In January 2024 I had a change of billing date done so a payment would have sufficient funds for it. I was assured that it was changed. Two days before the prior billing date I received a notice that it was being pulled on the 23rd. I called Sunlight Financial and was told that was wrong and it wouldn't be pulled out till the 25th and to ignore that notice. On the 23rd it was pulled and the next day I received an overdraft notice from my bank. I called Sunlight Financial and was assured that I would receive the overdraft fee back from them. They forgot to remove the previous pull date. I sent the notice from the bank and waited a week and not hearing back from them, I called them. They said that wasn't good enough. They needed a copy of my bank statement. I had to wait 3 weeks for the new bank statement printout that had the transaction on it. I then sent that in an waited about 10 days and called to find out what was taking so long. They said it was kicked back out and they had to escalate it to a supervisor to sign it. I waited about 10 more days and they had no word on when it would be done. I waited another week and still no word. I called and they said that if I didn't hear back by 2 more days then call again. I missed the call back from the supervisor, so I called back and was told that the bank statement reflected a credit back from overdraft fee and it was denied. I told them that was from 2 weeks earlier and they said that I had send proof from the bank. I told them that I would and being that they were giving me such hassles and taking over 3 months to get this cleared up that I would be filing complaints with several agencies on them. I still haven't heard back from them and it has been almost another week. Please help me out with this refund due me and put a warning or reduce their rating for **** am a senior citizen and don't need this stress. Thank you. *********************.

Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint by ******************* (Borrower).

The Borrower alleges that she has been unable to obtain a refund for alleged overdraft fees. The Borrowers account was reviewed and there are no overdraft fees charged to the Borrower from the servicer. The images provided by the Borrower reflect that her banking institution charged the overdraft fees, not her lender. If the Borrower has concerns regarding the assessment of the overdraft fee, she should contact her bank. Please note that on January 17, 2024, the Borrower changed her monthly automatic payment (ACH) date on file from the 23rd of each month to the 25th of each month with the servicer.

My son was solicited at his home for solar panels in June 2019. At the time he was legally blind on kidney dialysis , fighting type 1 diabetes and heart disease. Prior to him passing away in Feb 2023 I came across papers of his solar panels and realized my son was told lies about the benefits of getting solar panels, and my question was how did a disabled man with very little money qualify for a solar panel loan for 28k and a poor credit score? That was almost 5 years ago and what is still owed on his solar panels is more than the original loan amount. How is that? I recently found out about the *** which I know was never told to my son because he thought if he failed on a payment that they would come get the panels, but instead they attached a *** on his home. Im 79 years old and now battling this mess of lies, and the fact they took sole advantage of a man that was legally blind but had him sign a contract?!? These people need to release *** liens and be force to pay people for pain and suffering over such grief. And now this loan is with technology credit union and I want sunlight financial to take back the loan they fraudulently funded to my son with no credit report or wage verification, and a signature by a legally blind man. I have proof of his health during 2019 and a letter indicating his blindness. He lost his license due to his loss of vision but can sign a contract and read the fine print about the ***.

Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint by ********************* (Complainant).

As background, the Complainant's son ***************************** ("Borrower")entered into a ************ System Long-Term Loan Agreement and Promissory Note with ***************** Union (Lender) on June 28, 2019 (Loan Agreement).  The Borrower entered into a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation Agreement with Shine Solar, LLC (Installer) on June 28, 2019 (Installation Agreement) for the installation of a solar system (System). At all times, the only parties to the Loan Agreement were Borrower and Lender, and the only parties to the Installation Agreement were the Borrower and the Installer.  It is important to understand that Sunlight is not a party to either the Loan Agreement or the Installation Agreement.

The Complainant asserts that Sunlight funded a loan for which the Borrower was not qualified, that Sunlight failed to advise the Borrower that a UCC lien would be placed on his home, that the current loan balance exceeds the original loan amount, and that the Borrower was lied to regarding the benefits of going solar. Sunlight is sympathetic to the Borrowers loss, but disagrees with her assertions.  As an initial matter, applicants who use Sunlight's technology platform to apply for credit are considered based on the relevant lenders credit criteria. The Borrower was approved for credit on June 28, 2019 pursuant to the Lender's credit criteria based on information he provided to the Installers sales representative.

