    BBB files indicate a Pattern of Complaints concerning BeenVerified's information publishing and customer service practices. Many consumers are telling BBB about the difficult process and unsatisfactory results from trying to opt out of personal information being published by the company. In April 2019, BBB requested the company's voluntary cooperation in address the issues identified in the Pattern. As of 4/05/2019, BeenVerified responded to BBB to say it has been working to improve the language highlighting its monthly subscription options and sign-up flows, as well increasing opt-out mechanisms and including additional procedures to address customer dissatisfaction.

    As of May 2024, complaints filed by consumers with BBB against BeenVerified are still alleging surprise charges by the company from an automatic conversion to a paid subscription or a service the consumers claim not to have signed up for, as well as a lack of cooperation with information opt-outs and cancellation/refund requests.

      On 02 July 2024, I realized that BeenVerified had regularly charged my credit card approximately $48 on four seperate occasions. My credit card logged this as a "subscription" service. I have never subscribed to a service by BeenVerified, much less heard of the company.I reached out to customer service at ********************** on 02 July 2024, and they had no record of my email address or name on any account. They proceeded to ask for further identifying information, which I provided (to include a screenshot from my credit card statement of the charges). As of 10 July 2024, there has been no resolution; only that BeenVerified is "working on the issue".

      On July 2, 2024, I downloaded an application called "Mobile Number Tracker" from the ****** Play Store. I signed up for a 7-day trial for $1.00. When I tried to cancel the subscription, it did not appear in my subscriptions, and I couldn't find any record of the original charge to look for cancellation information.. After some searching, I found an email address ************************* and sent a request to cancel my subscription. However, it appears that the phone number provided is not valid. I visited a website that was supposed to provide a free phone lookup service. The first screen displayed a notice from Been-Verified, which I didn't notice until the bottom of the next page. The example I am using for this complaint is not the original number I searched. A few months ago, I ran my own phone number, and it came back as belonging to someone else: a person ********************** In ******, **. even though I have had this number since 2005, and I reported that this was incorrect months sgo but it has not been corrected.. On July 8, a transaction for $26.88 cleared my debit card account, but there was no phone number listed with the transaction. Despite the email address being *********************** and the application being called "Mobile Number Tracker," the transaction was under Been-verified. This seems misleading, false advertising, and designed to make it difficult to cancel.Please see the attached screenshots for reference.

      On 4/13/24 I subscribed to Been Verified with understanding I could cancel anytime. I was charged $32.26 on credit card on 4/13/24 and on 5/12/24 for total of $64.52. I want to cancel my membership but I'm unable to log in to do so. It's the weekend now so can't call customer service. I even wrote down my password when I signed up but it's not working so I chose "forgot password" on 2 separate days. They supposedly sent link to my email to change password but it's not in my inbox or Spam folder. This business operates like a scam! I would like one month's refund and a cancellation of my membership.

      I needed one VIN searched. I looked and found them. In their FAQ it outlined that if you needed a single ViN you should make an account, use the trial, and immediately upon finishing your search you should email to cancel your request. I did these steps all on 6/12/24. On 6/18/24 i noticed a pending charge of *****. I then sent an email regarding this, but have yet to hear a response, it appears they are easily able to just ignore requests even if the requests themselves are in the exact format they requested. I now have STILL not heard back, and do not know if I will end up charged again next month. Is there no way to get out from under these crooks?

      You can contact us to cancel at any time, and will not be billed for your next billing cycle.

      We were able to locate your request for cancellation and refund after the Trial had ended.

      I did not authorize payment to this business and they have taken money out of my account under the name "***********". I have never received a billing statement via email or in the mail. I called this company to resolve this distressing event. I spoke with the representative ******, who falsely verified an incorrect email address and gave me all the account information regarding this error. It was recently brought to my attention that this occurred when I attempted to close an account I thought had a 0 balance. ****** exclaimed from that the email address she had on file, was the email address that created the account. I reviewed all of my email addresses and was unable to find where this account received any billing statements via email. I did not authorize any of these purchases from my account. The following charges were processed on my card ending 1191. Jun-******* 23-Jul68.22 23-Aug68.22 23-Sep68.22 23-Oct68.22 23-Nov52 23-Dec28 24-Jan60.6 ***** ************ only refunded me 4 transactions that totaled $150.00. I am requesting they return the remainder of the balance that they created. I would have never authorized transactions from this account in that amount because this is not a card I utilize on a regular basis.
