I paid for one year with the New York Sun for $120. In May 2024, I cancelled it. I also unsubscribed from the daily drip emails. Last week, I get charged again, $120. I completed a ticket for customer service and the call was scheduled today for 7:45. They snubbed me. No call. As a former card-carrying **** journalist (****************************************), this kind of "lackadaisical" approach to customer service is simply inexcusable. Regretfully, my bank will now force the chargeback.Initial Complaint

I saw an advertisement on the internet for a 30 day trial subscription to the **** Sun newspaper.I took the trial subscription and started receiving daily emails of the newspaper. Before the 30 days was up, I emailed the paper to cancel my subscription, which they did. On 1-8-2025 my charge card was bill for $120.00 by the newspaper. I have not been receiving the daily emails since I cancelled the subscription. I have been unsuccessful in trying to contact the newspaper to have them cancel this unjustified charge.Customer Answer

I started a trial subscription with the ****** and was charged $120 for a year's subscription at the end of the trial period, on 12/1/14. My mistake - I missed the deadline to cancel. The following day I put an order to cancel the subscription in order to make sure it did not automatically renew next year. Now, I can neither access the current subscription for which I was charged, nor have I been refunded the $120. Either give me access to my annual subscription for which I have paid, or refund my $120. Several emails to the NY Sun **************** have gone unanswered.Customer Answer

My husband, ****** H. *****, has early Alzheimer's and last year he purchased a trial subscription to The New York Sun. On August 23, 2024 the New York Sun automatically charged $120.00 for an annual subscription that was not authorized. He never received an email notice or phone call that this would happen. We have tried to reach their customer service with no luck. Although they clearly state on their dashboard that the subscription can be cancelled at any time there is no way to reach them. Only "members" which he is not can request a call back. This has caused my husband quite a bit of anxiety as he is not able to cancel. Please check into this for us and ask them to cancel his subscription which is under his email: ******************* Thank you so much for your assistance. ******* ***** - ************ - ****************Initial Complaint

I was unable to use my card because my bank had stopped my ability to use it due to possible fraud charge. I looked at my bank billing statement and noticed that my card had been charged $120 by the New York Sun. I had signed up a ***** a month subscription with no intention of a full years subscription of $120. With no notice, my card was suddenly charged $120 and I cant get a hold of anyone from the ******** Son to cancel my subscription even though ****** says they would happily cancel my subscription.Initial Complaint

6/24/24 ****** charged without authorization Impossible to get in touch with them to cancel, although I did not sign up for next year. I know they will say it was automatic renewal. Last year I spent a lot of time trying to cancel with no success and forgot about it until the 120 appeared on my latest Amex bill. I emailed saying I wanted to cancel with no response, and calling is impossibleInitial Complaint

First contact was by computer for a trial subscription on June 21, 2023. Instead I was signed up for a regular $120.00/year subscription with no notice and I didn't know it until I found my credit card had been accessed and billed as of June 21, 2024. There has been no response to my phone calls. Indeed, getting in touch with the ** Sun at ************ has been impossible. All I want at this point is my money back and a cancellation.