Next, Sunlight had no evidence that the Borrower suffered from any medical conditions or blindness prior to receiving this complaint. We request the Complainant to please provide evidence of the severity of Borrowers blindness so that we may further investigate the claims and the interaction that ******** had with the Installer. Sunlight has also asked the Installer to provide evidence of their interactions with the Borrower and their knowledge of his medical conditions.

Continuing, the Loan Agreement confirms on pages 4-5 that the Lenders security interest is in the System itself, and not the "real property" or the home. A fixture filing was placed on the System and as a result may appear on the title for the home.

Finally, the loan balance exceeds the loan amount due to the daily accrual of interest after the loan booked on September 6, 2019.  The original loan amount has not been altered.  ******** made 32 regular payments towards his loan until December 5, 2022 using ACH payments issued to the Lender.  ****** informed Sunlight that the System was deactivated on March 30, 2023 due to nonpayment after his death on February 15, 2023. The account charged off shortly thereafter on May 26, 2023.  As a result, the System has not produced electricity for the past year due to the deactivated status.

Neither Sunlight nor the Lender received a complaint from the Borrower concerning his System's performance or objections to the monthly loan amount, indicating that the Borrower was aware of the loan and the Systems performance.  The Complainant may work with the Lender to show her ownership of the home and the System and bring the Borrowers account into good standing so that the System may be reactivated.

If the Complainant has any additional questions or concerns, she may contact Sunlight at ************.

Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to submit a response to this complaint filed by ************************* (Borrower).

As background, the Borrower entered into a ************ System Long-Term Loan Agreement and Promissory Note with *********** Bank (Lender or CRB) executed on May 18, 2018 (Loan Agreement or Loan). As a ********** chartered, FDIC-insured bank, CRB offers credit products through its strategic marketplace lending platform partners, including Sunlight, pursuant to its bank charter and Section 27 of the **************************** Act (64 Stat. 873). CRB originates such loans as the lender of record in accordance with its credit criteria and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Sunlight receives and facilitates borrower credit applications on behalf of CRB and other lenders and oversees third-party servicers that directly service borrower loans.

The Borrower also assented to and entered a Home Improvement Contract with ** ************ LLC LLC (Installer)on May 31, 2018 (Installation Agreement) for the installation of a solar system (System).

The Borrower alleges that Sunlight refused to provide the lending criteria used to assess a loan assumption application and that Sunlight refused to transfer his call to a manager for assistance. As an initial matter,Sunlight does not block borrowers from speaking with managers; however, managers are not always available at the time an individual borrower requests to speak with one. Sunlight apologizes if the Borrower has had a negative customer service experience in this regard, and to ensure appropriate action was taken, Sunlight will investigate the Borrowers claim and provide remediation as necessary.

With regard to the loan assumption criteria, Sunlight states that it is not the Lender and does not set the requirements or standards for the approval or denial of a loan assumption application by a prospective purchaser (Prospective Purchaser). The Loan Agreement with the Lender provides that it is the Lenders expectation that the loan holder or home purchaser will pay off the Loan in the event of a home sale. It has been 7 months( July 17th 2023) and all I have is decorative solar panels on my roof from ****** Solar financed by Sunlight Financial. I was supposed to have solar panels installed on my roof and connect to the *************** with a bi-directional meter. Every time I call ****** solar they tell me they will call me back but never do. I have also called Sunlight Financial and they have also not called me back. ****** Solar did not complete the city permits before beginning work and have still not completed the permitting process. Sunlight Financial has been made aware that the solar panels do not work and have not offered me any resolution other than paying the $230 monthly solar loan payment ($48,811 in total). A Sunlight representative told me problems happen and I should try to understand. That is a great point except when its been 7 months and no one can communicate to me what that "problem" is. All the information I have gathered is from me emailing the city energy department. ****** and Sunlight Financial have "zero" clue what the status of my install is. The electrician from ****** Solar who installed the electrical part of the installation disconnected my dishwasher from the breaker box( accidently I'm assuming) and I ended up replacing the dishwasher, $600, because I thought it randomly broke. My solar loan was also accruing interest during the first 2 months after the contract was signed during a supposed "grace ******* so right now my loan is over $49,000 because no principle has been paid the entire time while interest was being added. This company has so many red flags over the past 7 months I hope someone out there is looking into this company and their business practices because it's **** near criminal.

