On February 24, 2025, I called the business WeWork to learn about their day pass. The phone agent stated I could sign-up for a day pass at the front desk. When I arrived, I had trouble entering as I wasn't aware there was a doorbell. Another ****** behind the glass door proceeded to yell repeatedly at me to use the doorbell. As a concerned customer, I informed the front desk once I entered that an alarm was going off by the door, which was distracting. I asked the first ****** I saw behind the counter about their day pass, but they appeared irritated and unfriendly for no clear reason. Then, the "manager* *** instructed that I download the WeWork app; however, my phone wasn't bringing up the app when I scanned their QR code and my App Store strangely wasn't working without Wifi. For these reasons, I had delays signing up for the day pass. Despite the obvious technical issues, I remained calm and communicative with the staff. The "manager" **** however, was extremely unreasonable and falsely stated that I was "not being polite" because they felt I wasn't letting them help when in fact I was struggling to troubleshoot the Wifi issue and didn't have the app ready for them to provide further assistance at the time they were demanding to see my phone. I communicated these issues to them, but they persisted that I wasn't cooperating. The manager wanted to see my phone while I was entering my Apple ID password, and then called me impolite for troubleshooting the Wifi on my phone, which is not normally how customer service treats guests. They were also irritated when I simply asked what information they were storing from my driver's license. The manager was unusually impatient, unhelpful and wrongfully accusatory. In addition, they refused to directly answer my question about which app I should download, as two WeWork apps were available. The "manager* *** and their false statement made about me in front of other guests was unprofessional, untrue, unnecessary and impolite.Initial Complaint

In 2022 and 2023 I came to ********* for 2 months and signed up for a Wework monthly plan with anytime cancelation. Everything went very well. In 2024, I came to ********* for 2 weeks and again signed up for a monthly plan but when I went to cancel it, they said that I signed up for an annual no-cancellation plan. Since I was in the city only for 2 weeks, there was no reason for me to join such a long commitment plan.Wework refuses to cancel my plan and charges me around $200 every month, even though I haven't used their service for 2 months.Customer Answer

Heres a draft for your BBB complaint:---**Subject:** Complaint Regarding Incorrect Membership Charge and Cancellation **To Whom It May Concern,**I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved issue with WeWork. I purchased a membership that, upon activation, did not apply to the location where I was working. I promptly opened a case with WeWork to address the mismatch, hoping to resolve the situation amicably.Instead of a resolution, WeWork canceled my membership without providing a suitable solution and still charged me for the service. This charge was unwarranted, as the membership was ineffective for my needs and canceled by WeWorks decision.I have attempted to reach out multiple times but have not received a satisfactory response. I am requesting a full refund for the charges associated with this membership and an acknowledgment of the mishandling of my case.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Customer Answer

Paid for business address and mail forwarding subscription starting Nov 13 2023. Got documents for mail forwarding from **** November 14th 2023 and handed in directly to the Boston WeWork office on school street for an immediate start on mail forwarding. This is incredibly important information as it shows my immediate need to start receiving mail as I am a medical company with strict filing deadlines. At this point I thought the process was complete and so I created a case to see why I wasn't yet receiving mail as it was something I was paying for. I received an email in Feb 23rd of 2024 from ***** ****** stating that he had not yet received the Notary paperwork for mail forwarding... So I sent the paperwork over on Feb 27th and followed up after not receiving confirmation on March 5th... Crickets... ***** had not responded until April 29th when he then confirmed that it was all set. June 28th I have to reach out yet again as I have not received any mail yet and am told simply... there is no mail for which I can attest was a complete lie. I had been awaiting tax filings and compliance paperwork for nearly 6 months while paying for this service through wework. Unbelievably unprofessional and incredibly costly experience as missing filing deadlines cost thousands of dollars in late fees. After almost a year of paying for this service I have only received 2 shipments of mail all of which were spam documents. I do not recommend this service to any legitimate business.Initial Complaint

