My son, *****************, joined this gym in September 2022. On October 13th, my son witnessed sexual activity between two individuals in the men's steam room and reported it to the gym management. This event was extremely traumatizing and **** told the manager that he did not intend to return. Management told him that they would terminate his membership and refund his October charges. The gym employee told **** to expect a credit on his credit card bill. Since this was my credit card I was unaware of the charges and the charges continued up to and including January 2023. There are $595.66 in charges that need to be refunded. **** and I spoke to the gym manager - *******, who acknowledged that he was aware of the incident, as were others, and that because **** did not sign a cancellation, the membership was never canceled, and was responsible for the charges. For the record, **** never returned to that gym after Oct 13th. Jan 02 TMPL *********** - $130.63 Dec 02 TMPL *********** - $130.63 Nov 02 TMPL *********** - $130.63 Oct 17 TMPL *********** - $73.14 Oct 03 TMPL *********** - $130.63 Total: $595.66 This incident is troubling. It was a traumatic experience for my son. **** learned that management was and is aware of sexual activity occurring in the steam room but has not put any security or processes in place to prevent this from occurring or even alerting members that it was an issue. They seem to condone this behavior by seemingly ignoring it. If this financial part is not resolved we intend to contact legal and criminal authorities.

The website for TMPL gyms has several faulty links that directly inhibit an existing member from being able to cancel or freeze membership. The membership cancellation page has a link that takes you to a blank screen, and the membership cancellation page has a link that sometimes provides an error notice in lieu of actually filing the freeze request. I made multiple attempts to cancel my membership and freeze my membership only to have none of them register and have no one from the gym management contact me. The manager of the gym refused to acknowledge the issues with the website and is refusing to honor the 30-day cancellation policy from the dates of my first, third, and fourth attempts to modify my membership via the online cancellation or freeze features. Because this is an error on the part of the service provider and their failure as a company to provide adequate resources to their members to update membership information, I do feel that I am being taken advantage of. I acted in accordance with the policy that I signed when I became a member which specifies a 30-day cancellation requirement. I attempted to cancel on 12/29, 12/30, and 12/31 and was never contacted by anyone from the gym, making it a failure on the part of the gym and its staff. I have explained the situation to the manager who is refusing to escalate the issue or provide any guidance on when the company will fix the website.

      Hi there,

Your cancellation was made at the end of December and due to our 30 day cancellation process, were only charged one more time. There were no faulty or extra charges on this account.

For any additional questions or clarity please let us know.

I belonged to ******** sports club on west 41st. I cancelled my membership in March of 2020 via phone as we were required to shelter in place and leave the city immediately. The representative confirmed it was cancelled due to covid. I was not charged after that. Unbeknownst to me in September of 2020 I started being charged $104.00 a month from a fitness club called TMPL in H**** Kitchen. I did not realize it as I thought it was my religious congregation as I was on a payment plan with them. On October 30th 2022 I noticed $310 on my card which caught my attention. It was from TMPL. I then called to find out $2,367 was charged to my card since September of 2020. I never stepped foot into TMPL. My gym where I was enrolled never reopened since March 2020. I contacted TMPL who admitted via email their mistake. On October 31st I was told I was going to be refunded and 30 days later I have not received a refund. This is dishonest. I was told all NYSC were automatically transferred to TMPL. I was not notified nor did I give permission to charge my card every month from a gym I did not sign up for nor did I ever attend. I contacted TMPL again who stated it could take another 30 days. 60 days to simply refund a charge? I am not confident I will get this refund. I appreciate any help you can provide in this matter ***************************.

Hi. I signed up for a personal training membership entitling me to 12 sessions a month for 6 months. Over the course of the program the trainer became less and less available and eventually quit. According to the gym, all of my sessions have been redeemed: the gym falsely redeemed/stole my sessions and wont give me a refund.

TMPL is billing my Amex credit card $13.81 for a fitness club fee that was cancelled a long time ago. Apparently this company took over gyms in *** and inherited all the members information. This is how they got my credit card info. I called this company and spoke to a gentleman and asked him what this fee was for. He took my name and phone number and looked up the account and said he did not see any charges on the account. However the charge has been posted on my **************** credit card. I never belonged to this gym and have no contract with this gym. They should not be billing me anything, and I am requesting that they reverse that charge and that they remove my Credit card information from their systems.

On April 30, 2022, I went to TMPL Fitness to freeze my account for the month of May. I was subsequently charged for the month of May after being told in the club that I would not be charged. Given the unauthorized charge, my bank went into a negative balance and I received a $28 fee from my bank. I contacted TMPL on May 1, 2022 about the charges and they told me they would forward my concern to the manager. After hearing nothing from the manager and sending a follow-up email, I went into the club to cancel my entire membership due to their inability to effectively communicate with their customers. The amount they charged me was $87.78 and I received a fee of $28 from my bank. Therefore, I am seeking a $115.78 refund from TMPL Fitness ***********.

I write concerning charges that were made without my consent, for monthly gym membership fees for services which were not provided. (Membership *********) Between October 2020 and June 2021, during the pandemic, I was wrongly charged for monthly gym membership fees. You will recall that all gym membership fees were stopped in April 2020 on account of the pandemic and the Governor shutting down all gyms. During this time, I contacted NYSC to confirm that it was not charging membership fees. As was the case with a number of NYSC members, those memberships rightfully ended. NYSC was not providing the service for which it could charge membership fees. Also during this time, towards the end of 2020, NYSC filed for bankruptcy and my local NYSC closed down. However, in October 2020, I started to be charged membership fees by a company called TMPL. I did not know TMPL and certainly did not consent to or sign any contract with TMPL. TMPL arbitrarily and wrongfully started to charge $89.99 from October 2020. This is unlawful and completely immoral, especially given the adverse financial impact caused by the pandemic and the financial strain faced by many. I tried to contact a number of people to have the membership cancelled and to have these membership dues reimbursed. No one was available, and I kept getting the run-around every time I called people telling him me I needed to speak to TMPL a company I had no relationship with. In January 2021, I had a life-threatening condition and was in hospital for a period of time eventually requiring surgery. TMPL kept billing me. To make matters worse, In February 2021, the month of my surgery, TMPL arbitrarily increased its unauthorized charges to $94.04. In June 2021, finally, I reached someone at TMPL to cancel the unauthorized fees being debited from my account monthly without his permission. The fees wrongly charged total $830.16. I need this reimbursed.