As background, the Borrower entered into a Loan Agreement and Promissory Note with *********** Bank (Lender or CRB) executed on December 5, 2023 (Loan Agreement or Loan). The Borrower also assented to and entered a Custom Home Remodeling Agreement with West Shore Home (Contractor) on December 5, 2023 (Contractor Agreement) for home remodeling projects (Projects).

The Borrower alleges that she was unaware of the interest rate on her loan that created higher than expected monthly payments. Sunlight refers the Borrower to the Summary of Key Loan Terms (Key Terms), attached as page 1 of her Loan Agreement, which clearly articulates the requested loan amount, the APR, the length of the loan term and the amount of each monthly payment. The Key Terms also show the above information with a .49% reduction in APR if the Borrower chooses to participle in ACH payments. In addition to the Loan Agreement, the repayment terms for the Borrowers Loan are set forth in the Truth In Lending Act Disclosure section of the Welcome Letter from Sunlight, dated December 19, 2023, and the Welcome Email from Sunlight, dated December 14, 2023. Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint by ***************************** (Borroweror ******************).

As background, the Borrower entered into a ************ System Long-Term Loan Agreement and Promissory Note with *********** Bank (Lender or CRB)executed on September 6, 2019 (Loan Agreement or Loan). Sunlight receives and facilitates borrower credit applications on behalf of *********** Bank and other lenders and oversees third-party servicers that directly service borrower loans.

The Borrower also assented to and entered a Property Improvement Agreement on September 6, 2019 (Installation Agreement) with Modern Mill  (Installer) for the installation of a solar system (System).

The Borrower submitted a complaint stating that Sunlight would not honor a promise to assist in fixing the System.  As background, it should be noted that Sunlights role is to facilitate the loan process.  The Installation Agreement with the Installer contains warranty information and the Installer is responsible for honoring the warranty and all related claims. Sunlight is not a party to that agreement.  Unfortunately, the Installer went out of business on or around February 9, 2023.  All manufacturer warranty claims should be addressed to the inverter manufacturer SolarEdge (SolarEdge).

Nonetheless,a Sunlight Relationship Manager contacted the Borrower in May 2023 and agreed to send a third-party company, NSIS Solar (NSIS), to complete a system assessment to confirm if there were issues with the System.  The system assessment was done at Sunlights expense, despite Sunlight having no contractual obligation to do so.  NSIS completed a site visit on October 2,2023 and confirmed that no issues were found with the System, but that a cell kit replacement would be needed to record monitoring data.  The Borrower will need to contact SolarEdge regarding obtaining a new cell kit as they are the responsible party.

Finally, the Borrower alleges that Sunlight refuses to allow him to speak with a manager.  This is inaccurate as a Relationship Manager spoke with the Borrower on May 30, 2023 and August 28, 2023.  The Relationship Manager also called and left voicemails for the Borrower on May 22, 2023, May 24, 2023, and August 23,2023.  As a courtesy, Sunlight also approved a 90-day payment deferral on January 16, 2024 to alleviate the Borrowers financial stress while he works with SolarEdge.  As it stands, Sunlight has gone well beyond contractual obligations to assist the Borrower.

