YSG installed my solar in December of 2014. On March 9, 2015 the ******************** found there was an issue with the installation. So the project was not approved (closed out) by the ********************.Without that I cannot receive my property tax exemption.Since January of 2020 I have reached out to YSG with over 100 e-mails (saved in a separate folder) and, a few phone calls.During the past 3 years and 8 months I was given numerous assurances that it would be approved before March 15th each year. Buildings ***** requires it to be completed by that date for it to take effect on the July property tax statement. Each year Im given excuses. At one point I was told that paperwork was filed with the ********************.I called buildings and they told me that no paperwork was filed!Eventually paperwork was filed and a rep from YSG came to my premise and went up on the roof.Over time I did some digging on the ******************** website and was able to figure out that the problem was in the sub panel (not the roof). I informed YSG of this ( why they didnt know is beyond me) and they replied thats really great to hear. I was also informed that they need to find a electrician and asked if I have any local contacts. So I hired an electrician out of my own pocket. When I informed YSG of this they replied Thats great news! We are working on obtaining a tracking number from ********************.I was told in an email back in January that a tracking number was applied for.Upon more investigation on my part it should only take 2-3 days to obtain one and that an expediter can get one on the spot. Majority of the time I am the one that initiates contact, even though the emails I get from them Indicates that they will update me once they have more information.Very, very, rare that YSG reaches out to me.At this point YSG should be able to set up a re-inspection with ********************* ASAP and have a representative from YSG on scene during it.

      Dear Better business bureau

I would like to express our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced in the process of obtaining your property tax exemption after the installation of your solar system in December 2014. Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and we deeply regret any frustration this situation has caused. We have carefully reviewed your complaint and would like to provide you with a comprehensive update on the situation. It is important to note that our commitment to resolving this matter has remained unwavering, and we genuinely appreciate your patience throughout this challenging process.

The primary issue in your case stemmed from challenges we faced with a third-party expeditor who was responsible for handling the necessary paperwork and approvals from the ********************* Unfortunately, this expeditor faced unforeseen difficulties and went on hiatus, causing significant delays in obtaining the necessary permits and approvals.
Our team at YSG recognizes the critical importance of ensuring that your solar project receives the proper approvals from the ******************** in a timely manner to enable you to benefit from the property tax exemption.

We are pleased to inform you that due to the delay in obtaining the approvals, your abatement under the Inflation Reduction Act has increased. This will result in more significant savings for you once the property tax exemption is granted. As part of our commitment to resolving this matter promptly, we will arrange for a re-inspection with the ******************** as soon as the necessary work is completed.

Once again, we apologize for any frustration this situation has caused you, and we thank you for your patience.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The job is still not closed out. Its the same excuse that I have been receiving for over 3 years (Since I brought it to their attention).
A solar company that has a problem with an expeditor should not be having a customer suffer the consequences for more then 8 years (installed 2014).

Telling me that a re-inspection will be arranged once the proper paperwork is complete is not acceptable.

A follow up response was never received from the company. They never promptly assessed the situation as stated in their response.

After months of trying to contact the company and leaving numerous messages and emails, I finally received a call from a ******* on July 11th. Today is August 1st and I havent received a call back as of yet. *** tried calling the company numerous times since speaking to ******* on July 11th but it seemed the contact numbers I have are not in service any longer. Even the contact number on their website doesnt work, it just disconnects. Emails I leave with the company are not responded to.

At no time has anyone from the company taken the initiative to provide me with any contractors to assist with the issue.

      In YSGs response they state:

*** installed solar panels in 10/2021. It is still not connected. There finally sent an electrician to upgraded my electric panels in dec 2022. Since then no one came to connect the solar system to the new panels and organize the inspection to connect to grid. In the meantime I've been getting bills from the loan ysg organized from "service finance company". In May 2023 I submitted a complaint with sfc. *** sent me an email that they received the complaint. They have made no move to fix the issue.I would like ysg to connect the wires and have it operational. Also to reimburse me for the interest payments of the loan they organized for me to pay and for the electric bills I've been paying for the past year because they haven't done what they agreed to do.

