this user was overpaid, there is no further deposits we can send this user. Please note that we are not expecting this user to repay the $25 that still remains overpaid.

On 2/24/23 I canceled my plus membership. When I signed up I was informed I could cancel anytime, as long as it was I believe 3-4 days before next charge, I would not be billed again. They are saying they will charge my again on 3/10/23. Why? I canceled. I sent an email not to charge my card, removing the right to use that card or my account. This is an unfair practice and they know it. If someone wants to cancel a membership they should have the right to. These companies make things so easy to sign up for then when you want to cancel you have to search and jump through hoops. Ok was talking about another one but it shouldnt be so easy for them to get away with these tactics. Its only **** true but its 2 hours of sleep as well.Business Response

Brigit is in receipt of BBB complaint ID ******** filed by *********************;regarding a refund of the *** fees that their bank charged them.
Please be advised that Brigit takes consumer complaints seriously and all complaints are thoroughly investigated. Sometimes Brigit may ask consumers for additional information or evidence to support their claims.
In this instance, Brigit found that to prevent pulling our repayment on the incorrect day, we have our users confirm their due date before they can request an advance, and always send our users a notification 48-hours before the due date. We do this so if they won't have the funds on the suggested date, they have enough time to make the changes through the extension feature in the app. We need at least 3 business days' notice to make any adjustments if they are unable to extend their due date in the app.
*** fees are charged by the user's bank. Because the fee(s) were charged by their bank, we don't have the capacity to refund their overdraft fee.We are showing the user requested their account be deleted by Brigit and that request was honored before this BBB complaint was filed.

I tried to update my bank account information because it seems like the app kept requesting me to do it, saying that Im not receiving any direct deposits to my account and thats not true; I get my paycheck deposited to my same account every two weeks. Then, ** told in an email from customer service that they no longer work with my bank (Green **** which I wasnt informed about, and I would have to link another bank account but Im not switching my account because Ive had it for over ten years. Im also enrolled in Plus, but I dont know if my credit is affected because Im unable to make payments on the loan because they wont take the agreed payment from my account. I just want to unsubscribe from everything that has to do with Brigit; it was great in the beginning but now its all a big messBusiness Response

I just want to say i'm not the type of person to complain, yet with the absolute confusion that Brigit's customer service has caused is astounding. I have had the Brigit Credit Builder Loan since July 2022, The first few months I saw no issue and it was a easy interface but after my fourth month every time i attempted to make a payment i would receive a failed payment message. I figured this could be solved quickly by the service team but upon contacting numerous members about this issue they would just schedule payments that would never work (yet the 9.99$ monthly subscription fee is made every month) this hasn't affected my credit score poorly because they have kept up their end of paying part of the loan but i have received numerous texts and emails stating that my credit account will go delinquent if i do not make a payment( Ive been trying since december) **************** agents have just pushed off the issues i've had and honestly at this point i just want to close the loan and remove my account but i can't because it says i have a payment waiting to be processed and it has been saying that for the last month now 1/2023-2/2023 and when i emailed a customer service agent they said there was a issue and it would be fixed soon I will admit i forgot to respond but i doubt my response to that email would have genuinely solved this issue i've been having for about 5 monthsBusiness Response

On January 24, 2023, I signed up for Brigit ************ offered by the Company Brigit - *********** costs **** and is active for 30 days - until February 24, 2023.Brigit Plus gives you the option to get a cash advance that you pay back with a fee. I requested the cash advance and paid back the advance plus the fee on January 27, 2023.As I no longer required the service, on February 13, 2023, I wanted to cancel the membership as I did not want to be charged again. On the Brigit application, it states that I have to cancel/change membership on their website on a desktop - Hellobrigit.com.I went to their website and changed the membership from the Plus one to the Free one so that I am not charged anymore. However, on their website, once i changed it, it says that I will be charged one final subscription on February 24, 2023. Why? if I cancelled the service prior to the previous 30 days that I had for paying the subscription on January 24, 2023.I asked a representative of theirs and she said that I had paid for the previous 30 days and that they were going to charge me the fee on February 24. I asked them to explain that logic and they have refused to reply to my emails.Business Response

Nowhere on their website does it spicify that the subscription is for each individual month. Instead, they frame it as a monthly subscription which automatically refers to 30 days anywhere you go.
What they are saying is that a "monthly subscription" only has 11 days if you signed up on January 21, 2023 until the end of the month.
The subcription model says a monthly subscription. I would like this fee waived and for them to be more specific on their website.

The date of the transaction was January 31, 2023, the amount of product was $9.99. I just want a refund and they are not willing to provide a refund after it was suppose to be a reversal. I downloaded this app Brigit on my phone to see what the cash advance was all about I had my bank account information on there but it always said I did not qualify for a cash advance at that time with my first bank account information. So later I tried another bank then after the second bank account information was linked but it said that I still did not qualify so I never messed with anymore I tried to delete my bank information but it would not let me and then later I got an email stating that I qualified for a cash advance so that is when I opened the app and proceed with trying to get the cash advance but first it told me I had to upgrade to the plus membership first in order to proceed with cash advance which was $9.99 so I did that once I paid for that then I proceeded to get the cash advance and after I did all that it told me I was not approved at that time and I would not be charged for the upgrade of the membership and they would be doing a refund reversal and that was not done I was still charged on February 1st 2023. I contacted the company email and told them the issue and asked for a refund and they told I could not be refunded because I activated the membership within 30 days so I'm actually being charged for something I can not use and I have since then deleted the account as of today. This company is no good please stay away all I asked for my refund and I doubt I won't get it either.Business Response

They are scammers and they don't like to refund customers for services that they donot qualify for. Since I have made a complaint about these people in each response they have sent the same exact message every time. You can't talk to anyone they do all communications through email and when you get a response through email it is the same thing you get a repeat message. People please don't business with this company you will get scammed very quick. I never took out a loan because I didn't qualify but in order for you to qualify for the advance you have to upgrade to a plus membership and when you don't qualify they will not refund your money back for services and then will tell you when you qualify but you have to keep paying ***** a month before you become qualified...
