Many consumers are telling BBB about the difficult process and unsatisfactory results from trying to opt out of personal information being published by the company. In April 2019, BBB requested the company's voluntary cooperation in address the issues identified in the Pattern. As of 4/05/2019, BeenVerified responded to BBB to say it has been working to improve the language highlighting its monthly subscription options and sign-up flows, as well increasing opt-out mechanisms and including additional procedures to address customer dissatisfaction.

      I got signed up once by mistake possibly of my own doing but mistake all the same. They refunded and closed my account or so I thought. Today they reopened my account and charged me I once again call and demanded refund which I got. I just find it odd that I've now closed the same account twice. How many people do they bill erroneously?

      I signed up for Been Verified service. I read the notice that the service must be cancelled or your account will continue to be billed. I used the service in August 2022.I called and cancelled the service the same month. I was asked why I was canceling, was it because of the automated billing> I said yes. I thought the service was canceled. I continued to be billed, and did not catch that it was being withdrawn from my account until June 2024. I contacted Been Verified and the service has been canceled, as far as I know. I was given a conformation number this time. I would not have known about the question, Why are you canceling?, if I did not call at that time. I feel I was scamed.I read their new legal notice. It was written in September 2022. If don't get compensation, I hope people will read about their shady practice.

      I canceled the service the same month I tried it. In their own words in the response you have to cancel to get a refund. I was given a small sum for the over billing. Not a full refund.

      We take your concerns very seriously, more importantly, we are investigating your contact to us in August of 2022.

      I conducted a thorough investigation of our phone records including our *** (Interactive Voice Response).  
      I do apologize as we were not able to locate any *** interaction to match the details provided.

      We just recently updated our *** to inquire about the reason for canceling as we want to learn how we can improve our service. 
      In 2022 the *** did not ask customers for the reason why they were canceling, we just recently updated that feature approximately 6 months ago.

      Please note that we searched the entire month of August in 2022.  
      BeenVerified would like to continue our investigation on this matter and look forward to more detail regarding that interaction such as the phone number used and approximate time the *** call was made.

      In addition, please note that our system notes every call or contact with our *** as well in each customers account. 
      Sadly we did not see any interaction noted on the account in August of 2022 or thereafter until recently when the account was canceled July 2024.

      Our records indicate the first contact regarding this account was 07/09/2024. 
      After further review, the account was created on 08/16/2022 with our upfront subscription of $22.86, as we are not able to confirm a record of the cancellation. 
      Therefore ,the account continued to renew to the monthly subscription. 

      We completely understand your concerns regarding the account. ********************** wants our customers to be aware of the billing prior to creating an account with us.

      On 02 July 2024, I realized that BeenVerified had regularly charged my credit card approximately $48 on four seperate occasions. My credit card logged this as a "subscription" service. I have never subscribed to a service by BeenVerified, much less heard of the company.I reached out to customer service at ********************** on 02 July 2024, and they had no record of my email address or name on any account. They proceeded to ask for further identifying information, which I provided (to include a screenshot from my credit card statement of the charges). As of 10 July 2024, there has been no resolution; only that BeenVerified is "working on the issue".

      On July 2, 2024, I downloaded an application called "Mobile Number Tracker" from the ****** Play Store. I signed up for a 7-day trial for $1.00. When I tried to cancel the subscription, it did not appear in my subscriptions, and I couldn't find any record of the original charge to look for cancellation information.. After some searching, I found an email address ************************* and sent a request to cancel my subscription. However, it appears that the phone number provided is not valid. I visited a website that was supposed to provide a free phone lookup service. The first screen displayed a notice from Been-Verified, which I didn't notice until the bottom of the next page. The example I am using for this complaint is not the original number I searched. A few months ago, I ran my own phone number, and it came back as belonging to someone else: a person ********************** In ******, **. even though I have had this number since 2005, and I reported that this was incorrect months sgo but it has not been corrected.. On July 8, a transaction for $26.88 cleared my debit card account, but there was no phone number listed with the transaction. Despite the email address being *********************** and the application being called "Mobile Number Tracker," the transaction was under Been-verified. This seems misleading, false advertising, and designed to make it difficult to cancel.Please see the attached screenshots for reference.

      On 4/13/24 I subscribed to Been Verified with understanding I could cancel anytime. I was charged $32.26 on credit card on 4/13/24 and on 5/12/24 for total of $64.52. I want to cancel my membership but I'm unable to log in to do so. It's the weekend now so can't call customer service. I even wrote down my password when I signed up but it's not working so I chose "forgot password" on 2 separate days. They supposedly sent link to my email to change password but it's not in my inbox or Spam folder. This business operates like a scam! I would like one month's refund and a cancellation of my membership.