We purchased a solar panel system from YSG Solar in the end of 2018, and in the contract it specifically states that third-party hardware comes with a manufacturer 25 year labor and parts warranty. In March of this year, that system no longer works because the inverter has a HW issue (Error message 18xB7 HW Error and no power generation at all). I have tried contacting them for over a week with no response, and this includes calling the operations team phone number that literally has a message that says someone will call back in 24 hours.I also did research into how much it will cost us to have someone else repair the system, and have been quoted a price of $1800 for the labor to repair this issue, which as stated above should be included as per the contract. I would like this to be repaired, along with some sort of proper contact information for when / if this happens again. My research suggests that the specific model SolarEdge Wave that was used has a known hardware issue, so if there is a proper replacement model from SolarEdge, that would be the repair that we would want.Attached is the proposal that was signed and that the work was performed under, with the relevant text highlighted (and pasted here as well):Major equipment as supplied by third-party(ies) manufacturer(s) shall be warranted in accordance to that manufacturer`s 25 year performance guarantee & labor warranty.

      Business response

      05/01/2023

      Dear valued customer,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand that you are experiencing an issue with your warranty, but please note that the warranty for major equipment is covered by the third-party manufacturer in accordance with their 25-year performance guarantee and labor warranty. As a contractor, we do not have the authority to make any changes to the manufacturer's warranty terms or to perform warranty repairs on their behalf.

We suggest contacting the manufacturer SolarEdge directly to address any warranty-related concerns. They will be able to provide you with the necessary information and assistance regarding the coverage and procedures for warranty repairs. SolarEdge has a service team that goes out to homeowners homes to replace faulty equipment that they have manufactured. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter.

      Best regards,

      Customer response

      05/05/2023

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      --------------------------------------

It should be noted that we have also sent a certified letter with attachments detailing all of this.  The article number for that certified letter is **** **** **** **** 8899.

      As per the contract language:

Major equipment as supplied by third-party(ies) manufacturer(s) shall be warranted in accordance to that manufacturer`s 25 year performance guarantee & labor warranty.

However, as per SolarEdge, the warranty for our inverter was set to the default 12-year replacement-only warranty.  YSGSolar failed to extend that warranty to 25 years as per the terms of the contract.  YSGSolar also failed to place any service contract or other manufacturer-supported labor or performance guarantee on the inverter.  As such, those burdens fall on YSGSolar.

We have already spoken with SolarEdge, and they have already granted us an RMA replacement for the inverter that will be arriving at our home address in the next few weeks.  We require YSGSolar to come replace this inverter (as you did not properly place the third-party service contract as detailed in our contract) or for YSGSolar to pay for the labor required to install this inverter.

Additionally, because YSGSolar did not purchase the service contract or extension of warranty from SolarEdge, those burdens again fall on YSGSolar.  YSGSolar is solely responsible for any inverter replacement that *** need to take place from years *****, along with any other performance issues and/or labor that *** occur during all remaining years as well.  Alternatively to this specific point, we will accept a fully installed compatible replacement solar inverter with a written 20-year labor and performance guarantee from SolarEdge, if that is possible, as that is what we were promised and should currently have if the contract was fulfilled properly.

Finally, the 25 year performance guarantee was not received as we have not had any power generation since March 28th, 2023. As such, the performance guarantee is also considered to be in breach. We require compensation calculated at the average rate of solar generation over the last year.

And again, all of this is also detailed in the certified letter we have sent as well.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********* and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      ------------------------

      YSG Solar,

You've literally admitted that there is a discrepancy between what you were contractually obligated to deliver to us, and what we actually received.  Your last communication literally says the following:

After reviewing the details of your contract, we acknowledge the discrepancy between the warranty terms provided and the actual warranty coverage received on the SolarEdge inverter. We apologize for any confusion this has caused.