As background, the Borrower previously filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on February 13, 2024, to which Sunlight responded on March 12, 2024. In that response, Sunlight communicated to the Borrower that he needed to contact the manufacturer of his solar system inverter, SolarEdge, to request a cell kit replacement for his solar system.  This recommendation is based upon a system assessment conducted by Sunlight's partner, **************** ****************** ("NSIS"), on October 2,2023. NSIS reported that the system was producing without issues, but that SolarEdge is the party that needs to provide a new cell kit. Again, Sunlight respectfully recommends the same course of action to remedy the Borrowers issues and obtain a new cell kit from SolarEdge as are the responsible party.Unfortunately, there are no additional steps that can be taken by Sunlight to resolve the Borrowers issues with the solar system.

Was trying to sell my home and the buyer applied to assume the loan and was denied. Upon contacting the company to see why they would give me a reason other than they did not meet the criteria to assume the loan. When I asked what the criteria was they would not tell me what it was. Would not give me any answers. The buyers qualify for a 450k home loan but not to assume a 31k loan. Makes no sense and the company won't give me answers.

Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight)takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint by ******************* (Borrower).
As background, the Borrower entered into a ************ System Long-Term Loan Agreement and Promissory Note with *********** Bank (Lender or CRB) executed on February 28, 2022, and as amended on December 6, 2022 (collectively the Loan Agreement or Loan). As a ********** chartered, FDIC-insured bank, CRB offers credit products through its strategic marketplace lending platform partners, including Sunlight, pursuant to its bank charter and Section 27 of the **************************** Act (64 Stat. 873).CRB originates such loans as the lender of record in accordance with its credit criteria and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Sunlight receives and facilitates borrower credit applications on behalf of *********** Bank and other lenders and oversees third-party servicers that directly service borrower loans.

The Borrower also entered into a ************ System Purchase and Installation Agreement on February 28, 2022, as amended on March 2, 2022, and as further amended on December 6, 2022 (collectively the Installation Agreement) with Vision Solar LLC (Installer) for the installation of a solar system (System).

The Borrower alleges that Sunlight breached our contract and improperly paid the now bankrupt Installer prior to their completion of the System installation. Additionally, the Borrower claims that the System does not produce energy, her electric bill is the same and the roof is leaking. As an initial matter, Sunlight and the Borrower do not have any written contract, thus Sunlight could not have breached any contract with the Borrower. Sunlight investigated the Borrowers other claims and states that the System achieved permission to operate (PTO) status on March 22, 2023, with the utility company, which enables interconnection of the System with the grid.Upon achieving PTO and interconnection permission, the Installer reported completion of the project and Sunlight disbursed their final payment. Accordingly,Sunlight properly paid the Installer based on completion of the project and the Systems achievement of PTO status. No additional communication was received from the Borrower regarding the System or its production until January 8, ****,almost 10 full months after the project was completed. Further, the Borrower made timely payments on the Loan during this 10-month time period.

Upon contacting Sunlight on January 8, ****, the Borrower reported that the Installer had returned to the property approximately three (3) weeks prior (est. mid-December 2023) and allegedly informed the Borrower that one of the solar panels was not connected property and that they should have a new roof installed. Sunlight has no record of this site visit by the Installer and no information whatsoever regarding replacement of any panels by the Installer or otherwise.

Regarding the System production and continued receipt of an electrical bill, Sunlight states that nothing in the Loan Agreement or Installation Agreement represents in any fashion that installation of the System would eliminate a borrowers electric bill. Further, System production reports obtained from SolarEdge, the manufacturer of certain component parts of the Borrowers System, illustrate that the System is producing electricity, albeit at potentially lower levels than anticipated. As such, Sunlight recommends that the Borrower contact SolarEdge for servicing of the System to remediate any potential production issues at  **************.

The Borrower also reports for the first time that her roof is leaking despite installation completion back in March 2023. The amount of time between installation and the reporting of the alleged leak is significant and no information was provided to support the claim that the leak was caused by the installation of the System over 10 months ago.   As there is nothing to suggest that the leak is related to the System installation, Sunlight suggests that the Borrower file a claim with her homeowners insurance company.

If the Borrower has any additional questions or concerns, she may contact Sunlight at ************.