I am writing to file a formal complaint against WeWork due to an issue regarding the cancellation of my membership and subsequent billing. I contacted WeWork in mid-July to cancel my membership. During the phone call, a representative confirmed that my membership was successfully cancelled and that I would not incur further charges.Despite this confirmation, I was dismayed to discover that I was billed for the month of ******. This charge was unexpected and unauthorized, as my membership should have been terminated per the confirmation I received in July.I have attempted to resolve this matter directly with WeWork, but I have not received a satisfactory response or refund. This experience has caused unnecessary stress and financial inconvenience.I kindly request the BBBs assistance in resolving this matter. I wish to receive a full refund for the ****** billing and an assurance that my membership is indeed cancelled with no further obligations.Initial Complaint

WeWork has made it extremely hard to cancel my membership, even after they confirmed the cancellation. I had a promo deal of $99/m for three months, and before the third month was over I cancelled on time. They do not allow you to turn off "Auto Pay" on their website (the toggle just doesn't work). They don't have an option to cancel a membership other than emailing them.On July 5, ****** from WeWork confirmed my cancellation:I'm sorry to hear that you have decided to cancel your membership with us. I hope that you have enjoyed your time as a WeWork member.I have taken the necessary steps to cancel your membership. Please note that all cancellations are effective at the end of the month. As I have canceled your membership today, your account will be active until the end of this month.--However, at the start of August, I was charged $299, and have not received a response to any of my emails requesting a refund and actual cancellation.Attached evidence includes:- WeWork's confirmation of cancellation on July 5 via email - A reddit thread showing users with the same promotion having issues cancelling - WeWork's completely blank "Refunds" help page - The invoice that I got charged even after I cancelledCustomer Answer

- I paid for a month-to-month membership at the office company, WeWork.- I wanted to cancel my membership and no longer be billed by them. The only way to cancel the membership was by phone, which I did multiple times, I received multiple support tickets that confirmed cancellation of my membership and have written confirmation that my card would no longer be charged.- Despite this they continue to charge my credit card, most recently today, December 27th, 2023 for the amount of $323.92 - These are fraudulent charges as I am not using their facilities and have requested cancellation of my membership on multiple occasions, and have written confirmation that no further billing would take place. I am attempting to get these fraudulent charges removed from my credit card, and pursue civil penalties against the company for harassing me by making it impossible to cancel my membership, despite repeated attempts, and constantly trying to charge my card for services that I am no longer using and no longer want.I have filed multiple support tickets requesting cancellation of my membership:#******** #******** #******** #******** Among others. I received written confirmation that my membership was finally cancelled:"YourWeWorkAll Access Plus membership plan is canceled andweare internally working to waive your December invoice which is outstanding. you will not be charged going forward as your membership is canceled."Still, they charged me $323.92 today, and will likely continue to do so unless there is 3rd party interventionInitial Complaint

Wework failed to provide me with the 15% promotion offer off the $299 monthly rate for 6 months of its All Access membership for new clients, which is redeemable between June 1, 2023 through October 3, 2023. I become a new client on June 30, 2023, after visiting 4 ***** locations and being quoted the 15% promotion by all community managers and the Wework website. On July 2, 2023, my credit card was billed with a duplicate charge and the 15% promotion was not applied. I called customer service and created support tickets on July 3, 2023, and days later spoke to the community managers about the incorrect billing. Subsequently Wework only reversed the duplicate credit card charge, but did not honor the 15% promotion for new clients. I continued to contact customer support to no avail. In addition, on July 3, 2023, when I tried to book a desk in 2 separate locations in ************ the app was not working and I was unable to reserve a desk. (There were no community managers working in those facilities on July 3, 2023). I asked Wework to refund me for 1 day I was unable to use the facilities and so far my the refund has not been applied to my account.Customer Answer

At this time, I have been contacted directly by The We Company regarding complaint ID ********, however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I was contacted via email by Wework on August 13, 2023. The company agreed to provide a 15% promotion discount to my account for ***** ************* August and asked me to amend my contract for the months going forward so the 15% promotion discount could be applied. However, because Wework announced in August 2023 its ability to continue as an ongoing concern, I declined to accept Wework's offer to amend my membership. Instead, I decided to end my membership effective August 31, 2023, and submitted the appropriate form Wework asked me to complete. I am waiting to make sure Wework does indeed end my membership and does not bill my credit card for September 2023.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