So no, you are lying.  Your system did not have "a manufacturer warranty of 25 years for the modules and inverter."

I have multiple ways to prove you are lying.  I have screenshots of the original manufacturer warranty for the original inverter. I have the receipt from when **WE** upgraded the warranty to 25 years for parts from SolarEdge.  I have multiple screenshots talking to SolarEdge employees where they verified that they do not and have never offered a 25-year LABOR warranty.

You are lying, flat out.  You have fraudulently misrepresented the warranty status for our solar system, consistently and frequently lied in every single communication about the warranty, and have now literally backpedaled from your last communication from 8/8/2023 where you admitted that you did not deliver the promised warranty.

Again, no matter how many times you try to point the finger at SolarEdge, THE CONTRACT WAS NOT SIGNED WITH SOLAREDGE.  IT WAS SIGNED WITH YSG SOLAR.  YOU PROMISED A WARRANTY THAT YOU DID NOT DELIVER.

We are now out over two thousand dollars because of your lies and fraudulent misrepresentations, and then you have the gall to lie and backpedal on top of that. You are despicable.

      Hello Better Business Bureau,

YSG Solar understands our clients frustrations regarding the duration of their solar system being interconnected with the utility company *** ******* It has been very challenging working with the local municipalities such as the town and power company. We fully expect to resolve our client's concerns and progress the solar system closeout process. We will be drafting a resolution memo and communicating effectively with ***************

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[YSG is not being truthful in their response.  I was told by *** ** that the paper work filing is not completed and my town said that there is no record of permit filed on my behalf by YSG Solar.

YSG Solar has been dishonest every step of the way.

They have been dishonest with myself ,six other members in my community and the finance company that provided the loan for the project.  I was told by the finance company that they are unresponsive to their communications.  Why this company  is not considered a scam by the BBB is puzzling to me.

YSG has been in communication with **************. We've offered a 12 month reimbursement of his loan payments due to the delay in his system being interconnected. We still stand on that offer that was previously made.

The solar company YSG solar promised me solar installation of high-quality panels, interconnection of meters and eventually no electricity bill with solar power generation putting money back into my pocket. They referred me to a credit company that provided about $30,000 credit in 2 split amounts that was paid directly to YSG solar. I am repaying that credit account with interest. However, it is going on 3 years that I am begging this company to complete their part to properly install/interconnect the system. They made a change (putting the *** meter as base) that actually made the outcome worst. I have called them several times, no one answers the phone - I left several voice messages. When they do respond they say the same thing over and over again. I have written communication to them. They must be too busy recruiting new customers and have no problem ignoring me while I endure pain and suffering. I was promised refund of the initial bills. I am so overwhelmed with the bills that con ****** has been threatening me with disconnection notices. I am dissatisfied with YSG solar company's service. I am paying for the $30,000 dollar credit with interest plus the con ****** bills. ********* told me that the company is yet to provide one of the necessary paperwork to allow for the interconnection among the meters. YSG solar also told me that the system has a remote feature. Is the power being remotely transferred elsewhere? How can I have all these panels on my roof that is making no difference? How can I pay for all these panels and not have any benefits? Also, the company subcontracted the installation to another company. When the company came to my house to install, they were asking me questions that I could not answer as I have no knowledge of the technical aspect. I have no expertise, I expected YSG solar to be fully present after they received ~$30,000. I am also paying interest to the credit company. I need solution and compensation from YSG solar.

      Hello Better Business Bureau,

We've attached the Permission to Operate letter that signifies the necessary interconnection approval with *** ******* We have also attached photos showing system is connected to ********'s PLP meter- the only meter a community solar project can be connected to in order to share credits between meters. We are currently in communication with our client to resolve any open items and investigate her current electrical usage vs the solar system's estimated power production.
